int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { int a,b; for(a=0;a<atoi(argv[1]);a++) {

for ( b=a; b>=0; b--) { printf("*"); } printf("\n"); }

return 0; }

2. Create a program to encode and decode a word Your program will receive 2 integer input and a word (string from A-Z) The first integer is the mode (1 is encode and 2 is decode) The second integer is the modifier Example: Cmd: gcc code Input:

Programming (Application Project)

BINUS INTERNATIONAL Computer Championship 2011

Concept

Nowadays, everyone uses many applications in their computers to help them on doing tasks, finishing work, making a report and many more. Computer applications become common and a requirement for everybody in the city with modern technology. Thus, it is important for us, the next generation, to continue on improving the application quality and find best programs to fulfill the demands. In this Application Project competition, participants are expected to create a unique, useful, and usable application in any supported platform. Your innovation, ideas, and imagination will determine the application program that you will make. It is important to focus on one idea and develop it to the next level rather than implement all-but-standard features that are already existed in the market. Not only that, the application also has to be useful or ready to use for many people or, better yet, the public itself. Programs that are only used by few people will be obsolete in the near future because there will be no support for it. Last but not least, it has to be created with interesting design and up-to-date with the current situation and condition. The application can be simple-and-clear, sophisticated-yet-elegant, or maybe others. The possibilities are limitless; you may use your wildest imagination to produce such a thing. Participant will be given a specific theme from committee which they may create it before the BITMAP 2011 days (off-site) and submit it, maximum, on the given specific dateline. It is also important for participant to consider the overall theme of BITMAP 2011, which is “Chance to Advance”. The competition only has 1 champion and 1 favorite winner and the winners will be announced on the last day of BITMAP 2011. Rules Below are the rules for the competition:

1. A team consists of 1 to 2 members. 2. The theme is: Enhancing Life Project. 3. Participants have to create an application project (program) according to the theme. 4. Participants may build the application before the given dateline (12th October 2011). 5. The size limit of the core application is 20 MB. If participants need to include additional

files that exceed the size limit, please inform the head of the competition division in advance.

Page 15: Invitation BITMAP 2011

14

6. Participants must submit the application, latest, on the given dateline, else it will not be judged.

7. The application is required to use good, structured English as the main language. 8. By entering the competition, each entrant certifies that their entries will not violate any

competition rules. The judges have the right to disqualify a nomination or a winner discovered to violate any rules.

9. Any software (IDE, debugger, compiler) are free to be used. The programming languages used are C/C++, Pascal, and Java. Committees use Free Pascal Compiler, Bloodshed Dev-C++, EditPlus, and NetBeans to compile the programs.

10. The application that is created by participant must be original (their own program and source codes) and it has not been used before in any other application competitions.

11. Report of the application should also be included (The contents of the report consist of the purpose of the application, the concept of creation, flow (may be a flowchart or any graphic representation) of the program when running and manual or guide to run/operate the application program).

12. Application and report are available to be uploaded to the BITMAP 2011 – Programming: Application Project Web Server after the participant pays the registration fee and given a username and password to upload it, latest by 12th October 2011.

13. The best 3 applications will be announced on the BITMAP 2011 event day and their names will be shown in the BITMAP 2011 website.

14. The winner of the best application will present their application program in the second day of BITMAP 2011 to the audiences and judges.

15. The favorite winner (picked by committees) will also present their application program in the second day of BITMAP 2011 to the audiences and judges.
