iPad - Lesson 1- Initial Orientation

Subject: Familiarization of the iPad accessories, buttons, and built-in features.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPad and USB charge/power adapter.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn how to charge the iPad battery,

accurately identify buttons and locations of built-in features, and verbally repeat the ideal cleaning methods.

Lesson Outline:Orientation

1. The On/Off button is located along the top edge and towards the right side.a. Press and hold the On/Off button for 3 seconds to turn on.b. A slider to Unlock the device appears. Touch and drag the gray arrow to the

right. 2. To turn Off, touch and hold the On/Off button for 4 seconds until the Power slider

appears at top of screen. Touch and drag the Red arrow to the right.3. This same button activates or deactivates Sleep Mode.

a. To put the iPad to sleep, touch the On/Off button quickly. b. To wake from Sleep Mode, touch the On/Off or the Home Button quickly.

Touch and drag the gray arrow to the right.c. When using an external keyboard, pressing any key on the keyboard will wake

the iPad from Sleep Mode.4. Along the right edge is the Volume toggle switch. To increase volume, touch the

top end of the volume switch and the bottom edge of volume toggle to decrease volume.

5. Just above volume switch is a small Mute switch. 6. The Headphone Jack is located on the top edge along the left side. 7. Next to the Head phone jack is a small hole where the Built-in Microphone is located. 8. The Home button is located near the bottom of glass face. 9. There are Two Cameras on the iPad 2. One camera is located near the top of the

screen in the center, and a rear facing camera is located on the upper right side of the back panel (when the screen is facing the user).

10.The iPad has an Internal Rechargeable Battery that will turn the device off when there is only 10% of power left.

11.The Charger Port is located at the bottom edge of the device and below the Home button.

How to Use and Clean the iPad Touch screen1. You must use bare fingers on the touch screen.2. The best way to clean the iPad is by using a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.

iPad - Orientation – 1.1

iPad – Lesson 2 - Home Screen and iPad Zoom

Subject: Home Screen and iPad Zoom.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPad and USB charger/power adapter.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn about the iPad Home screen

and the Zoom accessibility feature.Lesson Outline: iPad Home Screen

1. The first screen that appears after the iPad is turned on is called the Home screen. 2. The Home screen contains many apps that can perform basic tasks. 3. Lightly tap any app to open.4. When finished using an app, press the Home button to return to the Home screen. 5. Flick single finger towards either the left edge or right edge to view additional Home

screens.Zoom

1. To open the Zoom accessibility feature, tap the Home button three times, and touch the “Turn On Zoom” option. This is also where the user turns off Zoom.

2. To turn on and off Zoom, double tap the screen with three fingers.3. To increase magnification, double-tap and slide three fingers upwards.4. To decrease magnification, double-tap and slide three fingers downwards. 5. To scan the screen, three fingers must be used and dragged.Note : Though, Zoom and VoiceOver cannot both be activated at same time, Zoom and Speak Auto-text or White-on-Black Contrast can.

iPad – Lesson 3- Home Screen

Subject: Home Screen Apps and FoldersInstructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPad and USB charger/power adapter.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn how to rearrange Home screen

apps, access recently used apps, and create additional Home screens and folders.Lesson Outline: Recently Used Apps

1. Press the Home button twice to access recently used apps. 2. The recently used apps will appear on a ribbon located at the bottom of screen. 3. Flick left or right to search for desired app, or press the Home button to return to the

Home screen. 4. When finished using an app, it is best to close the app from the Recently Used Apps

Ribbon in order to save battery and possible data usage. Touch and hold any app from the ribbon until all of the apps on the ribbon begin to jiggle, and then press the minus icon above each app to close.

Rearranging Apps1. To move an app to a different Home screen, touch and hold an app until all of the

Home screen apps begin to jiggle, then drag and hold the app along left or right edge of screen near the center.

2. If the user wishes to create a folder containing apps from the Home screen, touch and hold an app until all of the Home screen apps begin to jiggle, and then drag the app onto another app.

A. A new screen appears with the option to rename the folder.B. Press the Home button after naming the folder, and then press the Home button

again to return to the Home screen.C. Repeat above steps to include other apps in folder. D. To remove an app from the folder, touch and hold the app until it jiggles, and

move it out of the folder box. When all of the apps have been removed from a folder, the folder will disappear from the Home screen.

iPad Screen Orientation1. The iPad will automatically switch between Portrait and Landscape modes. 2. To Lock In Preferred Screen Orientation, double tap the Home button, flick single

finger to the right along the Recently Used Apps Ribbon, and touch the Circular Arrow button on the far left corner. Press again to unlock screen orientation.

iPad- Lesson 4 - Accessing the iPad User Guide

Subject: Introduction to iBooks and Accessing the iPad User Guide.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPad and USB charger/power adapter. Instructor

will have downloaded iBooks and the User Guide during initial iTunes setup.Performance Objectives: In this lesson, the veteran will access and navigate the iPad User

Guide. The goal of this lesson is for the veteran to independently research the User Guide for answers, as this will be the means for answers when they return home.

Lesson Outline:Accessing and Reading the User Guide

1. Tap the iBooks app on the Home screen. 2. Tap the iPad User Guide from the iBooks Bookshelf. 3. To Turn Pages, tap near the right or left margin of a page to move onto the next or

previous page. Try holding the iPad in portrait orientation and use your thumbs to turn the pages.

4. To go to the Table of Contents, tap near the center of the current page, then tap the List icon next to the Library icon in upper left-hand corner.

5. Tap a Section from the list to go to that section.6. To Add a Bookmark, tap the Ribbon button in the upper right corner. 7. Repeat to Remove a Bookmark.

How to locate Bookmarks1. Tap the List icon to the right of the Library icon in upper left-hand corner.2. Near the top of screen in the center, and underneath the title of current book are the

following icons: Table of Contents and Bookmarks.3. Tap the Bookmarks icon.4. Choose a bookmark from list by tapping the bookmark’s name.

How to Change Visual Settings1. To Enlarge an Image, double-tap the image.2. To increase or decrease font size, tap the aA icon in upper right-hand corner. Tap

the A on the left to decrease font size or tap the right A increase font size.3. To Change Font Style, select the aA icon in the upper right-hand corner, tap the word

‘Fonts’, and choose desired style.4. To Adjust Screen Brightness, touch the Sun icon in the upper right-hand corner and

drag the meter to the left to decrease screen brightness, or to the right to increase screen brightness.

5. Note: The veteran may find that increasing the font size versus Zoom can make reading easier.

What is VoiceOver?1. VoiceOver describes aloud what appears onscreen. 2. When an app is selected, VoiceOver speaks the app’s name or describes the

highlighted item. The enclosing black rectangle is referred to as the VoiceOver cursor. 3. VoiceOver can be set to speak characters and words by speaking each character as

you type it, then speaking the whole word when you insert a space or punctuation. 4. VoiceOver uses a higher pitch when entering a letter, and a lower pitch when deleting

a letter. When text is selected, VoiceOver reads the text. 5. When VoiceOver is turned on, descriptions can be heard using two, three, or four

fingers to tap or flick. 6. For best results when using more than one finger, relax and let your fingers touch the

screen with some space between them.VoiceOver Commands

A. Navigate and Read1. Tap:  Speak item.2. Flick right or left:  Select the next or previous item.3. Two-finger tap:  Stop speaking the current item.4. Two-finger flick up:  Read all, from the top of the screen.5. Two-finger flick down:  Read all, from the current position.6. Three-finger flick up or down:  Scroll one page at a time.7. iPad- Lesson 5 - Notes

Subject: Introduction to iPad Notes.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPad, USB charger/power adapter, and an external

keyboard.Performance Objectives: In this lesson, the veteran will access iPad Notes, type a note

using the Onscreen or external keyboard, delete a note, search for a note, and create additional notes.

Lesson Outline:Adding a New Note

1. From the Home screen, touch the Notes app. 2. Tap the Plus icon located in the upper right-hand corner. 3. A blank page will appear with the On-screen keyboard for the user to enter text. Try

turning the iPad on its side in Landscape Orientation so the keyboard is larger. 4. Note: If using an external keyboard, the onscreen keyboard will not appear.5. Tap the keys on the on-screen keyboard to enter text. 6. If a suggested word appears while typing, tap the spacebar to accept and keep typing,

or tap the X at the top right corner of the word if it is incorrect.7. Tap the Number key in the lower left-hand corner of the keyboard to display numbers

and additional punctuation. Tap the Letters key to return to the original keyboard display.

8. Tap Return to move down to next line. 9. Tap the Keyboard key in the lower right-hand corner to hide the keyboard.

Moving Between Notes1. Tap the Left Arrow or Right Arrow icons at the bottom of screen to move between

notes.2. If holding the iPad in Portrait Orientation, tap the Notes icon in the upper left-hand

corner to view list of previously written notes. 3. If holding the iPad in Landscape Orientation, the list of previously written notes will

appear in a column along the left side of screen. The current note is encircled in red.4. Notes are organized by the date last modified, with the most recent always located at

the top.Editing a Note

1. To Edit a Note, tap anywhere on the note, and tap again on the place to edit and begin typing your changes.

A. Tap twice with two fingers on top of text to highlight word. Drag the ends of the highlights to highlight or de-highlight additional text. Touch the Copy button to copy highlighted text, the Cut button to remove highlighted text, or the Paste button to insert previously copied text.

Store, download apps, and delete apps. The veteran will also become aware with how to update previously downloaded apps.

Lesson Outline:Browsing the App. Store

1. The Apple App. Store is where the user can download apps programs directly to their iPad.

2. Though many apps are free to download and use, some do cost a fee. Keep searching for a desired app if there is a fee to download. Often, there might be another free app that does the same thing.

3. To use the App Store, the iPad must have an Internet connection.4. The user will also need their Apple ID and password to download apps.5. Tap the App Store app on Home screen.6. Within the App Store Application, enter the search terms if you know what app you are

looking for. The Search box is located in the upper right-hand corner.7. Tap the Featured icon to see new, notable, or recommended apps, the Games icon to

see Gaming Apps, the Top Charts icon to see the most popular applications, the Categories icon to narrow search field by category, and the Updates icon to view all available updates to the Apps previously downloaded.

8. Located at the top of screen are the following icons: New, What’s Hot, and Release Date.

memos using the QuickVoice Recorder app.Lesson Outline: Downloading QuickVoice App

1. Within the App Store Application, the Search box is located in the upper right-hand corner. Type QuickVoice Recorder. Notice there is no space between the words Quick and Voice.

2. Touch the Blue Microphone icon next to the “QuickVoice Recorder” title in the results box. Next, touch the Install icon underneath the Big Blue Microphone icon, then follow the steps learned during previous lesson about App Store.

Using QuickVoice1. Touch the QuickVoice App located on the Home screen. 2. Touch the Red Record icon located near the bottom left-hand corner.3. Speak into the iPad's built-in speaker.4. To Stop the recording, touch the Red Stop icon located near the bottom left-hand

corner of screen, or to Pause the recording, touch the Red Pause icon located near the lower right-hand corner of screen. This icon will now become Resume. Touch the Resume icon to continue recording.

5. Recordings are listed with the oldest recording at top of list. 6. To play a recording, touch the recording from the list you wish to play, then touch the

7. To Give an Existing Recording a Title, touch the recording you wish to rename, then touch the Title icon located in the farthest lower left-hand corner of screen.

8. A text field box appears. Type in desired title, followed by the Blue Save icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the Edit Title box to save changes, or touch the Cancel icon in the opposite corner to cancel.

9. To Delete a recording, touch the recording you wish to delete, then the Trash Can icon located in the lower right-hand corner of screen.

10.To E-mail a recording, the recording must be less than 5 MBs. First, touch the recording you wish to send via e-mail, touch the Arrow/Box icon located in the lower left-hand corner of screen, and then the E-mail Recording icon. A Notice Box appears stating the Free Version of QuickVoice installed only allows 5 MB to be sent

Lesson Outline: What is Dragon Dictation Notes for iPad?

1. Dragon Dictation Notes is specifically for iPad. 2. You can dictate text which can then be saved, viewed, and managed. 3. The free version of Dragon Dictation has a limit of 60 seconds of audio recording. 4. To download, go to the App Store Search Box and type Dragon Dictation Notes.

Follow the steps learned during previous lesson about App Store.Composing Messages

1. Touch the Dragon Dictation app located on the Home screen. 2. To create a new Note, touch the Plus symbol located in the upper right-hand corner of

screen, and/or tap the Red Recording button in the middle of the screen. 3. Try to speak clearly and in a normal voice by the iPad’s built-in microphone, using

many short sentences instead of a few long ones. Tap anywhere on the screen when you finish speaking.

4. Tap the Red Recording button again to dictate additional text. 5. If an error message appears stating there is too much background noise, move to a

quieter area or speak clearer and more directly into the microphone.Correcting Text

1. Making corrections to the errors in the dictated text will also help improve your voice recognition over time.

2. To Edit transcribed text, double tap the screen to place the cursor by the word you would like to correct.

3. When a word is touched, a drop-down list of alternative suggestions appears. Touch the word from the list to replace the incorrect word, or tap the word and touch the Record button. Speak into the built-in microphone and tap the screen when finished.

4. To delete a specific word, tap the word you wish to delete until word is highlighted, and touch the Delete icon.

5. To correct an entire phrase, drag your finger to adjacent words until the entire phrase is highlighted, and touch the Delete icon to delete the highlighted phrase.

iPhone - Lesson 1 - Initial Orientation

Subject: Familiarization of the iPhone accessories, buttons, and built-in features.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPhone and USB charge/power adapter.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn how to charge the iPhone

battery, accurately identify buttons and locations of built-in features, and verbally repeat the ideal cleaning methods.

Lesson Outline:Orientation

1. With the iPhone laying flat in front of you, position the iPhone with the touch screen facing the ceiling. The touch screen side of the phone has a slit near the top, and a circular indentation near the bottom. The back side of phone is smooth throughout.

2. The Power button, also called the Sleep/Wake button, is located along the top edge of phone to the right.

a. To turn On the iPhone with VoiceOver not currently activated, touch and hold the On/Off button for 3 seconds, wait 30 seconds for the iPhone to load, then press the Home button three times to turn VoiceOver on (If Triple-Click Home button is set to do so.)

b. To turn on iPhone with VoiceOver already activated, simply touch and hold the On/Off button, listen for the reader to speak "Slide to unlock; slide or double-tap”, then double tap the screen with single finger to unlock.

c. To turn Off, touch and hold the On/Off button for 4 seconds, listen for the reader to speak "Power off. Slide or double-tap”, then double tap the screen with single finger to power off. The reader will then speak, "iPhone shutting down" and will turn off.

d. To put the iPhone to sleep, touch the On/Off button quickly. This will blacken the screen. To wake, touch the On/Off again, or the Home button. Follow the same steps mentioned above to unlock the screen. Or, if using an external keyboard, press any key on the keyboard to wake the iPhone.

e. If unsure whether the iPhone is in Sleep Mode versus Off, press the Home button once. If nothing happens, the iPhone is Off.

f. Note: If the phone is not unlocked within thirty seconds, the screen will turn off. Press the Home or Power button again to bring back the unlock slider.

3. The circular indentation is where the Home button is located. To return to Home screen, press the Home button. This is true in any location.

4. A horizontal slit near the top is the Phone Earpiece. 5. A Video Camera is located to the left of the earpiece.

6. The edge closest to your body has a long slit and contains three items. The small grill on the right is the Speaker, the long central slit is the Charger Port, and the small grill on the left is the Phone’s Receiver.

a. The iPhone comes with a USB charger/power adapter. The iPhone has an Internal Rechargeable Battery that will turn the device off when there is only 10% of power left. The iPhone can be used while charging, however, if the iPhone is totally without charge, you must plug it in and wait a few minutes in order to initiate loading.

7. Volume Control is located along the left edge of the phone, where there are two buttons close together. Press the button farthest from you to Increase the volume, and the nearer button to Decrease volume.

8. Along the left edge past the volume controls is a small switch used to turn on/off Silent Mode.

a. When Silent Mode is activated, the phone ringer will not sound when receiving an incoming call. Also, most other sounds from the phone will be silent as well. VoiceOver and Alarms WILL remain operative.

b. To turn Silent Mode on, press the switch down towards the table. The iPhone will vibrate. Doing the opposite will turn off Silent Mode.

9. A Headphone Jack is located along the left side of the top edge. Next to the headphone jack is a small hold where the Microphone is located.

10.The Camera can be found by flipping the iPhone over with the back side now facing the ceiling. The camera lens is located in the upper left-hand corner.

11.The best way to clean the iPhone is by using a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. There’s no need to scrub the screen very hard, as there is a protective coating on the screen’s surface. No Glass Cleaners!

iPhone - Lesson 2 – VoiceOver and Home Screen

Subject: VoiceOver Screen Reader and Home Screen Orientation.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPhone and Charger/Power adapter.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn: basic VoiceOver skills and

functions, how to select apps located on the Home screen, how to navigate through multiple Home screens, and how to access recently used apps.

Lesson Outline:Note: If needed, the instructor can change the speaking rate. Go to Settings>General> Accessibility>VoiceOver>Speaking Rate, and drag speaking rate meter button to the right to increase speed or to the left to decrease. Instructor should also set the Triple-click Home button option to turn on VoiceOver. Instructor will turn on VoiceOver by pressing the Home button three times.

iPhone Orientation1. VoiceOver describes aloud what appears on the screen. When an app or icon is

selected, VoiceOver speaks the name or describes the item. The enclosing black rectangle is referred to as the VoiceOver cursor. VoiceOver uses a higher pitch when entering a letter, and a lower pitch when deleting a letter. When text is selected, VoiceOver reads the text. When using more than one finger, relax and let your fingers touch the screen with some space between them.

2. The first screen that appears after the iPhone is turned on is called the Home screen. The Home screen contains many apps that can perform basic tasks. Lightly tap any app to open. VoiceOver automatically places the VoiceOver cursor in the upper left-hand corner of screen. This is true of any screen in any app.

3. When finished using an app, press the Home button to return to the Home screen. 4. Flicking a single finger or thumb to the left or right will move the cursor to the previous

or next app listed. Or, tap and hold a single finger and drag the finger around screen to hear all of the apps listed on Home screen. When you hear the app you wish to open, double tap the screen using one finger.

5. If there is more than one Home screen, touch and flick three fingers to the left side of the screen to move to the next Home screen or to the right to move to the previous Home screen.

6. To return to the Main Home screen, press the Home button. This is true in any location.

7. To view previously used apps, press the Home button twice, and the Recently Used Ribbon appears. Flick single finger to the left or right to move the VoiceOver cursor to the previous or next app in the recent list, or touch and hold on the screen using one finger until the recently used app name is spoken. If there is more than one Ribbon screen, touch and flick three fingers to the left side of screen to move to the next

8. When finished using an app, it is best to close the app from the Recently Used Apps Ribbon in order to save battery and possible data usage. Press the Home button twice to bring up the Recently Used Ribbon, then double tap and hold with single finger. The speaker will say “Editing Apps” Flick to the left or right to navigate through the apps, and when the reader speaks the desired apps name to close, double tap the screen, and another click can be heard.

Making a Home screen folder with VoiceOver1. On the Home screen, select the app you want to move. 2. Double-tap and hold, then drag the app. 3. VoiceOver speaks the row and column position as your drag the app. 4. VoiceOver also says “On top of…” whatever app or folder you want to add to.5. When you drag your app onto another, let go. The reader says it’s creating a folder,

and lists the name of app you dragged yours on top of.6. The iPhone automatically gives the folder a name based on the apps within. There is

the option to rename a folder, but typing will be covered in a future lesson.7. When you finish rearranging the apps, press the Home button.

iPhone - Lesson 3 - Accessing the iPhone User Guide with VoiceOver

will have downloaded iBooks and the User Guide during initial iTunes setup.Performance Objectives: In this lesson, the veteran will access and navigate the iPhone

User Guide. The goal of this lesson is for the veteran to independently research the User Guide for answers, as this will be the means for answers when they return home.

Lesson Outline:1. To access the User Guide in iBooks, navigate and select “iBooks” from the Home

screen. Within iBooks, it may be necessary to double tap the screen in order to enter bookshelf. Once inside the bookshelf, navigate to the “iPhone User Guide” and select.

2. When reading iBooks, navigate to the desired icon or until the VoiceOver Cursor highlights the text and begins reading page. Flicking two fingers upwards activates VoiceOver to read from top of page. Flicking two fingers downwards activates the reader to read text from the beginning within the VoiceOver Cursor. Flicking three fingers to the left or right will move reader to the next or previous page. To stop VoiceOver from reading, tap the screen with two fingers.

3. To access the “Table of Contents”, touch the screen with a single finger, and navigate to the “Table of Contents” and select. Navigate the list of existing Sections within book, and double tap the screen with single finger to access desired section.

4. To Add a Bookmark to the current opened page, navigate to the “Add Bookmark button” and select. The reader will then say “Remove a Bookmark button”. This is because the new bookmark is highlighted by the VoiceOver Cursor, and this is an option the user can choose.

5. To Search for an existing Bookmark, navigate to the “Table of Contents” and select. Next, navigate to the “Bookmarks, two of two button” and select. Navigate through the list and select the desired bookmark.

iPhone - Connecting the iPhone to Wireless Network – 7.1

1. Wi-Fi is a wireless standard for connecting electronic devices to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. A data plan will allow you to browse the internet and check email. The plans can vary quite substantially and estimating your data needs is important in keeping your monthly costs manageable.

2. With a 200MB plan you can send or receive 1,000 e-mails, surf 400 Webpages, and stream 20 minutes of YouTube video or online radio each month.

3. With a 2 GB plan, you can send or receive 10,000 e-mails, surf 4000 Webpages, and stream 200 minutes of YouTube video or online radio each month.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

1. Select the Safari app on Home screen.2. The website last accessed will appear.3. Web pages optimized specifically for mobile devices and those designed for larger

systems (usually identified as “Full Site”) can be viewed with Safari on the iPhone.Layout of Safari Screen

1. The Current Web Page’s Title is the first item spoken anytime a web page is accessed.

2. Below the Title is the Address Bar, listing the currently loaded web page’s web address.

3. To see the most updated content on a web page, select the Reload icon to the right of the Address Bar.

4. The next item is the Google Search Box. Google is the default search engine for the iPhone.

5. Located at the bottom of screen are five buttons. The Back button returns to the previously visited web site. The Forward button returns to the web page visited before selecting the Back button.

6. The remaining three will be discussed below: Utilities, Bookmarks, and Pages.7. Note: If the reader says the word “Dim” after reading an icon label, it means the icon

cannot be used at this time. For instance, when a new page is opened, the user cannot use the previous button since there is none, and the reader lets the user know by speaking “Previous button Dim”. This also comes into play when a link is selected and automatically opened in new page, so the user has to go to the “Pages” button referenced above and described below.

Searching for Specific Web Page1. When Safari is activated, dull clicks can be heard indicating a web page is loading. 2. Navigate the VoiceOver cursor to the “Web Address Text Field Box” and select. If

1. Some web pages have text fields and forms to fill out. If not using an external keyboard, the On-screen keyboard appears. Otherwise, just use the synced external keyboard.

2. When using the onscreen keyboard, select the Go, Search, or Done key to confirm text entry. The Return key on the external keyboard will do the same thing.

3. Move to another text field by using the on-screen Next and Previous buttons or the Tab key on the external keyboard.

Bookmarks and Web Page History1. Bookmarks allow easy and quick access to favorite web pages. To access existing

Safari Bookmarks, navigate the VoiceOver Cursor to the bottom of the page and select Bookmarks.

2. Within Bookmarks, bookmark folders are displayed in alphabetical order, followed by individual bookmarks, which are not stored in folders, in alphabetical order.

3. Navigate the list of Bookmarks, or select a folder name to navigate its contents. To go to a bookmarked web page, navigate to the desired bookmark and select.

4. History is where all the web pages accessed are stored in a list and by date. Access the History List by selecting History in the Bookmarks List.

5. Bookmarks can be grouped into folders for better organization. a. Select the Edit icon at bottom of screen. b. Select New Folderc. Type desired name for folder.d. Select Done

6. To move bookmark into existing folder or out of existing folder:a. Select the Edit icon at the bottom of main Bookmarks screen. b. Navigate and select the bookmark to move. c. Navigate to Bookmarks. d. Navigate list for desired folder and select folder name to confirm move. e. To remove a bookmark from a bookmark folder, select the Bookmarks icon at

top of folder list. Utilities

1. To access, navigate to bottom of screen and select Utilities.2. Utilities is where the user can:

a. Save the current web page as a Bookmarkb. Save the current web page as a Home screen app.c. Send the web page as a link to an e-mail addressd. And, Printing currently opened web page content.

Deleting Web History1. Select the Bookmarks icon at bottom of screen.2. Select the History icon listed first among the Bookmarks list. 3. Navigate to the bottom of page to the Clear History icon and select to confirm.

The Web Rotor1. The Web Rotor, in conjunction with VoiceOver and the Safari app, allows internet

movement by characters, words, lines, links, headings, and quick access to adjust the readers speaking rate.

2. A Form Control option makes it easier to enter information when presented with a series of text field boxes.

iPhone - The Web Rotor – 9.9

1. The Web Rotor, in conjunction with VoiceOver and the Safari app, allows internet movement by characters, words, lines, links, headings, and quick access to adjust the readers speaking rate.

2. A Form Control option makes it easier to enter information when presented with a series of text field boxes.

3. To access the Web Rotor Settings and choose which rotor options to activate, go to Settings>General>Accessibilities>VoiceOver>Web Rotor>and select options.

4. In the VoiceOver settings list, make sure “Speaking Rate: Include in Rotor” is selected as “On”.

5. There are two ways to activate the Web Rotor. o If using the touch screen, try using the index finger and thumb of same hand to

store, download apps, update previously downloaded apps, and delete apps. Lesson Outline: What is the App. Store?

1. The Apple App Store is where the user can download application programs directly to their iPhone.

2. Though many apps are free to download and use, some do cost a fee. Keep searching for a desired app if there is a fee to download. Often, there might be another free app that does the same thing.

3. To use the App Store, the iPhone must have an Internet connection.4. The user will also need their Apple ID and password to download apps.

Entering the App. Store1. To Enter the App Store, navigate to the App Store app from the iPhone’s Home

screen and select.2. Within the App Store Application, there exists many ways to browse and search for

2. Touch and hold any app on the Home screen until all of the apps start to jiggle. 3. Select the X in the corner of the app to delete, then select Delete.4. Inform the veteran that if an app is deleted, all documents associated with the app are

deleted from the iPhone as well. However, even though the data is now inaccessible, it still exists on the iPhone’s internal hard drive.

Subject: Using Dragon Dictation for the iPhone.Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPhone, USB charger/power adapter, and an

external keyboard.Performance Objective: In this lesson, the veteran will learn how to use the Dragon

Dictation App. This will include composing a new note, correcting any word mistakes, deleting parts of the note, copying, cutting, and pasting note into a different app, and sending the note via e-mail.

Lesson Outline: Composing Messages

1. The iPhone must be connected to a network in order to use the App.2. Select the Green Dragon Dictation app located on the Home screen. 3. If there is no leftover note from a previous dictation, VoiceOver will speak “Tap and

Dictate button.” 4. Speak clearly and use short sentences. When finished speaking, navigate the

VoiceOver Cursor to Stop Recording. See note below to turn on “Detect End-of-Speech switch button” in the settings.

5. To add more dictated text to the note, simply navigate to the “Record button” again, select, and follow previous steps for recording voice.

6. Note: If Dragon is unable to focus in on the user’s voice, an error message will appear stating the environment is noisy. Navigate the cursor to Ok and double tap screen.

7. Note: If unable to move VoiceOver Cursor, flick from bottom to top of screen with two fingers to start the reader from top of page.

8. Note: There are two options to end a recording. First, the default option is to double tap the screen with single finger to stop. Second, in the Settings menu, navigate to “Detect End-of-Speech switch button” and double tap the screen to turn On.

Correcting Text1. To Edit transcribed text, first navigate to “Keyboard” and select. The reader will read

dictated text, so listen for any possible mistakes.2. Turn on the VoiceOver Web Rotor and activate navigating by “Characters”. 3. Flick single finger from bottom to top of screen to move cursor to letter left of current

cursor position, and from top to bottom to advance cursor one character. The Up and Down Arrows will do this on an external keyboard.

4. Use previously learned keyboard keys to edit note.5. When finished with editing, navigate back to the “Keyboard button” and select.6. Making corrections to the errors in the dictated text will also help improve your voice

recognition over time.

“Add from Address Book button”, and select. 6. Navigate through the list of Contacts and select the desired contact. Repeat step if

desiring to send to more than one e-mail address.7. If desired, navigate to the Subject line and enter a brief title for e-mail.8. To Send, navigate back to the “Send button” and select.9. This note will be deleted from Dragon Dictation if sending is successful.

Copying Dictated text1. Another option is Copying the dictated text, and Pasting it in a different application. 2. Navigate to the “Menu button” and select.3. Navigate to the “Copy button” and select. 4. Press the Home button to return to the Home screen and select the app you wish to

Paste the dictated text onto. The Notes application is recommended.5. This is a better way to store dictated notes, and a network connection is not needed to

view any notes dictated from Dragon Dictation since the note is now stored on the iPhone.

iPhone - Dragon Dictation – Correcting Dictated Text – 12.2

1. To Edit transcribed text, first navigate to “Keyboard” and select. The reader will read dictated text, so listen for any possible mistakes.

2. Turn on the VoiceOver Web Rotor and activate navigating by “Characters”. 3. Flick single finger from bottom to top of screen to move cursor to letter left of current

cursor position, and from top to bottom to advance cursor one character. The Up and Down Arrows will do this on an external keyboard.

Subject: Scanning and Printing Instructional Aids or Materials Needed: iPhone, USB charger/power adapter, and the HP

how to scan and copy images, printing & e-mailing images from the Photo app.Lesson Outline: Initial Orientation to Printer

1. Orientation should include:A. Power cord and power jack.B. Power button.C. Paper trays, how to insert paper, and adjust paper rails to adjust to proper sheet

size.D. How to lift entire top section to expose ink cartridges.E. How to insert and remove ink cartridges.F. Scanner lid and glass surface of scanner.G. Items to be scanned need to be positioned face down on the glass surface.H. Touch screen.I. SD Card (Memory Card) slot.

2. Printer and iPhone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. See below for instructions for connecting printer to a wireless network.

3. The printer automatically chooses the appropriate paper from one of its two paper trays. The options include photo paper measuring 4x6 up to 5x7, and standard 8 ½ x 11 blank sheets.
