Dear Friends of River City Pops,

Welcome to our 2016 Spring show, The Brit-ish Invasion! We’re so happy to be returning to the Long Center this year with a new show, a new director, and a new attitude!

We set out to create this show with nothing but an eclectic mix of voices and ideas, and an enormous catalog of music to choose from. In fact, one of the most difficult parts of creating The British Invasion was choos-ing exactly which artists and numbers to in-clude. What we came up with is an upbeat, emotional, and enjoyable homage to our brothers and sisters across the pond, with songs that can be enjoyed by our seasoned patrons and our newest guests! We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.

One of the things we love about our great city is its appreciation for the arts. Even in a tough financial climate, this city makes an effort to fund the arts. River City Pops is very fortunate to benefit from that support. Much of the arts funding comes from the city’s hotel tax, therefore we are especially grate-ful tonight for all of our out-of-town guests. If you are visiting from another city, please take a moment to complete our survey enclosed in this program. This information will allow us to continue to apply for that much needed, and much appreciated, city funding.

We also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you, our patrons! It is with your continued support, and generous contributions, that River City Pops has been able to entertain Austin for 28 years and counting. We could not do this without you. Thank you for sharing your time, contributions and smiles with us! We LOVE each and every one of you!

We want to thank each and every one of you for joining us tonight, and we invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the only invasion to ever take hold in America, the British Invasion!

For Kendra.

Andrew Engroff (Bass) - Andrew has been a performing musician of one sort or another for over twenty years, including many musicals; this is his sixth year with RCP. He works at Blackbaud where he “codes for cause”, helping write software used by the non-profit sector. Andrew spends his time playing video and board games, reading fantasy novels (especially Brandon Sanderson), singing karaoke, and enjoying the effects of his ani-mal magnetism*. Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap

Andrew Nguyen (Bass) - “Ayo” is back for another round :) He's excited to perform with such a talented group of people again! AYO attended UT and was part of the Longhorn Singers for 4 years \m/. He's taking a brief hiatus from teaching to pursue a career in golf instruction and to become a panda choreographer. In his spare time, Andrew likes to cook, eat what he cooks, take afternoon naps, go on long walks, and house sit (shameless plug, let me know if you are looking for a house sitter!). He would like to thank his astounding friends and family for immeasurable love, and he hopes you enjoy the show!

Ann Richards (Alto) - Ann is excited to be performing in her first show with River City Pops. Recently, she was seen as Lady Anne is the George-town Palace Theater's production of Camelot. Favorites also include An-nie in Chicago, and Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Angie in The Wedding Singer. She has done many other musical productions with Austin Playhouse, Zilker Theatre Productions, and The State Theatre/Live Oak. By day, Ann is a 7th grade teacher in English and math. Much love to her penguin, Tim!

Ashley Simmons (Soprano) - This is Ashley's fourth year with RCP. When not having a bloody good time with her fellow RCP chaps, Ashley practices Acupuncture out of her office in Round Rock. Much love goes out to her close family and friends. And a special "thank you" to Molly for making this such a memorable year. (Happy Birthday, Shawn! And Happy Father's Day, Mark and Bill!) She’s not There - The Zombies.

Angelia McIntyre (Alto) - This is Angelia’s 13th year with RCP, and she feels lucky to be part of such an amazing and talented group. This year she is enjoying the added responsibility of being on the RCP Board of Di-rectors for the first time. In her spare time she loves to read, go camping and fishing, and watch baseball. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Chris Lanier (Bass) - Chris is excited to be performing for his 3rd season with River City Pops. He discovered his love for performing in show choir

Craig Barron (Tenor) - As one of the oldest, and wisest, RCP members, Craig is especially pleased to be performing this year’s theme. Having grown up in the days of The Beatles, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and proudly owning the nickname “Red Zeppelin” throughout high school, the music in this show is basically a rock-n-roll tribute to his childhood...minus the hair. In fact, Queen was the first band he ever saw in concert. Just ask him how many times he saw Fleetwood Mac! An Austinite for the past 27 years, Craig has worn many hats in the city’s performing arts community and plans to continue as long as they’ll let him. Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin.

Eddie Hauser (Tenor) - Eddie is excited to be hitting the stage for his 8th show with RCP. A lifelong singer, the only time he isn't carrying a tune is when crafting eyewear as an optician, or curling up on the couch with his crazy dog, Riley, and fat cat, Cole. The world owes some debt of gratitude to Andrew for standing by Eddie's side and keeping him under control, or at least out of public enough to give the world a break (who knows why he took on the task, we don't even pay him!). Of course, Love also goes to Mom & Dad and a huge, loving and supportive family. Kiss from a Rose - Seal.

Clay Cooper (Tenor)- This is Clay’s third year to be a part of Austin's Premier Show Choir, River City Pops. He has loved every second of it and wouldn't want to be a part of any other group. Along with RCP he has performed in many shows in Austin with his most recent one being TSP & AJRT's Fiddler on the Roof. He would like to thank all the support that he has. Thank you to all of those in the choir for being apart of my life!!

Haley Vincent (Soprano) - After a few years elsewhere, Haley Vincent is excited to be back on stage in Austin and performing alongside the many talented members of RCP. Originally from Tyler, she is a University of Texas grad and currently teaches 5th and 6th grade science at Bryker Woods Elementary (Go Panthers!). While in college, Haley was a mem-ber of the Longhorn Singers and enjoyed many performances and adven-

freshman NUGI in Longhorn Singers at The University of Texas at Aus-tin. When he's not rehearsing or on stage, he works with Cater2.me and Greenbelt Greens helping manage day-to-day operations. He would like to congratulate his girlfriend, Megan, on finishing her first year teaching, and thank his family for their love and support. Hook'em horns! Elle me Dit - Mika.

Hindatu Mohammed (Alto) - This is Hindatu’s 2nd year in RCP, and first year as a non-pregnant performer :) She is thrilled to be able to perform with such a talented group. Between working full time as a veterinarian and owner of Allandale Vet Clinic, caring for 2 small children and man-aging a house full of animals, she doesn’t have much free time. She enjoys spending time with her family and eating her way through Austin. She would like to thank her husband Michael for keeping her sane and keep-ing the kids entertained while she is at rehearsal. A special thanks as well to her family near and far, and to all of her supportive co workers. She is looking forward to being a part of another great show this year. Her 4 year old son is still singing the songs from last year’s performance (every. single. night.) so she is also looking forward to teaching him some new

Jenny Grantham (Alto)- has been singing and dancing with RCP for six years. To pay the bills, she works as a speech and language pathologist and runs early intervention groups for preschool age children with autism. She received her masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is extremely grateful for the love and support of her family, especially her parents who taught her to appreciate all types of music. Mockingbird - The BeatlesJonathan Hiebert (Bass)- When Jonathan Hiebert is not singing and dancing with RCP he is president of Push Pull Open Close, the mobile decorative hardware store. Jonathan has a degree in technical theater with an emphasis in costume design. He has worked with other local the-ater groups such as Austin Shakespeare and Zilker theater productions. He is also a silversmith and jewelry designer. This is his 6th show with RCP over the last 13 years.

Kelle Wright (Alto) - Kelle recently finished the Harry Potter books, is currently watching season 4 of Downton Abby and is a fan of anyone named Hugh, so she's basically British now and bloody excited for this show. She thinks the group is the bee's knees, loves performing with such talented mates, and has had a brilliant time for the last 11 years.

the group during her four years. She has also performed with other cho-ral ensembles across Texas and just finished her first season with Chorus Austin as well. Other than music and teaching, Haley enjoys Chick-Fil-A, The Office, and college football (Hook ‘Em!). Her two favorite holidays are Christmas and Texas/OU Weekend. Shout to all of my family, friends, and students that are reading this – love to you all, enjoy the show! Popu-lar Song - Mika w/ Aria Grande.

Megan Cristwell (Soprano) - Megan is very pleased to be in River City Pops for a 3rd year! When she isn't singing and dancing her heart out, Megan is a 2nd grade teacher at Widen Elementary. Megan also enjoys spoiling her corgi puppy, Watson and hanging out with her ridiculous boyfriend Christopher. Also, hi Mom and Dad! I love you! Spice up your Life - The Spice Girls.

Maranda Moody (Soprano) - Maranda is tickled to be in her third RCP show as her love for singing and dancing knows no bounds! Outside of the choir, Maranda is also a member of the Austin City Showgirls dance team at Le Studio. Her Austin theatre credits include Chicago (Half and Half Productions), Oklahoma!, and Hairspray (Zilker Theatre Produc-tions). Maranda would like to give many thanks to Molly, Rose, and her fellow RCP members for another amazing season!

Kristy Markell (Soprano) - Kristy is delighted to be performing in her third River City Pops show! She has been singing in choirs and perform-ing in many musicals since she was in the 6th grade and is very happy and thankful to be a part of such a talented, fun group of people. By day, she works as a physician assistant. In her spare time, she enjoys watch-ing movies, reading, petting dogs, and exploring Austin with her close friends. She also really enjoys listening to British music. Many thanks to my parents who recently helped me renovate and move to a new condo amongst my busy work and RCP schedule. Enjoy the show! :) Wish You were Here - Pink Floyd / Jet Paul McCartney & WingsFor Kendra.

Laurena Jech (Alto) - Laurena recently graduated from UT Austin with a degree in Corporate Communication Studies and a minor in business. She is a certified life coach and passionately works to help people discov-er their areas of talent and live strategically to accomplish their desired goals. She was in Longhorn Singers during college at UT and now this is her first year in River City Pops. She is excited to share her first show with you! Cheers!

Marci Pettus (Alto) - Out in the West Texas town of Odessa, Marci fell in love with choir. She sang in various choirs growing up and landed a role in her high school's show choir, "Black Magic". Next, Marci moved to Aus-tin to attend the Paul Mitchell Academy. After graduation, she joined the greatest all female cover band of all time, “Hey, Gurl” where she sang and played keytar. Marci’s bff and band mate, Brittany, showed her the way to

Stephen Boren (Tenor) - Stephen is 29 years old and this is his first year as a member of River City Pops. It’s been a great experience and has helped him grow as a performer/singer. He enjoys long walks on the beaches, karoke, and hibachi grilling. Somebody to Love - Queen.

Peter Beilharz (Bass) - Peter is the Director of Student Accounts at St. Ed’s and a producer of the annual Zilker Summer Musical in the park when he’s not playing with his friends at RCP. Peter wants to thank the wonderful board for all their hard work. Not only do they work endlessly as board members they are performing for you on stage today. Peter feels he’s so fortunate to have been involved (almost 20 years) with such won-derful people. He is still having fun. 3 A.M. Eternal - KLF

Stephen Muir (Bass) - This is Stephen’s 9th year with RCP. He is a grad-uate of St. Edward’s University and has performed locally in various mu-sical productions. Stephen is a Business Consultant for a pharmaceutical research company. When not performing, he loves spending time with his wife Lisa and two daughters, Alyssa and Sabrina. Thank you to family and friends for their continued support and inspiration.

RCP. She auditioned and now she’s living the dream. Hairstylist by day and show choir siren by night. Wannabe - The Spice Girls

Suzanne McBride (Alto) - Having enjoyed the first 8 of her 12 years as a software engineer, Suzanne escaped the confines of a corporate high-tech career in the late ‘90’s. She now savors life’s creative juices as a freelance painter, sculptor, photographer/videographer and programmer/technical consultant. Suzanne enthusiastically enjoys volunteering, adventure trav-el, hiking, and launching into silly made-up songs in response to whatev-er is happening around her. This is her second year dancing and making beautiful music with the wonderful and talented people in RCP.

Robert Frazier (Tenor) - This is “Frazier’s” 16th performance with RCP. He is a graduate of The University of Texas with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance and a minor in vocal performance, and is currently completing his M.A. in Secondary Education at Texas State University. His previous credits, in addition to his 15 semesters performing with the UT Long-horn Singers, include Racing Demon, A Map of the World, Into the Woods, and The Imaginary Invalid. He will be performing as Pontius Pilate in the Wimberley Player’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar later this sum-mer. The Show must go On - Queen.

Molly Wissinger (Music Director) - This is Molly's debut season with RCP. Musical Direction credits include: Oklahoma!, Little Shop of Hor-rors, Guys and Dolls, Singin’ in the Rain, Songs For a New World, The Wizard of Oz, Schoolhouse Rock! Live, Dracula, and Thoroughly Modern Millie for Zilker Theatre, City Theatre, Thin Air Theatre Company, Butte Opera House, Zach Theatre PAS, and many others. Some direction cred-its: Parade, Thoroughly Modern Millie, PeterPan. Molly also works as a private repertoire coach and voice teacher and specializes in professional and college audition coaching. She has worked with The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance as a vocal coach and accompanist in the Musical Theatre focus and created the musical the-atre focus at the McCallum Fine Arts Academy. She has also taught for Zach Theatre, Tex-Arts, the Austin JCC, and the Texas Musical Theatre Workshop, as well as countless others. Molly has performed with Theatre Under the Stars, Austin Opera, Tex Arts, Zilker, the Butte Opera House, Crown Uptown, and many others. For fun, she writes music for podcasts and watches too much HGTV. Proud UT graduate (cum laude in Vocal Performance/American Studies). www.whatshouldising.com

Taylor Smith (Stage Manager) - Taylor is an Austin native and is in his third year as stage manager with River City Pops, previously running Let's Go to the Movies (2014) and Mixtape (2015). Also in Austin, he served as a Deck Electrician for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2008) and Co-Deck Manager for Little Shop of Horrors (2013), Oklahoma! (2014), and Hairspray (2015) for Zilker Theatre Productions. He has also served as production graphic designer for A Chorus Line, Scarlet Pimpernel, Beau-ty and the Beast, and Sweeney Todd for his high school alma mater, St. Andrew's Episcopal School.
