Investing in new generations of Judaeans

• Judaeans have an informed, inspired, and deep commitment to Israel.

• Judaeans appreciate the many paths and traditions that lead to meaningfulJewish living.

• Judaeans lead by example and make positive change in the world.

For over a century, Young Judaea has been creating passionate, pluralistic Jews with a life-long connection to Israel and the Jewish people. More than 50,000 alumni have experienced Young Judaea programs, and are disproportionately represented among the most committed and active American Jews. Over 5,000 Young Judaea alumni live in Israel. That impact continues today: more than 6,000 people took part in Young Judaea programs during the past year alone.

Whether proudly supporting Israel on college campuses, leading organizations that promote joyful participation in the Jewish community, or raising children with a love of Israel and Judaism – Judaeans are taking action in their communities and in the world.

Today, after nearly half a century as a program of Hadassah, Young Judaea is emerging as a newly independent organization. We invite all those who care about the Jewish future to join us and nurture new generations of Judaeans and committed Jews.

Why Young Judaea? Why now?An increasingly diverse Jewish community has great need for a pluralism that is welcoming to all backgrounds and beliefs. And, as Israel’s legitimacy is attacked from all sides, it is vital that we educate our youth about Israel and its role in the past, present and future of the Jewish people.

Young Judaea offers an inclusive approach that nurtures pride in being Jewish, a broad understanding of what being Jewish means, a lifelong connection to Israel, and creates leaders and activists committed to changing the world. If you share Young Judaea’s commitment to Israel, pluralism, and tikkun olam – join us!

What is Young Judaea Today?Young Judaea is more than a series of great programs – it is an ecosystem that offers participants a continuum of interrelated Jewish involvement and leadership development experiences through every stage of their formative years.

This ecosystem includes:Five regional summer camps offering immersive Jewish and Zionist summer experiences. A newly-established day camp in Brooklyn, NY, offering a pioneering dual Hebrew-English language curriculum for children entering pre-K to 2nd grade. Camp Tel Yehudah, Young Judaea’s national teen leadership experience, which shapes the Jewish community’s next generation of leaders.Year-round programs, where children, teens and college students volunteer, learn, celebrate, and lead, developing the skills that will transform them into actively engaged adults.Teen summer programs in Israel that take participants beyond the tour bus and into the center of Israeli life. Year Course, the premier gap year program in Israel for more than 50 years.College and post-college Israel programs, including WUJS Israel, where college graduates intern for a semester in Israel in the field of their choice; Amirim, a summer volunteer program in Israel for college students; andYoung Judaea’s Taglit-Birthright Israel trips, which have successfully engaged thousands of unaffiliated and marginally affiliated young adults.Social action programs such as Alternative Winter Break, which engages high school students in working with underprivileged communities. The Judaean Network, offering lifelong engagement opportunities for Judaean alumni, friends, and family.

Young Judaea is a leadership path that enables participants to steadily deepen their commitment to Zionism, Jewish life, and positive social change. As Judaeans advance along this path, they gain hands-on leadership experience – as camp counselors, advisors for programs for younger kids during the school year, leaders in alumni programs, and more, building the skills that will help them become informed, impactful communal leaders. Many alumni attribute much of their success as adults – in business, family, and communal life – to their Young Judaea leadership experiences.

You can help build the future of Young Judaea. Your support will educate and create the next generation of Young Judaeans to lead the Jewish community forward and make positive change in the world.
