Core curriculum The MSF program consist of 32 credit hours. Current core curriculum in-

cludes the following courses:FIN 5317 – Financial Institutions and Risk Management FIN 5425 – Problems in Financial ManagementFIN 5515 – Investment Management & Analysis FIN 5537 – Financial Derivatives & Risk Management FIN 5605 – Multinational Financial Management FIN 5840 – Applied Econometrics in FinanceFIN 5917 – Professional Development Series (1 credit hour in the fall and

the spring)FIN 5935 – Investment BankingFIN 5935 – Computer Skills for Financial AnalysisMAN 5716 – Economic and Business Conditions Analysis REE 5305 – Real Estate Investments

Note: FIN 5935 repeats because it’s a special topics class with a new fo-cus.

PrerequisitesAll applicants must complete specific business foundation courses with a cumulative overall GPA of 3.00 or better, and an upper division GPA of 3.4 or better, prior to enrollment in the MSF program. Minimum prerequisites include Financial Accounting (ACG 2021 or its equivalent), an introductory course in Financial Management (FIN 3403 or its equivalent), Investments (FIN 4504 or its equivalent), and Problems in Financial Management (FIN 4424 or its equivalent). All students without acceptable real-world work experience are required to have completed an internship prior to entering the program.

Cost of an MSF degreeFSU’s MSF program follows tuition rates for graduate studies throughout the university. Tuition rates are subject to change.

Admission guidelinesAdmission to the MSF program is highly competitive and based on the academic and professional credentials of the applicant pool. The College of Business generally recommends an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 overall and 3.4 for upper-division courses, a minimum total score of 530 on the GMAT. The average GMAT score is 610.

Given the limited class size, it is likely that most who are admitted to the program will have credentials considerably above the specified minimums.

1. An applicant’s statement of purpose for pursuing the MSF Degree (1-2 pages)

2. An up-to-date resume, clearly indicating an excellent prior academic record, from accredited universities, and any work experience includ-ing dates and positions held

3. Three recommendations: Two (2) recommendations from former college professors and one (1) recommendation from outside of the academic environment that speak specifically of the applicant’s abil-ity to successfully complete the MSF program and other attributes which make the applicant a valuable addition to the MSF Program
