Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has proposed re-forms to the Mexican oil industry that could see it opened up to private investment. The plans have held back from going as far as privatisation as no oil concessions will be sold off although there has been opposition over the move from opposition political parties. According to Mexican Government figures Mexico face becoming a net oil import-er as early as 2018 if major new oil projects are not devel-oped.
Premier Oil has revealed it is working on participating in a forthcoming multi-operator exploration campaign off the Falkland Islands. In addition, at least two other wells are planned for multiple stacked targets.
