then how can we get our messages heard effectively when needed?Delineate the fast pace at which different traditional forms of media progressed into new media

a. In the past, when media hadnt arrived yet, if you wanted to have your opinions heard, there were few but also sophisticated options. You could make a public speech; however, there were some prominent problems. First, the number of audience could be very limited due to geographical and social barriers. Second, because of the formal nature of the gathering or the unsuitable types of listeners, many categories of information in general which could serve a meaningful purpose were deemed inappropriate.

News announcers were very popular in European countries in medieval time, acting as a bridge between the clergy and their peasants.Using a traditional form of media, you could have your story published on the newspaper.

Nevertheless, you had to go through a complex bureaucratic procedure and you must also convince the editors that your story was newsworthy enough for making the headlines. The same went for television and radio.

Therefore, only those possessing power or wealth could have the chance to make their voices heard. They surely werent the face of the entire world. Leaving the meek and mild voiceless in the dark is no longer acceptable.Delineate the fast pace at which different traditional forms of media progressed into new media

b. With the help of modern technology, the chances of your voice being heard are significantly higherNowadays, you can easily widen your connection simply by adding friends on social networks, namely Facebook or Twitter, and many other websites or applications. Sharing opinions is now faster than ever thanks to the Internet.

Statistics of the Internet usage as of April 2015Social networks are relatively free and user-friendly.

Therefore, they attract more and more users everyday, indirectly enlarging the size of your (virtual) audience.

The potential of the internet in the field of marketing

Even newspapers have begun to launch their pieces on social networking sites in order to attract more readers. Unbiased news agencies have been utilizing the Internet as a way to battle against the manipulation of the governments, promoting journalistic objectivity.

Therefore, these agencies are always willing to dig deeper and listen to the peoples voice more often.

TheRealNews commitment to journalistic objectivityThe Net helps us spread the news faster, cheaper and far more conveniently. It has now become the primary channel of communication between teachers and their students as well as among students themselves. 59% of students with access to the Internet report that they use social networking sites to discuss educational topics and 50% use the sites to talk about school assignments.

After George Middle School in Portland, OR introduced a social media program to engage students, grades went up by 50%, chronic absenteeism went down by 33%, and 20% of students school-wide voluntarily completed extra-credit assignments.

(Sarah Kessler, "The Case for Social Media in Schools," www.mashable.com, Sep. 29, 2010)

According to thePew Internet & American Life Project, 96% of 1829 year olds and three-quarters (75%) of teens now own a cell phone, 88% of whom text, with 73% of wired American teens using social networking websites, a significant increase from previous years.Point out some pros and cons in our current use of modern Internet-based interactive tools

a. The benefits:The Internet encourages interactions and discussions between students, employees, businessmen/businesswomen, and those who communicate on a daily basis.

Therefore, it helps people get to know each other better, work together more efficiently and to be entertained in various ways.

The Internet-based tools allow students to discuss assignments online fast and conveniently

UPs English Club is able to share useful learning resources with students thanks to its vlog Youtube channel.

Video conferences has revolutionized the way we communicate at work. The Internet can also act as a useful distributor of public announcement from the governments, from the local authorities or even as a useful tool in the fight against crime.

The Internet of Things, an American technology brand, has recently introduced a system called ShotSpotter, which recognizes when gun shots are fired in public and helps police identify where the gun that fired them might be located, via the Internet.Point out some pros and cons in our current use of modern Internet-based interactive tools

b. The drawbacks:Since everybody has the rights to state their opinions, its getting more and more challenging to control the spread of unverified rumors or unreliable information, such as that of the notorious ISIS or celebrities tabloids.

The Net can make people become less and less willing to participate in real-life interactions, which is a result of human over-reliance on machines and technological devices.

Social networking sites lack privacy and expose users to government and corporate intrusions.13 million users said they had not set or did not know about Facebook's privacy settings and 28% shared all or nearly all of their posts publicly, which is an alarming scenario.

(ConsumerReports.org, "Facebook & Your Privacy: Who Sees the Data You Share on the Biggest Social Network,"Consumer Reports, June 2012)

A new survey shows the scale of the mistrust, as nine out of ten (89%) British internet users admitted to being worried about online privacyThe variety of websites, applications, devices, etc. that can be used for delivering ones information to a number of people

Despite several defects in the Internet, theres no denying that it has revolutionized the way we communicate, push back the geographical limits and expand our horizon.

Online pages such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr, Pinterest, Wikipedia, YouTube, Reuters, Wikinews, CSPAN, etc. serve as the most useful tools to spread the words.

However, it is up to us now to decide what to say, how to say it and whom to say to.
