Sprint If your credit union is already participating on the Sprint Credit Union Member Discount Plan, now is a great time to look at your marketing plan and schedule an insert mailing for next Contract Year. The 2009-2010 Contract Year begins with the October mailing of the September quarterlies. The renewal form is now online. If you would like to select an October mailing, please fax your form to 734.793.5160 by Sep. 1. If your credit union has not yet signed a Sprint marketing agreement, the contract is now available online. Credit union leagues/LSCs that are interested should contact Angie Hall at 800.262.6285, ext. 521 for more information on partnerships. Additionally, credit unions and Leagues can learn more about the plan by joining one of our free monthly webinars. These informational sessions detail the program and last approximately 15 minutes. Marketing Updates

Invest in America Sales Kits Now Available

In an effort to help leagues promote the Invest in America program to their credit unions, we have developed a sales kit packed with up-to-date program and marketing information. The kit explains in detail the Invest in America program and how to promote it as a league to your credit unions. It also provides excellent examples to show your credit unions how they can market the program to their members. From a fact sheet and PowerPoint presentation to marketing information and e-mail templates, you’ll have everything you need to help support the Invest in America program.

The Sales Kit can be downloaded from the Partner Center at LoveMyCreditUnion.org. Some of the elements can be customized with your contact information. Folders and a leave-behind piece have been pre-printed and are available for your use by contacting Nancy Sawicki at [email protected]. Supplies of the printed materials are limited, so get your request in soon.

New Invest in America Marketing Campaign

A new marketing campaign for Invest in America will be available in the next few weeks on LoveMyCreditUnion.org. The campaign markets the overall Invest in America program incorporating all of the member discounts. The theme of this new campaign leverages the concepts of value and savings. The campaign elements will include: postcards, statement inserts, two poster sizes, print ads, newsletter articles, web homepage content, web banners, e-blasts and on-hold messages. Keep watching LoveMyCreditUnion.org to access the new campaign.

Plans for the 70% Advertising Pool

Big Plans are underway for the 70% advertising pool that is being generated by sales of GM and Chrysler vehicles. Credit union marketing efforts have the greatest potential of building awareness of the Invest in America program – viral marketing at its best. To support their efforts, all participating credit unions will receive printed marketing materials completely free of charge. That means about 100 million statement inserts and 25 million mail pieces that will be promoting the Invest in America program.

Additionally, with the positive results we’ve seen from online advertising and search engine optimization, a significant portion of the ad pool will be dedicated to digital media to further support credit unions in their marketing efforts.

Lovemycreditunion.org Facelift

We are giving LoveMyCreditUnion.org a new look to accommodate additional programs and features. The new design will be implemented in July - stay tuned!

Social Media

Over the past month, we have seen tremendous growth in the number of credit unions using Twitter and LoveMyCU (https://twitter.com/LoveMyCU) now has over 450 followers. We have had some great conversations with credit unions and credit union influencers about Invest in America - their successes with the program and using Twitter as a means to promote the program, their loans and the contests run on our website. We are doing this to spotlight these proactive credit unions, but also to inspire other credit unions to follow suit and illustrate best practice ideas in the industry.

FAIRWINDS Credit Union, Florida

FAIRWINDS Credit Union has a banner on their home page which links to an internal page that describes the Invest in America program. The internal page highlights the benefits of the credit union’s low auto loan rates and the Invest in America program. GM and Chrysler each have their own page describing their offer, with links to the Love My Credit Union website. FAIRWINDS has also carried the Love + Trust = My Credit Union brand into their web site, reinforcing the branding message on the Love My Credit Union web site.

Empower Federal Credit Union, NY (www.empowerfcu.com)

Empower Federal Credit Union created a customized home page banner which links to a PDF promoting Invest in America. By customizing the banner on their home page with a bright yellow car and using it as the only graphic, they really draw attention to the program.

Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, MI

Michigan State University FCU is running ads promoting Invest in America, their low auto loan rates and Going Green. By combining Invest in America with the popularity of “Going Green”, they are boosting the effectiveness of the campaign.

Alliant Credit Union, IL

Alliant has a full page banner promoting Invest in America. The banner links to each program directly and on the Love My Credit Union site and also promotes the credit union’s low auto loan rates

Central Missouri Community Credit Union, MO

Central Missouri Community Credit Union teamed up with a local dealer to promote Invest in America. They displayed a new car each week at one of their branches. By working with a dealer, the credit union was able to showcase the promotion in a unique way and grab the attention of both members and potential members.

Northwood Credit Union, MI

Northwood placed an article highlighting Invest in America on the front page of their January newsletter. The article provided their members with a step by step guide to obtaining either a GM or Chrysler discount. They also tied the 2009 American International Auto Show within the article, tying their promotion to a very popular local event.

Georgia Credit Union Affiliates

They have an Invest in America banner on their home page which promotes the vehicle discount program.

In addition, two Georgia Credit Unions Atlantic City Employees Credit Union and First Choice Employees Credit Union teamed up with Superior Chevrolet to offer a Credit Union Car Sale. They promoted it via a radio spot.

CORE Credit Union, GA

CORE Credit Union has partnered with a local dealer to offer the GM discount to credit union members.

In addition to featuring the Invest in America program on the home page of its Web site, the credit union has produced flyers promoting the program.
