III. Activities- Day 1Pre-activity (10 m)
• students receive 5-6 general questions about the upcoming topic and discuss it in pairs
• then the teacher asks the pairs to share their answers with the class
vocabulary building (10 m- sample list in the following slide)
teacher writes the related vocabularies the students use in their answers and the unknown vocabularies they ask on the board and the students take notes

Homework: interview their parents using the questions worked on in class
III. Activities- Day 3Pair activity: Report the homework to each
other, then a few students report to the class
Draw points out of the homework to explain wedding customs such as: /xastegari/ asking for bride’s hand /bale borun/ bride family’s consent /namzadi/ engagement /aqd/ wedding ceremony /arusi/ wedding reception
III. Day 3, Cont. Listening activity: students listen to an audio of
a story of an Iranian grand-mother talking about her own traditional wedding customs
Fill in the blank using words from the word bank
Discussion: compare and contrast traditional vs. modern Iranian weddings
Homework: write a paragraph comparing and contrasting Iranian and American weddings
