Quote of the Month

Another Carolyn Lumber Tournament is in the books! What a ride! 14 days of nonstop tennis ac-tion from Gus Krauel to Nick Munly! And the food was fantastic, as usual! I don't think I have ever

tasted veggies enchiladas that were better in my life!

I did go over to the club a few days before the tourney started, got a beer and sat in the stands to watch whoever was on court one, you know, just to,practice. I think I may continue that once in a while because there is some good tennis going on all day and night and face it, most of us like to

"play the crowd"

Ron did a lot of thanking in his final tourney post... I ditto every one of them. The write ups were particularly entertaining. I enjoyed reading from all the talented writers ... I admit, I was checking the email on my phone a few more times a day

and hoping the " day report" was on-line!

We are heading into " the Holidays" ( Christmas decorations spotted at Costco in Late August, honest) which is always a good time to stop and reflect on all we have to be thankful for. High on my list is the Irvington Club which brings together such a wide array of interesting, talent-ed, thoughtful, FUN loving folks. I know it plays

a big part in my life, so thanks!

Terry

Gratitude can transform common

days into thanksgivings, turn routine

jobs into joy, and change ordinary

opportunities into blessings.

-William Arthur Ward

If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s

got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for

what he’s going to get.

-Frank Clark

The last two weeks are a bit of a blur………………………….amazing tennis, delicious food, and just plain ole “having fun.” A big Thank You to Staff and all of our subs, our photographers (Soren for

putting together a great video), The Fun Committee for coming up with themes and ideas, Julie McGin-

nis (aka Acorn Marketing) for the great entry cups and the jugs for the winners, finalists, and consola-tion gifts, Heather Selis for heading up the dinners, our journalists, and last but far from least, our pros.

They spent countless hours behind the scenes and worked their magic to make this our best tourna-

ment yet. As you can see it does take a lot of effort on everyone’s part AND all of you! Our lives are very busy

and taking the time to not only play in the tournament, but also be a part of all of the activities is amaz-

ing!!! You are the best!

Coming up is our annual wine tasting. You won’t want to miss this. Some of our members bring their

delicious wines for you to taste and offer discounts on orders.

This year I am so excited to inform you that Samuel Eisen-Meyers will be playing guitar during our

event.

Samuel and his family are long time members of the Club and he is an accomplished guitarist, song writ-

er and painter.

This event is open to all; so bring a friend, a neighbor and enjoy an evening of wine tasting and music.

The rains have begun, so if you see leaks on the court please advise the front desk. If a towel has been

put down and it is getting soaked, advise the front desk. Wet, is not good and we have a good stock

of old towels.

The nice décor out front was done by Susie Anderson (member).

Happy fall and as always, hope to see you here at the Club!

Faces of Irvington

You may not recognize him...

John Linde, after his umpteenth eye surgery October 5th, in his “magic chair”. (We’re

wondering if it also comes with a back

massage!)

Hopefully John will be back on the courts

soon.

Best wishes on a complete recovery!

Clint & Lars’ Excellent Adventure to the Eastern Sectionals Mercedes-Benz Dealer Championships in Pinehurst, North

Thank you Soren for capturing so many wonderful moments of the Carolyn Lumber
