The Difference Between PL & TAC

1. TAC does not have photosynthetic bacteria, which is one of the keys to the performance of PL. Unfortunately, no one has been successful to this point at preserving photosynthetic cultures in dry form. These photosynthetic bacteria are a valuable source of PL’s ability to clarify water and are capable of tapping into a potent source of energy to do this—the sun. Many of these photosynthetic bacteria are also potent detoxifiers of water.

2. The organisms in TAC are not grown together in the same container, as the PL is. As a result, you don’t get the same “ecosystem in a bottle” that you get with the PL, and not quite the same ability to ecologically balance your pond.

3. The TAC has powdered activated carbon, which is well known for its abilities to clarify water by providing a point surface for bacteria to grow on. It then acts as a weighting agent to help these bacteria settle to the bottom, thus removing turbidity associated with dispersed bacteria. The carbon also acts as a detoxifier by adsorbing micro amounts of toxic materials; i.e. pesticides that can make their way into a pond.

4. TAC also has sodium bicarbonate—a buffer that can help stabilize the pH.

5. TAC has sea salt that helps to induce a protective slime layer on fish.

6. TAC dry formulation has no odor.

Feeding Koi and goldfish that live in a pond is much different than sprinkling flaked food into a fish bowl. Pond owners who invest in the beauty and drama of Koi or goldfish want their pets to live long, healthy lives. That’s where probiotics—direct-fed microbials (DFM)—applies.

The concept of DFM began in the early 1950s when researchers observed a positive growth response in animals fed with antibiotics. Specially formulated for rapid ammonia and nitrite reduction, NITE-OUT II is designed specifically for pond waters that contain marine life. The highly specialized microbial consortium of nitrifying cultures are specially formulated to eliminate ammonia via a natural biological process. Koi will eat practically anything humans will! So it’s important to make sure your Koi and pond fish get fed a daily diet that is well balanced.

The Microbe-Lift®/Legacy 7-Day Nutritional Feeding System is formulated to provide proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water (moisture content), thereby strengthening the fish’s immune system and enabling them to produce needed body heat, energy and growth.

Due to their individual size, sex, environment and genetic make-up, each Koi has its own individual nutritional requirements. Water temperature is the most important factor in determining what kind of food to feed your fish, because the metabolic rate is influenced by pond water temperature.

In general, Koi are ravenous feeders and will consume a lot of food in short periods. It’s wise to feed them at least twice a day—morning and evening—but even better to feed them smaller portions more frequently. Alternate between one of MICROBE-LIFT/Legacy’s primary foods (Growth and Energy, Summer Staple or Cold Weather) three days a week with a supplemental option, such as Fruits and Greens or Krill Treats, four days a week.
