1. Double-click the file you downloaded (WSFTP_ProT128_Install Setup.exe) to begin the setup process. The

WS_FTP Professional 9 dialog box will open. Read the welcome message then click Next.

2. The WS_FTP Professional 9 License Agreement dialog box will open. Read agreement and choose to Accept or Not Accept and Click Next.

3. The Choose Destination Location dialog box will open. Verify that the destination path is correct or click Browse

to change the location and click Next.

4. The Select Program Folder dialog box will open. In the Program Folder text box, accept the Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro folder as the Program Folder and click Next to select any additional options you want to install.

5. The Start Copying Files dialog box will open. Review settings before copying files. If you want to review or

change any settings, click Back, otherwise click Next to begin copying files.

6. The Setup Status dialog box will open. This will track the status of the setup.

7. The InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box will open once setup is finished. You must restart your computer

before you can use the program. Click Finish.

8. This concludes the installation phase of WS_FTP Professional 9. Please proceed to the instructions below on

how to configure WS_FTP Professional 9.

After downloading and installing WS_FTP Professional 9, double-click this icon on your desktop:

You will need to setup a “site” in order to connect to The Data Center FTP Server. The WS_FTP Professional 9 window will open. Click the Connect on the upper left corner of the window to set up the site.

1. The Site Manager dialog box will open. Select “My Site” and click the Create Site button.

2. The Site Name dialog box will open. Enter “Data Center” and click NextI.

3. The Server Address dialog box will open. Enter “10.37.9.25” in the Server Address text box and click Next.

4. The User Name and Password dialog box will open. Enter the User ID and Password given to you by the Data

Center and click Next.

5. The Connection Type dialog box will open. Choose “FTP” as the connection type and click Next.

6. You have completed the setup and the Finish dialog box will now open. Uncheck the “Connect to this Site” option

if you do not want to connect to the FTP server. If all of the information is correct click Finish to create the Site, otherwise click back and make changes.

1. Open the Ipswitch WS_FTP Professional 9 application. Click the Connect button on the upper left corner to

connect to the DataCenter server.

2. The Site Manager dialog box will open. Select the “Data Center” site you created and click Connect.

3. After successfully logging in to WS_FTP Professional 9 the following dialog box will appear. The window has a

left pane and a right pane. The left pane is your Local PC drive and the right pane is The Data Center Server. The left side displays the contents of the folder you selected or created during the installation and configuration. If you did not select a Local Folder during configuration then the default folder will be displayed as shown below. The right side displays the contents of The Data Center Server.

4. To transfer a file, open the folder on the left that contains the file you want to transfer. To send the file to The Data Center, double-click the Upload_To_Datacenter folder on the right.

Your screen will look similar to this after you double-click the folder. Note: The Data Center Server now displays: “/AnyBank/Upload_To_Datacenter” where AnyBank = your User Id.

5. Click on the file you want to transfer from the Local System. This example shows the “report.pdf” file selected. To upload this file to The Data Center server click the green arrow in the center pointing to the right.

6. The Transfer Manager tab in the Information Window, at the bottom of the screen, displays the file transfer status.

If a file with the same name already exists on The Data Center Server the File Exists dialog box will display. Click the Overwrite button to replace the existing file, or click the Skip button if you do not want to replace the remote file.

After the file has been transferred, your screen should look similar to this. The file that has been transferred should be in the left pane under The Data Center.

7. To switch folders, click the folder with the green up arrow (1) next to the file location. You can now choose a different folder. Other methods of switching folders include, clicking the down arrow next to the file location (2) and clicking the Change Directory button, which is the folder with a curved arrow, and is located under the file location bar (3). The same procedure applies to changing folder locations in your local drive.

8. To retrieve a file from The Data Center, double-click the Download_To_Your_PC folder from the Data Center

Server.

Your screen will look similar to this after you double-click the folder. Note: The Data Center Server now displays: “/AnyBank/Download_To_Your_PC” where AnyBank = your User Id.

9. Click the file you want to retrieve in The Data Center Server window. This example shows the “all.doc” file

selected. To download this file to your local system, click the green arrow in the center pointing to the left. Be sure that the correct destination path is selected in your local drive before downloading the file.

10. The file will begin to download/transfer to your computer in the specified location (your local PC). The Transfer

Manager tab in the Information Window, at the bottom of the screen, displays the file transfer status. If a file with the same name already exists on your local PC, the File Exists dialog box will display. 11. If you clicked the Skip button in Step 10, you can rename the file by clicking on the file that is conflicting and click the Rename button. The instructions for renaming a file are the same for files located in your local PC.

12. The Rename dialog box will open and prompt you to enter the new name for the file you want to rename. If you attempt to rename the file to an existing file name, the Rename dialog box will close and the file will continue to have the old name. Make sure the name you want to assign your file is not in use on the system where the file is located.

13. The Data Center Server now shows the renamed file “all_new.doc”. You can now attempt to upload the file again

with the new name.

14. To switch folders, click the folder with the green up arrow (1) next to the file location. You can now choose a different folder. 15. To disconnect from The Data Center Server, click the Disconnect button on the tool bar of the window.

To exit completely from Ipswitch WS_FTP Professional 9, click File – Exit or the red X in the upper right corner of the window.
