Irrigation-Mart was established in 1978 and incorporated in 1989 as Robbins Association/Irrigation-Mart Inc. We are a closely-held

company with approximately 30 well-trained employees, including certified irrigation designers, agronomists, landscape horticulturalists, agriculturists, and registered professional engineers. We stock irrigation and related products from well over 200 manufacturers in our 2 acre warehouse. This ensures that orders can be shipped in a timely manner to customers worldwide via UPS, FedEx, USPS, and motor freight. We service the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America. In addition to being a full-line irrigation dealership, we offer plasticulture equipment and some farm implements. We offer complete system design, including operation recommendations. Our strength comes from our in-depth understanding or “SAVVY” of irrigation and related technologies.

INTRODUCTION & INFORMATION

What you need to know about your irrigation systemTotal Dynamic Head or Pressure• Sum of the (1) elevation from the surface

of the water source to the discharge point, (2) friction loss, and (3) system pressure requirements

• To convert pressure (PSI) to elevation (feet), use:

1 PSI = 2.31 ft (of water) 1 ft = 0.433 PSI

Line Size• Based on flow rate (see table on page 2)

Flow Rate Required• Gallons per minute (GPM) or per hour (GPH)

for the largest zone(s)• Crops require about 2 inches per week

at peak usage. This requires an irrigation system that will apply no less than 6 GPM for every acre under production. Depending on location and crop, 2 inches per week would be applied by operating continuously at this flow rate; grass requires ~ 1 inch per week.

Power Source• Gas, diesel, tractor, single or

3-phase AC, battery, solar, etc.

Water Source• Pond, lake, stream, well,

community/municipal supply• Delivery or recharge rates

• Blue Line PC - Raised inlets to reduce plugging, self-flushing diaphragm

• Blue Line Classic- Non-PC, low profile emitter lowers friction loss; discharge rates vary with pressure

• DripNet PC - Large filtration area

• UniRam PC - Economical PC option, designed for poor water applications

• Triton - Non-PC, wideflow pattern for clog resistance

Blank Poly Tubing (for use

with on-line emitters or as header line)

Irrigation-Mart offers many other options and brands. For product-specific technical information, please visit our website. Call for customized recommendations and designs.

Another option is on-line emitters that are manually installed on blank hose. Available in non-pressure-compensating or pressure-compensating (PC). They also may include the CNL feature, which prevents “leak-down” after the irrigation cycle ends; the emitter opens at approximately 10 PSI, and will close near 3 PSI. Available from 0.3 GPH to 6.6 GPH.

PureSense Field Stations

Irrigation-Mart stocks and ships Irrometer’s complete line of products, including sensors, meters, tensiometers, and monitors.

Tensiometers - available in multiple lengths. Some models have replaceable tips. Resistant to chemicals and damage from electrolysis. Leak-proof.

Sensors - Fully solid state. Will not dissolve in

soil. No maintenance required. Automatically

compensates for varying salinity levels. Inexpensive and easy to use.

Digital Meters - Converts electrical

resistance of sensor to soil moisture

content. Accurate, stable, portable, convenient. One meter reads all

sensors. Uses one 9V battery.

Continuously measures soil moisture content and salinity

(to track movement of fertilizers) at multiple

depths.

Uses EnviroSCAN probes plus other

sensors for weather reports and irrigation

data. The many different sensors

deployed allows a grower and advisor to build a complete picture of growing

conditions that can be used to help create

the optimal growing environment.

Pressure Gauges & Instruments

Flow Meters

Pressure Regulators

Pressure Relief Valves

Used to monitor pressure in irrigation systems. All pressure gauges sold by Irrigation-Mart are lead-free and available in multiple ranges.

Used to measure flow rate and total flow (GPM and Gallons). Many styles available. Range from 0.3 - 2500 GPM. Typically requires straight pipe for 10 x pipe diameter before meter and 5 x pipe diameter after meter.

Used to reduce pressure to a set value. Assures application uniformity and system protection, even if source pressure fluctuates or terrain is uneven. System pressure must be greater than desired operating pressure. Ranges from 0.1 - 175 GPM.

Used to quickly discharge water to relieve excess pressure on a system. Generally installed after a pumping station to prevent damage. Most models are adjustable; multiple sizes and optional side discharge are available. Ranges from 0 - 235 PSI.

A typical row of tomatoes using stakes and twine

looks like the diagram to the right. Stakes are placed

every 3 - 4 ft, and the twine is wrapped on alternating

sides of the stakes, supporting the plant on

either side. Additional lines of twine at higher levels

may be added later to help support the plant as it

grows.

Note: Plastic Mulch, Wooden Stakes, and Tomato Twine are items seasonally in high

demand. While Irrigation-Mart tries to keep them in stock, items can go on backorder when demand is high. Please allow plenty of time for ordering and shipping. Call our experienced sales staff for availability or

CONTROLLERS & ACCESSORIES

Irrigation Controllers

DC Controllers

Misting/Propagation Controllers

2-Wire or 2-Conductor AC Controllers

Faucet/Hose End Timers

Accessories

• Power options: AC / DC• Most use either a non-volatile memory or a battery back-up to maintain

programs in the event of power outage• Can control other system components (chemical injectors, fans, filter

backwash cycles, landscape lighting, pumps, etc. Some may require the use of relays)

• Sensor controlled options: Photo cells, flow meters, thermostats, rain sensors, soil moisture sensors, freeze sensors, etc.

• Timed controlled options: Stations with multiple start times, run times (minutes and hours), multiple programs, stacked/non-stacked programs

• Indoor and outdoor models.

• Power Options: Can retrofit existing AC valves/systems; great for remote systems that do not have a reliable AC source nearby

• Multiple start times, run times, and programs available• Some can be used with sensors for greater control• Available in multiple or single station models• Typically batteries last a full season

• Power Options: AC / DC• Loop feature with daily start/stop time• Sensor ports for greater control• Short cycles (minutes) and run times (seconds)

• Power Option: AC (2-Wire, with decoder)• Cost reduction; only one 2-conductor wire required for all stations; typically used for

12-station or larger systems; requires a decoder at each zone valve• Easy to install; uses less wire; reduces digging/trenching, fewer things to pull through conduit• Effortless expansion and changes, since the controller does not have to be re-wired when

modifying the system (simply connect a 2-conductor cable anywhere to the existing cable)• Can reach great distances (i.e., can turn on valves up to ten miles away)• Simple to repair; should wire sustain damage, simply reconnect two wires to restore function

• Power Options: Battery operated / Mechanical timer (no battery)• Battery operated models allow unattended operation for extended

periods• Allows multiple irrigation cycles per day or week• Accessories available to complement the system• Inexpensive; simple installation and operation; easy to program
