FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards. afte r the draft finalized by the Builder' sHardware Sectional Committee had been approved by the Civil Engineering Di visi on Council.

Sliding door bolts are made from various materials like mild steel. bra ss and aluminium. However. in locati on swhere atmospheric hum idity levels arc high. o rd inary mild steel begins to rust. With the availability o f stain lesssteel of suitable grade, sliding door bolts which are rust proof. durable and aesthetically good looking arc nowalso available in stainless steel. Stainless steel sliding door bolts are espec iall y useful in coastal areas wherehumidity levels are high .

Unless otherwise ordered for, the stainless steel slidingdoor bolls shall be pol ished bright with smooth surface .

8 MARKING

8.1 Each stainless stee l sliding do or holts shall beclearly marked with the indication of the source ofmanufacture or trade-mark and the word 'StainlessSteel" shall be legibly imprinted.

8, I.l HIS Certification Marking

The stainless steel lower bolts may also bemarked withthe Standard Mark .

8.1.1.1 The use of the Standard Mark governed bythe provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act.1986 and Rules and Regulations made thereunder. Thedetails of conditions under which the licence for theuse of the Standard Mark may be granted tumanufacturers or producers may be obtained from theBureau of Indian Standards,

4 MATERIALS

The stainless steel used for the manufacture of towerbolts shall be as given in 4.1 and 4.2.

4.1 Sheet

The stainless steel for sheet shall conform to GradesX07Cr 18Ni9 or X 1OCr17Mn6Ni4N20 of IS 6911.

4.2 Bolt

The stainless steel for bolts shall conform to GradesX04Crl3 or XI2Crl3 or X04CrJ8NilO orX07Crl8Ni9 of IS 6527.

5 DIMENSIONS AND TOLERANCES

The dimensions of sliding door bolts and tolerancesthereon shall conform to those given in Fig. I.

9 PACKING

Stainless steel sliding door bolts shall be suitablypacked in cartons. Each carton shall bear a labelshowing the following:

a) Source of manufacture or trade-mark.

b) Size, and

c) Quantity.

10 SCALE OF SAMPLING AND CRITERIA FORCONFORMITY

10.1 Lot

In any consignment. all the stainless steel sliding doorbolts of the same type and size and manufactured at thesame time. shall be grouped together to constitute a lot.
