FWR Conference Update
Attending a regional conference is usually a great way to connect with friends you have not seen in a while, meet new sorors, expand your knowledge of the sorority and be inspired for the coming year.
The FWR Board is excited about this year’s conference and we are sure each attending soror will have a great time.
If you are still thinking about attending, be sure to call the Palace Station Hotel (1-800-634-3101) by midnight April 10th to receive the convention rate on your reservation.
The code for the FWR Conference is PCIFWRC. Be sure to ask for a room in the tower.
If circumstance will not allow you to attend the FWR Conference this year, we still need your help. Please send the names and contact information for women you know who live in the Las Vegas area. A small public luncheon has been planned for Saturday, April 26 and we would love to introduce Iota to your friends and make them our friends. Please send names and contact information to Myrtle Smith [email protected]

Lola’s Girls Stepping Up
Soror Delphine Metcalf-Foster, a U.S. Army veteran, was elected National 3rd Junior Vice Commander of the 1.2 million-member DAV at the organization's 2013 National Convention in Orlando, Florida in August 2013. She is the first African-American female to be in the National Line of officers in its 92 years of existence.
Iota women are accomplished leaders in their communities and have much to be proud of. “Lola’s Girls Stepping Up” has been created to allow our great sisterhood to learn about and
celebrate the milestones and achievements that take place in the lives of our sorors, our Men of Iota, our Pelati and our children
Soror Metcalf-Foster is a life member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 21, Vallejo, CA, where she currently serves as Adjutant. She has served in nearly all elected and appointed offices, including Department of California Commander in 2004-2005, has been a member of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Advisory
Committee on Women Veterans since 2011. DAV Volunteers in California donate hours to veterans at all VA hospitals and many non-VA facilities throughout the state. Through a variety of local programs the DAV reaches into their communities, seeking new ways to help disabled veterans and their families.
The successful woman remembers yesterday with pride,
lives today with enthusiasm, and looks to tomorrow with confidence.

Event Planning
The vast majority of community organizations in the world are relatively small. These organizations do their work without the fanfare of news stories and large donations bequeathed to larger and better known national and international organizations. But…these smaller groups are just as important as the larger groups because their mission is critically important in the communities they serve.
Building mechanisms for effective event planning takes time and patience, but it can (and should) be done. This workshop will bring new insights to event planning that will help your chapter build new relationships and networks.
