THE BEST PROJECT IS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS If financial education is your passion, The BEST Project’s financial education programs are the right place for you!

Financial Education Instructors teach small groups about money management. The curriculum teaches practical money-management skills and promotes healthy savings habits, credit repair, debt reduction and access to the financial mainstream. Classes are offered to groups throughout the community – at workplaces, community centers and places of worship. Information Ambassadors speak to groups on various topics related to personal finance. Speaking engagements are typically one-time and range from high school classrooms to clients at UWBB Certified Agencies. Master Money Mentors provide one-on-one financial coaching to help individuals and families take control of their financial lives. Mentors receive intensive training in basic money management, strategies for dealing with financial problems, credit and debt management, savings, mentoring techniques, and connecting to community resources. You don’t have to know it all to work with us! Training classes take place year-round. To sign up or for more information, contact: R. Jai Gillum, Executive Director at 850.487.8091 or email [email protected].

Volunteers will be needed to help with ID checking, beverage distribution, and supervision of the children’s area. If you would like to help or would like more information, contact Kate Cruikshank at [email protected] or 850-414-0858. KIDS UNITED TOGETHER (KUT) KUT is a nonprofit youth center in Apalachicola, Florida. Kids served by this organization range in age from 5-18 years. KUT has been open for two years, operating in a gym sponsored by the city. The organization is in need of funding for repairs on the facility and for activity equipment. In an attempt to fundraise, KUT is holding a two weekend Haunted House this October. All admission proceeds will go to the center. KUT is fully insured and has been given permission to move forward by their mother nonprofit, Franklin's Promise. The next step is to stand before the county commissioner at an upcoming meeting to get their permission and support. Before the meeting, there needs to be a full plan of execution, along with reliable adult resources and volunteers to help build the Haunted House and put together a Halloween mini festival for the younger children. If you can help by volunteering your time or donating materials or funds, contact Sunny Stultz-Dunaway at 843-957-3248 or [email protected].

BUILDING TOMORROW Did you know 31 million children in Sub-Saharan Africa don't have a school to attend? Did you know that if every student at Florida State gave just $1.87, FSU could fund the construction of an entire school in Uganda? Do you want to do something to he lp? If so, check out Building Tomorrow! Building Tomorrow can help you find fun ways to teach other members of the FSU community about the education crisis and help motivate your peers to make a difference. You can host movie nights, participate in fundraisers, or even reach out to younger students in your community! Building Tomorrow envisions a world in which every child with a desire to learn has a safe, permanent place to do so. Visit www.buildingtomorrow.org for more information. LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES OF NORTH FLORIDA
