Do you like the photos?? Well maybe you would you like to view this home personally because, one of the best things about NewHome4U is, we OPEN 7DAYS a WEEK and we’re physically in the office 4U just so that you can view, ‘’like no other estate agent in Mold’

Modern new build housing estates are springing up everywhere these days, providing much needed and affordable accommodation, which is great.Owing to the economies of scale and the need for building companies to make money, they tend to replicate the same design over and over again, which isfar from great. What we find most people want is somewhere a little different, somewhere a bit quirky and with character. Sadly this often meanssacrificing modernity and quality of finish.......BUT, this is one home that shows just how it can be done.

On the Croes Atti estate in Oakenholt, we find this interesting home which combines all the advantages of a new build but in a form and shape that reallymakes it stand out from the rest.

Driving past this home for the first time I took it to be a pair of semis set at an oblique angle to one another. But then I thought ‘How would that work? All therooms adjoining next door would be wedge shaped, rather like living in a game of Trivial Pursuit’. Happily, this is not the case as it is all one home and asyou can see from the photos, it all fits together beautifully.

On the corner of a feeder road, into an area of designated parking lies this attractive and unusual home. Resembling two separate semi detached houses, one half lies at an angle to its twin as the front elevation follows the curve of the road outside. Opening the front door beneath its protective porch, whichhelps to keep the worst of the weather at bay, puts us in the inner hall.

With the stairs facing us and where to our right is the downstairs cloakroom., which is larger than I expected, providing a pedestal hand basin and lavatoryand enough room to turn around in comfort, unlike some.

Beside here is another door, set at an angle to accommodate the curve of the building and revealing the large and beautifully equipped kitchen diner. Thedining room portion lies closest to the road and is kept cheerful and bright courtesy of the large box-style bay window, while providing enough space for afull sized dining table without encroaching in the kitchen in any way.

The kitchen area itself is lined along its longest wall and across the rear wall overlooking the garden, with modern light coloured fitted units featuringvarious integrated appliances such as a dishwasher, fridge, freezer and tower oven, while the gas hob sits on the top. To the left of the back door is theever useful ‘cupboard-under-the-stairs’, providing a handy home for all the household ‘stuff’ that everyone has but few of us have space for.

Stepping through the back door we find a neat and easily maintained garden with a small patio across the rear elevation of the home; somewhere to relaxwith a drink at the end of a long day or a secluded spot to welcome friends and family in on a hot summers day and a BBQ (summer will soon be here). The small triangular lawn, surrounded by flowering shrubs requires the minimum of attention, ensuring this space is used more for relaxing than working, which is as it should be.

A large set of French windows also overlooks the patio and stepping through these takes us into the lounge via the outside route. With these Frenchwindows at one end and a replication of the box-style bay window from the dining room at the other, this large through room is always cheerful and bright. Its central focal point is, as expected, a white faux marble fireplace where we find a very attractive and convincing living flame gas ‘log burner’. Althoughthanks to the gas central heating this is largely for show, the appeal of its flickering flame on a chilly evening is undeniable. The door from here takes usback, competing the circuit into the hall beside the front door.

Climbing the stairs from here and doubling back to our right takes us to the first of the front facing bedrooms. As we enter the room there is a large storagecupboard, also housing the gas combi boiler, which undeniably puts this space above the stair well to good use, freeing up floor space in the room.Whether such space saving is strictly necessary is a moot point, as the room is easily large enough; containing a double bed with twin bedside cabinets, adressing table and a large chest of drawers but then, I suppose you can never have too much room…(please note that the bedroom furniture is notincluded in the house sale unless agreed otherwise).

Adjacent to here and overlooking the rear garden is the smallest of the rooms. Best suited for use as a nursery perhaps, or a study, this would if used as abedroom, become very much a compromise. A double bed would be virtually impossible and even a single would necessitate careful selection of any freestanding storage furniture. Having said that, it is no smaller than the third bedrooms in many traditional semi detached homes.

Across the landing to the far side of the staircase brings us to the family bathroom, which is impressive whatever your expectations. Tiled to chest heighton all the walls except around the bath where this increases to ceiling level and with a practical vinyl faux slate floor this provides all you could wish for.Warmth comes from a stainless steel heated towel rail/radiator, while the suite comprises a pedestal hand basin, lavatory and bath. This features a glassside screen offering protection from the wilder excesses of any over enthusiastic use of the shower, the hot water having been fed directly from thewater tank to ensure a constant pressure and temperature.

Adjacent to here and overlooking the front of the home is the master bedroom. This is a very comfortably sized room, accentuated by the large mirrorfronted fitted wardrobe which frees up a large amount of floor space, leaving sufficient room for the double bed with its twin bedside cabinets, a largechest of drawers and should you fancy it, a badminton court…..ok not quite but there is far more space than you would imagine in here.

The remaining door off the bedroom leads into that necessity of modern living, the en-suite. This is very nicely appointed, featuring a reprise of the fixturesfound in the family bathroom but in contrasting colours and with a large walk-in shower cubicle replacing the traditional bath.

All in all this is an unusual home, with all the features we have come to expect in a newly built house but with a level of interest and character more usuallyfound in older properties. This is a difficult trick to pull off but here the builders should be congratulated and that is not a phrase that trips easily from mytongue but where we often find examples of slipshod work and penny pinching, here there is quality along with careful thought and planning. For that if forno other reason, this one is worth your time to come and see, assuming you do not want to live in a home identical to everyone else’s….with this one youcan dare to be different!
