Blessed with a delicious natural larderFife is foodie heaven. On the stunning East Coast of Scotland, the region is a wondrous place to live, with a wide variety of options from bustling towns to quaint villages to the breath-taking coast and magnificent hills.
Fife is full of hidden treasures, and each visit to the region uncovers new and delightful food and drink experiences. If you’re a food lover, a visit to Fife is a must.
The spiritual birthplace of Whisky
For any whisky lover, a visit to Lindores will be a pilgrimage as it is recognised as the spiritual home of Scotch whisky. It is where the earliest written reference of whisky distillation was recorded in 1494.
The Fife drinks scene has taken off in the last few years. There are now several craft breweries, including Eden Mill, St Andrews Brewing Company and Abbot Brew House in Dunfermline.
The surge in popularity of gin has also seen an explosion in its production, with the latest gin visitor experience in the Kingdom to be found at Kingsbarns.
Award-winning chefs & restaurants
The Cellar Restaurant in Anstruther, is a Michelin star establishment serving food inspired by seasonal Scottish produce.
The Peat Inn, near Cupar, is Fife’s other Michelin star restaurant. It’s run by Geoffrey Smeddle, an award-winning chef and food columnist for the Herald on Sunday.
The Newport Restaurant’s, head chef Jamie Scott was crowned the winner of MasterChef Professionals in 2014 and in September 2018 the restaurant won the coveted AA Hospitality Award – Restaurant of the Year (Scotland).

Successful stories from Fife InchDairnie Distillery http://inchdairniedistillery.com
InchDairnie Distillery is a new single malt, Lowland Scotch whisky distillery. The distillery, which is completely new, was built on a greenfield site here in the heart of Fife.
Realising that there was a gap in the market for a small whisky distillery which would produce an exciting, flavoursome whisky – Inchdairnie, meaning low lying land close to water – started distilling it’s first whisky in December 2015. It will be released to market in the future when it reaches it’s full peak.
Choosing to locate in Fife was easy. Fife was able to provide a large area of land to accommodate a distilling and maturation warehouse where all of the Inchdairnie Single Malt is matured.
Fife provides an excellent location to start a distillery business by being so close to the motorway network, energy utilities and Grangemouth docks for container shipping.
InchDairnie Distillery maximise their flavour by using malted barley only grown in Fife. The distillery has its own separate still for research and development which they carry out in partnership with Fife based Tatlock and Thomson Scientific Services.
“The support we got from Invest in Fife was critical to us coming here and being as successful as we are.
Their continued support has contributed to the ongoing success
of the distillery.”Ian Palmer

Growers Garden https://growers-garden.com
Growers Garden broccoli crisps originate from a farm diversification project aiming to promote sustainable farming by increasing crop usage and reducing food waste. Growers Garden produce the world’s first crisp to contain FRESH broccoli as the no.1 ingredient, utilising out grades and wonky broccoli from their Scottish farms in the process.
Fife is the perfect location for the business as it is easily accessible to the 16 growers who are based within Fife, Perthshire, Angus and the Scottish Borders. Not only this but Fife provides excellent transport links to the rest of Scotland and beyond for customers and suppliers.
Growers Garden recently invested in their own facility as they quickly became aware that existing snack producers were not willing to put fresh wet broccoli through their nice dry factories! To overcome this Growers Garden designed and built an extrusion facility within the heart of Fife. The team now produce their own product within Fife as well as having the facility to offer other producers innovative and industry leading extruded snacks.
