How We Started EverythingSchool District of Independence

The mission of the Independence School District is, “We will maximize learning for all students,” and its vision is, “Everyone, every day.”

In 1999, the Independence Education Foundation leaders established a scholarship to fulfill their mission and vision by supporting Independence students’ continuing education. In 2014, the Independence Education Foundation merged with the Eau Claire Community Foundation to create the Independence Public School Memorial Scholarship Fund, an endowment to ensure a long-term scholarship for the post-secondary education of Independence students. The Fund and its goal remain the same, but it is now safeguarded and administered by ECCF.

The purpose of the Independence Memorial Scholarship Fund is to encourage students to become more engaged in their community and school, as well as support their continuing education, with the hope that their recipients will extend similar generosity to students in future generations.

The former Independence Education Foundation is pleased to partner with the ECCF. This partnership has greatly assisted in managing the funds, increasing interest earnings, and making it easier for community members to support our students.
