This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Agricultureand Food Processing Equipments Sectional Committee had been approved by the Food and AgricultureDivision Council.

For the purpose ofdeciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value,observed or calculated, expressing the results of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance withIS 2: 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)'. The number of significant places retained-inthe rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.

4 MATERIALS

3.2 Inclined Flight Belt Conveyor - This is madeof mild steel coated with FRP lining 2 mm thick fittedwith imported polyester cord PVC coated belt withflights at the intervals 10 ern having frill walls onboth sides covered with transparent acrylic sheet.Vertical delivery height as per site requirement withadjustable inclination to horizontal. Complete withfeeding hopper with I 000 mm horizontal length­feeding belt and telescopic discharge pipe with allmoving parts covered and guarded properly. Theentire length of conveyor should be covered withtransparent acrylic sheet fitted with in mild steelframe.

Mild steel hard chrome plated drives and tensionroller mounted on EN-8 shaft and SKF bearing, MSleg structure made ofhollow tubular/angular section.The idler roller and press roller will be made ofspecialplast ic suitable for corrosive atmosphere forsupporting the belt from top and return side. All MSplates will be painted by rubberized chlorinatedcorrosion resistant paint. Feeding hopper made outof MS sheet coated with FRP lining 2 mm thick andreinforced with angle channel FRP coated withsupport from ground installed on the flight belt .

The material of construction of inclined flight beltconveyor shall be given in the references. Thematerial may conform to the relevant IndianStandards given in Table I.

This standard specifies material, performance andconstructional and other requirements of inclinedflight belt conveyor.

The following standards contain provisions, whichthrough reference in this text , constitute provisionsof this standard. At the time of publication, theeditions indicated were valid . All standards aresubject to revision and parties to agreements basedon this standard are encouraged to investigate thepossibility of applying the most recent editions ofthe standards indicated below:

For the purpose of this standard followingdefinitions shall apply.

3.1 Body - The body of inclined flight beltconveyor is made out of MS angles supported withMS channels and angles to rest on the ground withwheel to roll .

5 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

When tested with the method, the inclined flight beltconveyor shall conform to the requirement in AnnexA.

6 CONSTRUcnONAL REQUIREMENT

The sheets, channels and angels used in theconstruction of inclined flight belt conveyor shalldepend on the capacity of the machine, They shallvary from 3 mm, 5 mm, 8 mm and angles 25 mm x 25mm, 35 mm x 35 mm,50 mm x 50 mm. The single piecemolded PVC cord rubberized belt with slats at 10cmintervals and frill walls 10 em height should beprovided with conveyor.

7 OTHER REQUIREMENT

7.1 The necessary power drive shall be provided.

7.2 The construction shall be such as to help easyrepairs and maintenance.

7.3 The machine shalI be provided with easyfacilities for adjustments.

7.4 All the joints and connections should be tightand there are no leakages of seed.

7.5 All angles, hoppers should be coated with 2 mmthick FRP lining.

7.6 The PVC rollers with SRF bearings have to beprovided to support belt at 30 cm intervals.

8 WORKMANSHIPAND FINISH

8.1 The components of the machine shall be freefrom cracks and other visual defects.

8.2 The welding andjoints, if any shall not be porousand shall be smooth.

8.3 The corrosion preventing coating shalI beprovided to the body such as FRP lining 2 mm thick.

8.4 The control and adjustment provided shall beeasy and operating smoothly.

9 MARKINGANDPACKING

9.1 Marking

Each inclined flight belt conveyor shall be markedwith the following particulars:

a) Manufacturer's name and address;

b) Type and model number;

c) Power rating;

. d) Drive details;

e) Batch or code number, if any; and

f) Year ofmanufacture.

9.1.1 Each inclined flight belt conveyor may also bemarked with the overall size and approximate weightof machine or this information may be given in thecatalogue supplied by the manufacturer.

9.2 BIS Certification Marking

Each inclined flight belt conveyor may also bemarkedwith the Standard Mark.

9.2.1 The use of the Standard Mark is governed bythe provisions of the Bureau of Indian StandardsAct, 1986 and the Rules and Regulations madethereunder. The details of conditions under whichthe license for the use of Standard Mark may begranted to manufacturers or producers may beobtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

9.3 Packing

The packing of inclined flight belt conveyor shall bedone as agreed to between the supplier and thepurchaser.

ANNEXA(Clause 5)

METHODS OF TEST FOR INCLINED FLIGHT BELT CONVEYOR

A-I RUNNING IN AND PRELIMINARY ADJUST­MENTS

A-t.1 The inclined flight belt conveyor shall beinstalled on levelled preferably on hard surface.

A-1.2 The inclined flight bell conveyor shall berun in for about 30 min before commencing the test.All the adjustments shall be carried out inaccordance with the recommendations of themanufacturers.

A-2 TEST AT NO LOAD

A-2.t After running in is over the inclined flight beltconveyor shall be run at 'No load' for 10 min at thespecific speed. During and after the no load run thevisual observation at the inclined flight belt conveyorshall not show the following:

a) Presence of any marked vibration dur ing theoperation,

b) Presence of undue knock ing sound or rattlingsound,

c) Any marked unusual wear or slackness in anycomponent, and

d) Any marked leakage .

A-3 TEST AT LOAD

The inclined flight belt conveyor shall be operatedat its input capacity specified by the manufacturerincorporating best combination of adjustment for aperiod of30 min.

A- 4 LONG RUN TEST

The inclined flight belt conveyor shall be operatedfor a minimum of20 h duration. During and after theoperation no break down , defects and leakage shalldevelop in the inclined flight belt conveyor.
