Introduction ‘Culture is defined as the characteristics of a particular group of people defined by their beliefs, customs and traditions (everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts).’ The theme for my portfolio is “Culture: Impact of Globalization on Caribbeanness”. The purpose is to examine the negative effects of technological development on our culture. In the exposition I focused on our contribution as a region to the ‘Global Village’ and highlighted the effects of technology, gained through globalization, on various aspects of culture. The validity of sources used was also assessed. For my reflection, a monologue entitled, “Bring back the old time days,” was created to show the changes of culture from then to now. As a child I grew up in a household with strong beliefs and traditions as well as in a multicultural society where I was taught that culture is our identity. This fueled my interest in the topic along with learning how culture can affect the growth and development of a population in Environmental Science. Culture is important, so, in the future I would like to co-own a chain of local restaurants that promote the mixed cultures within our country through cuisine.

Introduction Culture is defined as the characteristics of a particular group of people defined by their beliefs, customs and traditions (everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts). The theme for my portfolio is Culture: Impact of Globalization on Caribbeanness. The purpose is to examine the negative effects of technological development on our culture. In the exposition I focused on our contribution as a region to the Global Village and highlighted the effects of technology, gained through globalization, on various aspects of culture. The validity of sources used was also assessed. For my reflection, a monologue entitled, Bring back the old time days, was created to show the changes of culture from then to now.
