When to Use It

• The present perfect tense is used to describe an action completed in the very recent past. Some time expression frequently used with the present tense are:

• YA – already, yet JAMÁS – ever, never

• TODAVÍA NO – not yet NUNCA – never

• ¿ En tu vida, has tenido un accidente?

– No, nunca he tenido un accidente.

• ¿ Todavía no has tenido un accidente? İQué suerte!

– Yo ya he tenido tres.

Pronouns

• It / Them / Those – Lo, La, Los, Las

• In English, we put the pronoun at the end of a sentence.

– I have seen it.

• In Spanish, we put the pronoun right before haber and the participle – at the beginning.

–Lo he visto.

“as much […] as” / “as many […] as”

• To compare equal quantities in English you use “as much […] as “ or “as many […] as.”–He has as much money as I.

–He has had as many accidents as I.

• In Spanish, you use “tanto […] como.” Because tanto is an adjective it has to agree with the noun it modifies. – Él tiene tanto dinero como yo.

– Él ha tenido tantos accidentes como yo.
