    NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 8675:1999 ‘Hexagon thin nuts (chamfered)with metric fine pitch thread—Product grades A and B’ issued by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of theBolts, Nuts and Fasteners Accessories Sectional Committee and approval of the Basic and ProductionEngineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1993 by adoption of ISO 8675:1988. This first revision hasbeen made by adoption of the latest version of ISO 8675 published in 1999.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard withoutdeviation. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the IndianStandards. Attention is drawn especially to the following:

    a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they shouldbe read as ‘Indian Standard’.

    b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practiceis to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.

In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standardsalso exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their place are listed belowalong with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated:

HEXAGON THIN NUTS (CHAMFERED) WITH METRICFINE PITCH THREAD — PRODUCT GRADES A AND B

    (First Revision )

    1 Scope

This International Standard specifies the characteristics of hexagon thin nuts (chamfered), with metric fine pitchthread, with nominal thread diameters d from 8 mm up to and including 64 mm, with product grade A for sizes u’ upto and including 16 mm and product grade B for sizes d over 16 mm.,

If, in special cases, specifications other than those listed in this International Standard are required, they should beselected from existing International Standards, for example ISO 724, ISO 898-6, ISO 965-1, ISO 3506-2 and1s04759-1.

Coarse thread hexagon nuts according to ISO 4035 should be the first choice.

    2 Normative references

The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions ofthis International Standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments to, or revisions of, any of thesepublications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this International Standard are encouraged toinvestigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. Forundated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies. Members of ISO and IECmaintain registers of currently valid International Standards.
