Artist Program offers
talented artists beginning
their professional careers a
full season of employment.
From August through April,
Resident Artists gain valuable
experience in assignments
ranging from ensemble,
understudy, comprimario to
leading roles in mainstage
performances. Resident Artists
also perform concerts on
stage at the Ordway Center
for Performing Arts, Schubert
Club’s Courtroom Concerts,
donor functions, adult
education classes and
regional outreach.
In the upcoming season, Lisa Marie Rogali will sing Lisette in La Rondine, Elena in Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, and cover Violetta in La Traviata. Recently she was a winner in the Kentucky District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Ms. Rogali received her M.M. in Vocal Performance from University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music & B.M.E. from Pennsylvania State University.
Stephen Martin recently returned from the Glimmerglass Opera Festival where he performed the role of the Kronprinz in Kevin Puts’ Silent Night. Stephen performed with Sarasota Opera as a Studio Artist during the 2017-2018 season, performing a variety of roles. He holds master’s degrees in voice performance & music theory pedagogy and a bachelor’s degree in voice performance from Michigan State University.
Praised for his “rolling mellifluous baritone” (Opera Today), Nicholas Davis became the first American to win first prize in the International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition. Nicholas is an alumnus of the University of Kentucky, the University of Michigan, Brevard Music Center, Des Moines Metro Opera apprentice program, Chicago Opera Theater young artist program, The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artists Program and the Santa Fe Opera apprentice program.
A sought-after collaborative pianist and vocal coach, Andrew Sun has served on the coaching staff at Manhattan School of Music and was an apprentice coach at the Merola Opera Program in 2017. Mr. Sun holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New York University and a Professional Studies Certificate from Manhattan School of Music.
