DRC AQAR 2017-18

Criterion – VII(Best Practices)

Skill Development programmes held in vacations help to impart holistic education to students. Action taken report included the outcome of the IQAC decisions at the end of the academic year Two best practices are 1)Maintaining the green campus 2)Recycling of waste on and off campus Environmental audit is pending Strength: The dedicated faculty work hard to keep the students engaged in various co-curricular

and extra-curricular activities. This goes a long way in building character. Weakness: Paucity of large class rooms, interaction/seminar halls, which restricts academic activ-

ities of students and teachers. Paucity of permanent teachers and non-teaching staff. Opportunities: Proximity with main university campus enables us to interact with best educators

to campus. Some funding from outside agencies is available in various science departments for innovative research.

Threat: College students’ performance will be affected severely if infrastructure does not im-prove. The information Management System needs to be in initiated urgently to look into entire data comprehensively.

Plan of college for next year includes 1) improve functioning of IQAC 2) improve college infra-structure 3) make and follow college calendar in academic, co-curricular and

The summary of feedback undertaken by students, parents and alumni will help to improve our college functioning

The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC for 2017-18

matter.Students are encouraged to send their research articles to reputed journals also. Magazine is released annually in which students of the department publish their poems, prose, research articles, illustrations, etc. In the present year, we have released the e-version of the magazine, making it accessible to a wider readership. It is simultaneously an environment-friendly gesture. “Shreshtha” – the annual magazine of the Women’s Development Cell of Daulat Ram College or in “Pramila” – the annual magazine of Daulat Ram College.

Students are often taken to watch live performances of plays in theatres such as the National School of Drama or to other colleges of Delhi University and beyond. Visits are organised to the National Gallery of Modern Art to help students to begin an engagement with the visual art forms.

For the MA students (both Previous and Final), an Orientation is organised wherein they are introduced to all the teachers of the department, they are told about the Internal Assessment Scheme and mentoring for writing research papers. This is an extremely beneficial exercise because these students only come to college once a week (either Wednesday or Saturday) for their tutorials. This orientation enables them to interact with all the faculty members and the juniors. It is a step towards the inclusivity of these students within the department and the college too.

Some special centres have been set up in the college to enhance learning, research and participation. These centres are Psychology resource centre, Drosophila research centre, Zebra fish research centre, Neuroscience study centre.
