After graduating high school in 2004, Whitney moved to College Station to attend Texas A & M. In the summer of 2005, Whitney’s dad decided to buy a new lawnmower, and RJ just happened to be the salesman at the store. It is a little ironic because RJ, upon seeing Whitney’s dad, asked him, “How is my future wife doing?” They briefly discussed Whitney. In October of that same year, Whitney made a trip home from college and ran into an old friend who mentioned to Whitney that RJ wanted to be set up on a date with her. After a couple of phone calls, the date was arranged for the very next night. After that first date, RJ and Whitney knew that they had found something special in one another. Whitney moved back home, and she and RJ have been inseparable ever since. The Proposal… On December 23, 2008, RJ called and asked Whitney to come to Texarkana so that they could go to the movies and out to eat. When Whitney arrived and opened the front door, she found the lights turned off and rose petals and candles EVERYWHERE. The rose petal trail led to a single rose on top of a small box. RJ told Whitney to open the box. She, of course, expected the box to have her engagement ring in it. With shaky hands, she opened the box, only to find a large watch face. RJ said, “I know this is not what you expected your present to be.” Whitney unconvincingly said, “No, but it’s pretty. Thanks.” RJ then instructed Whitney to pull the knob that stops the time on the watch. She did, and he said, “I got you this watch, because I wanted you to remember this moment forever.” He then took the engagement ring out of his pocket and proposed. It was very romantic and a night the two of them will never forget! The Wedding… The Wedding Day was truly a dream come true for RJ and Whitney. They enjoyed every moment and were excited to have so many guests to share in their happiness. Looking back, one of the “mistakes” during the wedding turned into RJ and Whitney’s favorite moment. The bride and groom chose to include RJ’s six year old son, Cade, in the lighting of the Unity Candle-- they really looked forward to signifying the three of them coming together as a family. However, as Whitney lifted her candle to meet the other two, it fell to the ground! Without hesitation, Cade offered to share his candle with her and they both held onto his candle and met RJ’s in the middle to light the Unity Candle. This mistake proved that the three of them are truly meant to be a family. The reception at Elk Meadow was absolutely perfect. The night was complete with food, dancing and fun! RJ and Whitney felt tremendously blessed to have so many friends and relatives to celebrate with them. It was everything they had hoped for and more! The Honeymoon… For their honeymoon, RJ and Whitney spent a relaxing, fun-filled week at The Royal in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They swam with the dolphins (a lifelong dream of Whitney’s), ziplined through the jungle, splashed in the ocean and truly enjoyed each other’s company.

Growing up, both Whitney and RJ lived in Maud, Texas, however; their age difference kept them separated during school, as Whitney was in junior high when RJ was a senior in high school. After graduating high school in 2004, Whitney moved to College Station to attend Texas A & M. After a couple of phone calls, the date was arranged for the very next night. After that first date, RJ and Whitney knew that they had found something special in one another. On December 23, 2008, RJ called and asked Whitney to come to Texarkana so that they could go to the movies and out to eat.
