Meet our CEO:Dr. Adnan Chilwan, Chief Executive Officer
• Dr. Chilwan, a veteran marketing professional and an Islamic Banker by practice has a career spanning nearly two decades
with both reputed conventional and Islamic banks in the gulf region including names like Dubai Bank, Commercial Bank of
Qatar, Mashreq Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and HSBC.
• Having previously served as the Deputy CEO for the bank, he provided strong impetus to all business groups during the
rather turbulent times following the global financial crisis. His solid business acumen and forward looking approach was
instrumental in navigating the bank through the economic downturn as he successfully positioned DIB for growth once the
environment improved.
• Given his experience and proven expertise, Dr. Chilwan was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Islamic Bank
in 2013, with a mandate to transform this organization into a world class financial services provider. His visionary leadership
has not just been a source of inspiration for the dynamic team at DIB, but is also recognized by external stakeholders where
he forms part of the key government-led initiatives as an integral member of their advisory team.
• Dr. Chilwan has a PhD and a MBA in Marketing to his credentials. He is a Certified Islamic Banker (CeIB), a Post Graduate
in Islamic Banking & Insurance and an Associate Fellow Member in Islamic Finance Professionals Board.
