1. Invitation
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 11th
IUPAC International Conference on Novel Materials and their Synthesis (NMS-XI) and
Post-Conference in the coming October, 2015 in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, China. More than
160 invited lectures will present their recent research progress in various fields of novel materials
including their preparation, characterization, properties and applications. It is a good chance to
renew our friendship and to facilitate discussions on fine chemistry, biomaterials, functional
polymers, energy storage and conversion materials, nano materials, ceramic materials, metallic
materials, and other novel materials.
Yanshan University can be traced back to the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) founded
in 1920. In 1958, the Department of Heavy Machinery of HIT and its related specialties moved to
the strategic industrial town of Fulaerji, Qiqihar in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and
was renamed the School of Heavy Machinery of HIT. In 1960, the school became independent as
the Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute, and in 1978, it was accredited a national key institutions
of higher learning. Starting from 1985, it began to relocate southward to the historic seaside city of
Qinhuangdao and completed the migration in 1997 when it was accredited by the former State
Education Commission to adopt the present name of Yanshan University. In 2014, the People’s
Government of Hebei Province, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s
Republic of China, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China signed agreement to
co-construct Yanshan University. Its campus covers an area of 4,000 mu (or 267 hectares) with a
total floor space of 1,000,000 m2. At present, the university has a faculty and staff of 3000
including 2000 teachers, of which 413 are professors and 630 associate professors. The university
has a student population of 39,000.
Qinhuangdao City is named from the history of the first emperor in China. He sent some
staffs to search for Gods from this port city so that he could enjoy the ever-long life. It is tourist
resort with rich history.
If you have further questions or problems, please contact us in time.
Looking forward to your active participation to add a lot of colors to the success of this
Conference!
Have a pleasant stay in Qinhuangdao !
Sincerely yours,
Faming Gao
