Most ION devices use the 8N1 standard (8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit) for serial communications. To

prevent communication errors, make sure all the devices on your serial communications loop are set to

8N1 (i.e. make sure the devices serial communications parameter is set to No parity).

    NOTE

When setting up the device addresses for multiple BCPMs, make sure each address is unique AND does

not cause address duplication or overlap between the BCPM devices.

    Device address considerationsSinceeachBCPMusestwodeviceaddresses,adoptingastandardforassigningBCPMdeviceaddressesishighlyrecommended.Forexample,youcanimplementadeviceaddressassignmentconventionthatspecificallyallowsonlyoddnumberedaddressesforagivenBCPM(i.e.,correspondingtoPanel 1). Usingthisconvention,anevennumbereddeviceaddresswillalwaysbePanel 2ofaparticularBCPM.

    BCPM device naming considerationsEachBCPMdeviceisaddedastwometersinIONSetup(i.e.,oneforPanel 1andtheotherforPanel 2). Forthisreason,itisrecommendedthatyouadoptaBCPMdevicenamingconventionsothateachhalfofagivenBCPMdevice(Panel 1,Panel 2)canbeeasilyidentified.
