LESSON 1 - CREATION   ELEMENTARY BIBLE LESSON 

  LESSON TITLE:   Creation  LESSON OVERVIEW:   God creates all things in 6 days, including man, and has a plan and purpose for us to know Him and worship Him.   BIBLE STORY:  Creation ‐ Genesis 1 & 2  MEMORY VERSE:  “ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”   Genesis 1:1  TEACHING OBJECTIVE:    To teach children about the days of Creation and that God who created us loves us and wants us to know Him.  SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE LESSON  

● Part 1: The Gathering:   Beach ball or bean bag ● Part 2: Bible Lesson Leader:  Copy of lesson for the Bible lesson leader and 

volunteer. ● Part 3: Memory Verse Activity:   Marker Board, dry erase marker (or you could 

also purchase a dry erase poster board) ● Part 4: Game Leader:  small white file folder labels, sharpie marker ● Part 5: Small Group Time:   Copies of Small Group Time (page 10) for all small 

group leaders (usually 5 ‐ 7)            

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1  PART 1:  THE GATHERING 1 (35 minutes)

 INTRODUCTION: “ We are so excited that each of you is here tonight as we kick off this revive week.  reviveKIDS is a place that you can worship, learn and grow in your relationship with God.  We want to take some time to get to know you and help you get to know others.”   SUPPLIES:  Bean Bag or Beach Ball   PREPARE:    Children (and adults) stand in a circle or are seated in their chairs.  An adult starts off the game by throwing a beanbag or ball at someone in the circle and asking a question at the same time ‐ such as "What's your name?", "Do you have a brother or sister?", "What's your favourite color?" and so on. The person who catches the beanbag/ball must answer the question and then throw it on and ask their own question. The game works best if you keep it moving quite quickly, so you may have to step into help younger children.  “We are here this week to help you learn more about who God is and how you can share Him with others.  Tonight we are going to give each one of you a Gospel wristband and we will walk through what these colors represent.    

● Yellow  is Sin. ● Black  is Death. ● Red  is Love ‐ we will talk a little more about LOVE is just a moment. ● Blue  is Faith. ● Green  is Life. 

 “How many of you have ever seen these colors or verses before? That’s great! This                             week, we will continue to talk more about what they mean and how we can know God.                                 We also want to encourage you to invite your friends to reviveKIDS. Let’s see how many                               kids we can pack in here this week! All of the leaders here in this room are here for you                                       this week. We will answer your questions, pray with you and help you to understand                             what God is saying to you.  We believe that you can do anything that an adult can do                                   when it comes to following Jesus! ”    Close in prayer asking God to help each person to listen with their ears and with their                                 hearts so that we will know what God wants us to learn tonight.  Dismiss kids to their rotations one group at a time.

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1  PART 2:  BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes)  BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Genesis 1 & 2  SUPPLIES:  Copies of the lesson (skit) for the Bible lesson leader and one volunteer.  You can use the actual names of the people who are playing the part of the BIBLE LESSON LEADER and the friend.  PREPARE:   Read over the lesson (skit) so that you are prepared to do it without referring to the paper.  Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Genesis 1. Don’t rush through the script.  Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  INTRODUCTION TO LESSON:  “ Today’s Bible Story is pretty amazing!  We know that God controls everything.  Today we’re going to hear how God did something really, really awesome! God created something from nothing! Unlike our friend, God truly created something out of nothing.”    BIBLE LESSON (skit form):    BIBLE LESSON LEADER:   “The first book of the Bible is called Genesis and it tells us that before God created all things there was nothing here.  No world, no ground, no light, nothing.    “The first thing God did, can you kids make a drum roll for me?  Clap your legs like this (show them how to make a drum roll with their legs).   Perfect, ok, keep that going, the first thing God made was…. light and dark!   “The Bible tells us God said, ‘Let there be light.’  And there was light!  Just like that.  God saw what He created and said it was good.  He literally spoke it into being.  Can you imagine, total darkness (close your eyes).  And when God spoke, instantly there was light.  “On Day 2, drum roll!  God made the sky!  God didn’t stop there, though. The Bible says God wanted to separate all the water. He separated the water by making the sky. The Bible also tells us there was water in the sky.  Do you know where water hides in the sky? It hides in the clouds. There is water in the clouds and when the clouds get full of water, what happens? Yes, it rains.  God saw that it was good.  “On Day 3, drum roll please… God made the land, seas, and plants. First God made all the water come together so there would be dry ground.  God called the dry ground ‘earth’ and the water ‘seas.’ God said this was good.  After God made the land and sea,

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1  “He made the plants and trees. He made all kinds, some with seeds and some with fruit. God said this was good too.   “On the fourth day God created… sun for the day and the moon and stars for the night. God placed the sun, moon and stars in the sky.  God looked at His creation and saw that it was good.”  Friend:  “ Hey BIBLE LESSON LEADER, it seems like God made a lot of things in the first four days but when did He make the animals… or people like you and me?”    BIBLE LESSON LEADER: “ Friend that is a great question!  On day five God made the animals.   “Then on the sixth day God made man and woman.  He made man first.  Then He made woman.  God named the man Adam and named the woman Eve.  God created Adam and Eve to help each other.  Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden where everything was perfect.  They had everything they needed and they had friendship with God right there in the garden with them.”  Friend:   “Wow, that is pretty awesome! And God did it all for us.”    BIBLE LESSON LEADER:   “Yes.  Because God created everything (including us), God is in control of everything.  Nothing is too hard for God.  We’ll talk a little more about the amazing things God did when He created the world, but first, let’s take a moment to pray and thank God for all He has already done.  Friend, would you like to pray?”  Prayer Friend:  “Sure thing!  God did something amazing by making something out of nothing. Let’s pray and thank God for making good things for us. Thank You, God, for making our beautiful world, and for doing such a good job. Thank you, for making the whole world and for making me. Amen.”  Bible Lesson Leader: “ God created everything and the Bible tells us that all things were created by Him and for Him.  God desires for you and me, His created people, to know Him.  He is a perfect and loving God but we mess up and there are decisions that we make that go against what God desires.  That is called sin.  Sin is anything that we think, say or do that displeases God.  What are some of those things that you know is sin? (answers will vary).  That’s right and our sin keeps us from knowing God unless we have placed our trust in Jesus to pay the price for our sin and chosen to follow God.  “There may be some of you here this week that do not know Jesus as your Lord.  We would like to give you an opportunity to do that.  If you need to talk with someone or have questions about that, please feel free to stay after and we will get you connected with a leader who can pray with you and for you.”

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1  PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes)  

“ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”   Genesis 1:1 

  SUPPLIES:  Marker board or dry erase poster board, dry erase markers.   For extra activity:  A stuffed animal or other object of “creation”, a way to play music through a portable speaker or sound system.  PREPARATION:  Write out the verse on a marker board or a dry erase poster board.  READ THE VERSE:   “ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”   Genesis 1:1  EXPLAIN THE VERSE:  “ I know that many of you have probably heard this verse before but maybe there are some of you here that never have.  It is important for us to know that the Bible is true and the Bible says that God created all things.  There are lots of people out there denying that God created the world, but if we believe the Bible we know that God created the heavens and the earth.”  LEARN THE VERSE:   Bible Verse Review Game ‐ Invisible Verse Write the verse on a marker board. Say the verse together as a group several times. Then erase one word. Have the kids say the verse correctly again with the missing word. Then erase another word and say the verse again. Continue erasing words until the kids can say the entire verse without seeing the words.  “Why is it important we know that in the beginning God created?  As Creator of all things, God has control over all things.  He controls the weather, He controls illness, and He controls even the very breath we take.  When we believe God is indeed in control of all, we learn to trust Him.  This week we may be asked to do things that seem kind of hard for us.  Knowing God is in control of all might make it easier for us to trust Him with everything, especially the hard things.”  EXTRA ACTIVITY:  Have kids sit in a circle and pass around the “creation” object while the music plays.  When the music stops the person holding the object will tell something that God created and then say the verse.

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1   PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes)  SUPPLIES:  File folder   labels, sharpie markers, poster board with the days of creation listed.  PREPARATION:   Write the name of different items of Creation on labels (enough for every kid to have one).  INSTRUCTION for 20 Questions Who Am I?  Group the children into manageable sized teams.  Place a sticker on the backs of each of the children.    The goal of the game is for the children to guess what item is on their back by asking yes/no questions.    When the children have correctly guessed the item on their back, they are to group themselves into groups based on the day of creation (they can use the poster board you made as a reference).  For example, the children with sun, moon, and stars on their backs should be grouped together as Day 4.  Children with mountain, island and river on their back should be grouped together as Day 3.    Once the children are grouped together by day, have each group brainstorm what they can learn about God from the items He created on that day.  For example, we learn God is powerful from some of the amazing waterfalls He has created.  Give everyone an opportunity to share what he or she discussed.  EXTRA ACTIVITY:    The Big Squeeze Divide the children into manageable sized groups.  Explain you will call out a shape and the team must squeeze themselves into the shape you call out.  For example, you could call out ‘football’ and the children must position themselves into the shape of a football as would be seen from above.  Keep score and the first team to 10 wins.  You could play music in the background to help set the mood.  The children will be shaping themselves into items created by God.  Feel free to add more as time permits.  Light bulb (God created light) Dog Sun Man Crescent moon Butterfly Fish Tree Flower Starfish

CREATION                                                                                                 ELEMENTARY LESSON 1   PART 5:  SMALL GROUP TIME  “There are probably many reasons why God chose to share the Creation story with us in the Bible.  We are going to look at three of those reasons:  “Reason #1:  The first 5 words in the Bible are ‘In the beginning God created.’   God wants us to know from the very beginning that He is responsible for this amazing world we live in.  He created the mountains, the trees, the sky, the birds, the fish and even you and me (people).  Because He created everything, He is in charge of everything.  This is important for us to know because when we trust that God is in charge of everything, we can trust Him WITH anything.  “Reason #2:  God loves us and He wants us to know Him.  God tells us about Himself in the Bible, but He also tells us something about Himself in His creation.  When you look around, what do you think creation tells us about God? (answers will vary – He is powerful, He is creative, etc.)  “Reason #3:  God wants us to know that Man is special; you and I are special.  We are different than the animals.  Let’s see what the Bible says about man.   (Read Genesis 1:26‐27 and 2:7.)   The Bible teaches us that God created man in the Image of God.  That doesn’t mean God made us to look like Him physically because God does not have a body.  That means God made us like Him in other ways.  The Bible also teaches us that God breathed His breath into Adam.  What does this all mean?  It means because man is different than the rest of God’s creation and because Man is made in the image of God we can have a relationship with God.   (Feel free to explain this further if it looks like the children need further clarification.)  “What does all this mean?  It means we can trust God with anything.  It also means that because we can trust God with anything, we should obey Him.  And, this means we should seek to know Him.  One way we know God is by talking to Him.  This is called prayer.  Let’s take a few moments to pray and ask God to help us trust, obey and seek a relationship with Him.”  Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as kids may have questions about what it means to have a relationship with God.  Encourage those who have trusted Jesus to spend a moment praying for their family or friends who do not know Jesus.

 LESSON 2 - JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY BIBLE LESSON 

  LESSON TITLE:   Jesus’ Birth 

LESSON OVERVIEW:  To teach the children about the birth of Jesus and God’s plan in it all. 

BIBLE STORY:  Jesus’ Birth Matthew 1; Luke 1‐2 

MEMORY VERSE:  “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46‐47 

TEACHING OBJECTIVE:  To teach the children why and how Jesus was born 

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE LESSON

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2   “What makes you feel loved? What are some ways that you can demonstrate or show                             love to others? (ex: Pray for them, give them a gift, spend time with them, tell them                                 about Jesus, etc.) Those are all great ideas! And this week, I hope that you actually do                                 some of those things to show God’s love. So what is one of our four words that we need                                     to learn? LOVE, that’s right!  “Pray with me now and let’s ask God to help us love others and help us to learn what                                     God has to say to us tonight as we go to our different rotations.”

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2   PART 2:  BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes)  BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Matthew 1, Luke 1‐2  SUPPLIES:  Bible  PREPARE:    Read the text from the scripture and then from the lesson and be very familiar with the order of the lesson.  INTRODUCTION TO LESSON:  “ Today we are going to learn about the birth of Jesus. Because of Christmas movies and hearing different stories every year at Christmas, we may think that we know all about the birth of Jesus, but it is important that we look and see exactly what the Bible tells us, and don’t rely just on Christmas stories. The birth of Jesus is so much more important than the story of a little baby being born in a stable. You may have seen nativity scenes, but things may have looked very different than some of the manger scenes you have seen.  We must always read something for ourselves in the Bible to make sure that we are getting the truth, even if it is a very well‐known story like the birth of Jesus. This is the story of Jesus’ birth found in the Bible in Matthew and Luke.” 

Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Luke 1‐2. Don’t rush through the story.  Although this story is typically told around Christmas, it is important for kids to understand the significance of our need for His birth.  Without Christmas presents and parties on their minds, may they treasure His birth for what it really is.  BIBLE LESSON:    “Jesus was a descendant of Father Abraham and King David. (you might remember David and Goliath). After David had been King of Israel there were fourteen generations (that means when someone has a child and then that child has a child ‐ 14 times)  and Israel was captured by Babylon. The people of Israel were in captivity for approximately 400 years.  63 years before Jesus was born, Rome became the ruler of Israel. The people hated to be ruled by Rome and wondered where the promised Messiah (deliverer) was. They prayed for the Messiah, thinking he would be a king that would rescue them from Rome. They did not see that it was their sins and death that they needed to be rescued from. 

“From the very beginning of the world, God knew the day that Jesus would be born and come into the world. From the time Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, man would need a Savior. Before Jesus came, the people did not have a Savior.  They had to try and be good on their own. They didn’t have what we have today, they didn’t have Jesus or the Holy Spirit!

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2  “A priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth (who was Mary’s cousin) were godly people.  While in the temple, the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and told him that his wife would have a child. His name will be John and he will go before the Lord to make the people prepared for the Lord. Zechariah didn’t believe the angel so he was not able to speak until the child was born.  Do you know who this child was?  John the Baptist. 

“After Elizabeth had been pregnant for six months God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth to Mary. The angel said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored, the Lord is with you. Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son and you will give him the name Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord will give him the throne of his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, so the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.’ 

“Wow! Can you imagine an angel telling you this? 

“Mary went to visit Elizabeth and when she spoke, the baby inside of Elizabeth leapt. Mary was a young woman pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together as husband and wife, she became pregnant.  Joseph was not the father, God was the father. An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him that the baby inside of Mary was from the Holy Spirit.  He was to wed Mary and they would have a son and he should be called Jesus because He would save his people from their sins. 

“Some of this may be the familiar part of the story for you but I want you to listen very carefully so you do not miss one thing!  Caesar Augustus the Roman ruler said all the people of Israel and the entire Roman world had to go to the town where they were born so that they could be counted.  So Joseph and Mary had to leave Nazareth and travel to Bethlehem.  When they got to Bethlehem there was no room for them at the inn, so Jesus was born in a stable. Mary wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, an animal’s feeding trough. 

“There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2  “Suddenly a great group of the heavenly host appeared with the angel and praised God saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’ 

“The shepherds hurried off and found Mary, Joseph and the baby who was lying in the manger. After seeing him they spread the word about what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed.  Notice what the shepherds did.  They went to tell others, they went to spread the good news about Jesus.  Isn’t that what we are here for? 

“When he was eight days old the baby was circumcised and named Jesus. Then after 40 days Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Jerusalem to the temple to offer a sacrifice of a pair of doves or two young pigeons. When they went to the temple they met Simeon an old man waiting for the birth of the Messiah. The Holy Spirit showed him that it was Jesus. He said, ‘My eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.’  Then Anna, an 84 year old woman who always stayed in the temple, spoke to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. 

“The birth of Jesus was foretold by the prophets. He came to the world when some were waiting for him, while others had forgotten that he was coming, or didn’t know about him at all. The Son of God was not born in a palace, but was born and placed in a manger, something used to hold food for animals.  The birth of Jesus was the beginning of God’s answer to our sin.  The completion of our salvation was when he died and rose again.  

“Jesus’ birth was God being born as a human. It was God loving us so much that he was willing to become like us and live in a human body, be tempted by sin just as we are tempted, and then die for us to restore a right relationship between us and God. He made a way for us to enter heaven and to live forever with God.“

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2   PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes)   MEMORY VERSE:  “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46‐47 

SUPPLIES:  Paper or index cards, yarn, ball or bean bag (you could also use a non‐breakable Christmas ornament if you have one accessible). 

PREPARATION:  Write each word of the verse on a piece of paper. Cut a piece of yarn large enough to wrap around the room. Punch a hole or two at the top of the words and string them in order on the yarn. Wind the yarn around the room to create a maze. Children are to find the pieces of the verse by following the string.  

READ THE VERSE:  Luke 1:46‐47 

EXPLAIN THE VERSE:  “ When Mary knew she was going to give birth to Jesus, she couldn’t help but to rejoice.  God wants us, too, to rejoice at the birth of OUR Savior, Jesus and to glorify (give Him the praise and credit) Him in all that we do.” 

LEARN THE VERSE:  Amazing Verse If there is room, have all the kids stand up and begin making their way around the room and saying the words of the verse out loud.  If you need to, have just a few children at a time come up and go through the yarn maze saying the verse out loud.  Have all the children repeat the verse several times.   Begin removing words of the verse from the maze and have the kids recite the verse until all the words have been removed from the maze.  OPTION 2 OR EXTRA ACTIVITY:  Bible Bounce Secure a playground ball. Before playing, review the Bible verse with the children. After you have said the verse several times as a group, begin the game. Have the children stand in a circle. Bounce the ball to the first child, who must say the verse. If he is unable to say the verse, he bounces the ball back to you. When he says the verse correctly, he bounces the ball to another child. The game continues until all the children have had a chance to say the verse.

JESUS’ BIRTH ELEMENTARY LESSON 2   PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes) ‐ Straw Race   SUPPLIES:  Blue painter’s tape, pom pom balls and straws (1 for each kid)  PREPARATION:   make 2 “tracks” (see picture below) on the floor using the blue painter’s tape (ask for permission from host church). 

 INSTRUCTION for Straw Race:   Divide kids into two teams.    Give each child a straw and a pom pom ball.  Instruct the kids to get in line and take turns doing the straw race.  As children are playing the game, explain that for Joseph and Mary, it was a journey to get to the place where Jesus would be born.  We too, are on a journey with Jesus.  There are times that it might be more difficult to follow Jesus.  There are challenges and changes that come up but if we stay the course and trust Jesus to be our Savior and help us, we will be able to rejoice in Him!  EXTRA ACTIVITY:    Let kids randomly blow their pom pom ball around the room but make sure everyone is playing safely.

  LESSON 3 - THE FALL ELEMENTARY BIBLE LESSON 

  LESSON TITLE:  The Fall   LESSON OVERVIEW:  God provided Adam and Eve with all that they needed.  He set the boundaries not to eat of the fruit of the tree of Knowledge of good and evil.  They chose to disobey God and there were consequences for their sin.   BIBLE STORY: The Fall ‐  Genesis 3  MEMORY VERSE:    “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23  TEACHING OBJECTIVE:    To help kids understand that God gives us direction in His word for how we should live in a way that will best honor and glorify Him.  If we choose to disobey His word, we are sinning.  SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE LESSON

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  PART 1:  THE GATHERING 3 (35 minutes)

 SUPPLIES:  Wristbands for all NEW kids  PREPARE:    Walk through the wristband colors and what each color means and be ready to lead the kids through it, read through the text on what it means to LISTEN and be ready to teach it to the kids.   INTRODUCTION:  We are so excited that each of you is here tonight for reviveKIDS.  This is a place that you can worship, learn and grow in your relationship with God.  We want to take some time to get to know you and help you get to know others. We are here this week to help you learn more about who God is and how you can share Him with others.  Tonight we are going to give each one of you a Gospel wristband if you have not received one, and we will walk through what these colors represent.  

● Yellow  is Sin. ● Black  is Death. ● Red  is Love. ● Blue  is Faith. ● Green  is Life. 

 How many of you have ever seen these colors or verses before?  That’s great!  This week, we are learning what they mean and how we can share these truths with others.  Here at reviveKIDS, we will answer your questions, pray with you and help you to understand what God is saying to you.   We believe that you can do anything that an adult can do when it comes to following Jesus.    Last night we talked about 1 of the 4 words we are learning this week.  Does anyone remember what it is?  LOVE, that’s right.  The other words are listen, discern and respond.  Tonight we are going to talk about what it means to LISTEN.   Jesus often invited others to talk. He heard their stories, their hurts, and even their complaints.  We can encourage and help others when we take time to listen with the purpose to understand a person and their heart.   Are you more of a “listener” or a “talker?” Do you think Jesus ever tired of  hearing people’s questions, stories, or grumblings? Read Proverbs 18:13 “He who gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.”

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  Have you ever been interrupted when you were talking?  This is what this verse is talking about.  People sometimes don’t even wait for a person to finish talking before they spit out what they want to say rather than waiting by fully listening.  Jesus took time to listen to people and hear what they had to say, He listened for what was on their heart and He wants us to do that same.  Let’s practice listening to our friends.  Turn to the person next to you and ask, “how can I pray for you?”  Listen to what they say and then take time to pray.  Take turns.  O.K., before we close, what are the two main words that we have talked about so far? LOVE and LISTEN!  Close in prayer before sending kids to their rotations: Lord, help us to take time to listen to the people around us and what is going on with                                     them. One way that we show Your love to others is by listening to them. And Father,                                 help us listen to our leaders tonight as they teach us from Your word.  Amen.

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3   PART 2:  BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes)  BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:9, 16 and Genesis 3  SUPPLIES:  Copies of script for the Bible lesson leader and volunteer.  PREPARE:   Read through the script and have it somewhat memorized for teaching.  INTRODUCTION TO LESSON:    Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Genesis. Don’t rush through the lesson.  Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  BIBLE LESSON:   “God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and gave them some jobs to do.  Let’s read what God asked Adam and Eve to do.”  Read Genesis 1:28.  “God wanted Adam and Eve to fill the earth (have babies) and subdue it (rule over it). God placed Adam and Eve in charge of the Garden.  He also gave them one rule.  Let’s see what that rule was.”  Read Genesis 2:9 and 2:16.  HOST:   “What was the one rule God gave Adam and Eve?”  FRIEND:   “Well, they were free to eat from any tree in the garden but, God told them they were not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”  HOST:   “That’s right.  You see, God placed two trees in this beautiful garden He created. One was the Tree of Life.  As long as Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Life, they would live.  God wanted them to eat from that tree.  He wanted them to eat from any tree in the garden except one.  “God also put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the middle of the garden.  God told Adam and Eve they were NOT to eat from that tree.  “Adam and Eve lived happily together in the Garden of Eden.  One day, however, they were visited by a crafty serpent.

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  “The serpent came to Eve and asked her:  ‘Did God really say you must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”  “Eve answered the serpent and said ‘God said we could eat from any tree except this one and we must not touch it or we will die.’  “The serpent told Eve she wouldn’t die.  The serpent told Eve that God knew if she ate from the tree she would be like God, knowing good and evil.  “Eve saw that the fruit of the tree was beautiful and looked tasty.  She also liked the idea that she could be like God.  Eve disobeyed God’s one rule, took the fruit and ate it. She gave some to Adam and he ate as well.  The moment they ate, they realized what they had done.  When they heard God coming they hid from Him.”    FRIEND:   “We can’t hide from God, God knows everything.”  HOST:   “Yes, and Adam and Eve knew God knew they had done wrong.  Adam and Eve made the choice to disobey God and choices always have consequences.  Remember we talked about sin.  Sin is something we say, think, do or don’t do that displeases God. Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and ate from the tree He asked them NOT to eat from.  This is sin.  Because they sinned God sent them out of the Garden.  That is the consequence of sin – sin separates us from God.”    FRIEND:   “That’s awful.”    HOST:   “The story doesn’t end here though.  Yes, Adam and Eve would be separated from God but God already had a plan in place to bring Adam and Eve (and us because we all sin too) back to God.  That plan is Jesus!   We’ll talk a little more about God’s plan to bring us back to Him in our small groups.   Just know that God loves us very much.  He wants us to be with Him forever, but we have a problem and that problem is called sin. Sin separates us from God, but thankfully God has provided a way that we can be with Him forever.  Adam and Eve sinned.  Moses sinned.  David sinned.  I sin.  You sin.  We all sin.  That’s what our memory verse teaches us – for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  That’s why God’s plan, Jesus, is such Great News!  Let’s pray and thank God for His wonderful plan for salvation.”

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes)   

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23  SUPPLIES:  Marker Board, dry erase markers  PREPARATION:  Write the verse on a marker board or a poster board.  READ THE VERSE:  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23  EXPLAIN THE VERSE:  “ This verse tells us that all of us have sinned.  What is sin?  Sin is anything we say, do, think or don’t do that displeases God.  When we try to be happy without God and do things on our own we sometimes do or say things that displease God.  Sin is when we do things our way instead of God’s way.  We will talk more about sin in today’s lesson.”  LEARN THE VERSE:   Bible Verse Review Game  ‐  Circle Up Write the verse on a marker board. Practice the verse together as a group several times. Erase the verse.  Line the children up in a circle facing each other (large groups should create several smaller circles).  Select one child to begin.  Each child should say one word from the verse (in correct order) from beginning to end.  If one child does not know the next word, he/she should begin again with the first word.  The goal is to get through the verse (several times) without error.  “Who has sinned?  All.  What is sin?  Sin is anything we say, do, think or don’t do that displeases God.  When we try to be happy without God and do things on our own we sometimes do or say things that displease God.  We will talk more about sin in today’s lesson.”  EXTRA ACTIVITY:   Rules?  Who Needs Them? Explain to the children you will begin with a game.  On your mark, they are to divide themselves into groups of 10 (or no less than 8, no more than 14) and line themselves up in correct order.  Do not offer any more instructions – that’s part of the point of the game.  Countdown from 3 and say ‘Go!’  You may notice the children look at you somewhat confused.  Allow them a couple of minutes to work out how they will line themselves up.  After 2 minutes ask the children to freeze in their lines so you can determine whether or not they lined up correctly.  Instruct small group leaders to check each of the lines.  The children should be lined up from smallest to tallest.  Do not tell the children how you are determining whether or not they did the exercise correctly but do celebrate those groups that lined up correctly. (Some groups may be upset that they did not get credit because they didn’t know the rules.)

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3   Repeat the exercise again, asking the children to line up.  Some savvy children may have noticed the pattern and will line their group up shortest to tallest.  This time, the children should be lined up according to the color of their shirts/blouses in rainbow order – black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and white.  Celebrate those groups that lined up correctly (probably none).  Repeat the exercise a final time.  This time, ask the children to line up according to the months of their birthdays (January birthdays at the front of the line, December birthdays at the end).  After 2 minutes, small group leaders should check the lines making sure the children lined up in the correct order.  Celebrate those lines that accomplished the task correctly (probably most if not all).    Explain to the kids that rules or guidelines are important in order for us to know what we are supposed to do.  God has given us guidelines and boundaries in His word for how He desires us to live out our lives.  When we choose to not follow those guidelines, that is sin.

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes)  SUPPLIES:  None  PREPARATION:   None  INSTRUCTION for Red Light Green Light?   Divide the children into manageable sized teams.  Teams are to line up shoulder to shoulder on one side of the play area.  A child (or small group leader) is to stand on the other side leaving an open play space.   When the leader calls out ‘Green light’ the children should move towards him/her.  When the leader calls ‘red light’, the children are to stop.  If a child keeps moving, he/she must return to the starting line.  The first child to reach the leader wins.  If time permits, allow the children to take turns being the leader and calling out red light/green light.  Explain to kids: “God loves us and He wants us to know Him.  He wants us to trust Him. He wants us to bring anything and everything to Him.  There will be times in our lives when we are tempted to trust in our own abilities rather than in God.  Trusting ourselves instead of God is sin and we learned today that sin separates us from God. God loves us too much to leave us in our sin.  He provided a way of salvation.  Jesus is that way.  Trust in God, obey Him and accept His gift of salvation.  Remember to talk to Him in prayer.”   (Offer to discuss salvation with any of the children that may still have questions.)  EXTRA: If parents delay in picking children up, repeat the Red Light/Green Light game or repeat the memory verse activity.

THE FALL ELEMENTARY LESSON 3  PART 5:  SMALL GROUP TIME   Introduce the discussion:  “ We read in the Bible there were 2 trees in the center of the Garden of Eden  (Genesis 2:9).   One was the Tree of Life.  The other was the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.”   1.   What do we know about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?   (Adam & Eve were told not to eat from it; the serpent tempted Eve with it; Eve ate from it, etc.)   God was very clear with His instructions to Adam and Eve.  They were allowed to eat from ANY tree in the garden except for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.    2.  Does this mean Adam and Eve could eat from the Tree of Life?   (yes)   Adam and Eve had all they needed in the Garden yet they choose to disobey God’s instructions.    3. If God did not want Adam & Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, why did He put it in the garden in the first place?   (allow for brief discussion)   By placing that tree in the Garden and by giving us a choice to obey Him, He gave us the choice to trust, obey and love Him because we want to trust, obey and love Him.    4. If Adam & Eve had everything they needed, why do you think they choose to disobey God?   (They gave into temptation.)   Satan can be very tricky when he tempts.   5.    What did Satan (in the form of the serpent) do/say/ask Eve?   (‘Did God really say…’) The first thing Satan does when he tempts people is he plants a seed of doubt.  He tries to get you to doubt what God has said.  He wanted to make Eve wonder if she understood God correctly.  Eve knew God’s instructions (or at least she thought she did).  6.    Did Eve have her facts correct?  (Eve added the ‘do not touch it’ part.)   Often, when we do not know God’s word well enough, we tend to add things or ignore things He has said.  This is why it is very important we understand the Bible.  This is why we remind you often you should spend time in God’s word every day because every day you will be faced with choices you need to make.  7.    Does God punish sin?   (Yes, there is a punishment for sin and that is to be forever separated from God.)   But, God sent Jesus to die for our sin and fix our sin problem.  We need to trust that Jesus alone can fix our sin problem.    8.   Why doesn’t God just let us do what we want?   (God knows best and He wants what is best for each of us.)   He is God.  Satan may try to trick us into not believing God.  Don’t let him trick you.  Will you trust Him?  Will you obey Him? You will show God how much you love Him by trusting and obeying Him.  Spend time allowing the kids to pray for one another as they have need.

● Yellow is Sin, remember that sin is anything that we say, think or do that breaks                               God’s heart. 

● Black is Death, what we deserve for our sin is death (to be forever separated                             from God). 

● Red is Love, God showed you and I His love by sending Jesus to pay the price for                                   our sin and death. 

● Blue  is Faith, when we believe and trust in something or someone we can’t see. ● Green  is Life , we have life forever with God when we believe and trust in Jesus. 

 “I am sure that most of you have seen and heard about these verses especially if you have been here all week.  But there may be some who have not ever heard these verses. We want you to know that all of the leaders here in this room are here for you this week.  We want you to know that God loves you and He wants you to know Him.  If you have any questions, at any time, please feel free to ask.   Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and giving kids an opportunity to trust Jesus as Lord.  “We are here to answer your questions, pray with you and help you to understand what God is saying to you.   We believe that you can do anything that an adult can do when it comes to following Jesus.    “Last night we talked about 1 of the 4 words we are learning this week.  Does anyone remember what it is?  LISTEN, that’s right.  So we have talked about LOVE and LISTEN. Tonight we are going to talk about DISCERN.

JESUS’ BAPTISM ELEMENTARY LESSON 4  “Discern means to really see and understand what is going on.  Sometimes things are hard for us to understand but the Bible tells us that God can help us.  Pray right now and ask God to help you understand all that you are learning tonight.  “The Bible says in Psalm 119:34,  ‘Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with all my heart.’  “We want to be able to understand what people need once we have taken the time to LOVE and LISTEN to them.  It may be that we discern (or see and understand) that a person needs prayer, we may see that a person has a physical need, we may see that a person needs to be alone or that we need to share the good news of Jesus with them.  “We need to remember to always be praying when we are talking with someone and silently asking God to help us understand what that person needs.  So we have learned 3 words this week so far and they are……(let kids finish) LOVE, LISTEN, and DISCERN. Tomorrow night we will look at how we should RESPOND.  “Let’s pray and ask God to help us really listen to and understand what we will learn tonight.”

JESUS’ BAPTISM ELEMENTARY LESSON 4   PART 2:  BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes)   BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Matthew 3 and John 1  SUPPLIES:  Biblical costume (John)  PREPARE:   Dress in biblical costume or ask someone to come in dressed up as John the Baptist ready to tell the story of Jesus’ baptism.  INTRODUCTION TO LESSON:  “ Hello kids. Tonight’s lesson is about Jesus’ baptism. When Jesus was baptized, it pleased God very much. It pleases God when we obey Him.  Our goal in life should be to please God and do what He tells us to do! Pleasing God may look like obeying your parents, doing your chores, or even getting baptized. God loves us whether we do these things or not, but it’s important for us to do what He tells us.”   Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand open. Don’t rush through the script. Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  BIBLE LESSON: “ Good evening boys and girls!  My name is John the Baptist.  My mother Elizabeth and Jesus’ mother Mary are cousins.  As I grew up, I knew that I had an important job that I needed to do, and that was to help people prepare for Jesus’ coming.  I would walk around saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!’ To repent simply means to turn from your sin.   “My clothes were made of camel’s hair and I ate locusts and wild honey for food. Doesn’t sound so good, does it?  God provided for my needs and I wanted to make sure that everyone was ready for Jesus’ coming so I did what I needed to do to make that happen.  I really wanted to obey God in what He wanted.  “People began to hear and understand the message, and they would come repenting of their sins to the Jordan River to be baptized in the water.  To be baptized means to be dipped in water.  People heard of what I was doing and so I was sent before the Priests and Levites (religious leaders of the day) and they ask me who I was.  I told them that I am not the Christ.  They pushed further and said, then who do you say that you are?  I responded and told them that I was the one crying in the wilderness, ‘prepare the way of the Lord’ and I baptize with water but One greater is coming.  “And then one day, it happened.  The very One that I had been speaking about...Jesus… was here!!  And not just here on earth, but standing right in front of me.  Can you imagine how I felt?  What do you think I was thinking?  (allow children time to process and answer).  The words came right out of my mouth, ‘Behold, the lamb of God who

JESUS’ BAPTISM ELEMENTARY LESSON 4  takes away the sin of the world.’ Jesus came to me and asked me to baptize Him.  What? I did not feel that I was worthy to do that.  I did not even feel worthy to untie his shoe. But He insisted because it was necessary to fulfill all that God had planned.    “As Jesus was coming out of the water, the Spirit of God descended on Jesus as a dove and I heard the voice of God say, ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ Wow!  I was so honored to be a small part of preparing the way for Jesus and then to have the privilege of baptizing Jesus myself is just beyond words.  “If there is one thing that I learned in all of this, it is that God wants me to be obedient to what He is telling me to do.  I learned by Jesus’ example of being baptized that everyone must follow God’s desire, even Jesus Himself.  I believe boys and girls that if it is important for Jesus to obey God, it is even much more important for us to obey Him.  “When God spoke those words that He was well pleased, it made me question, do my actions please God?  I think that is something for all of us to think and pray about.  We need to make sure that we first, know what God’s word says to us, and then that we are obeying that Word.  “Jesus began His ministry after His baptism and it was from there that He went to the cross so that you and I could be forever forgiven of our sins.  And the same Spirit that descended upon Jesus is given to us when we trust Jesus as Lord of our lives.  We are given a permanent stamp of His unchanging love, simply by believing in Jesus’ death, His burial and His resurrection and repenting of (or turning from) our sins.   Jesus is coming again one day, will you be a voice crying in the wilderness to prepare the way?  “Please bow your head.”   Ask the kids to enter into a time of prayer with God, asking God to show them any area of their life in which there is sin that they need to repent of (turn from).  Once kids have had a few moments, ask if there is anyone who might want to share.  Next, ask kids to bow their head again, “ this time, I want you to ask God to forgive you of that sin and ask Him to help you be bold and prepare the way for Jesus!”    Close the class in prayer or ask a kid to close in prayer.

JESUS’ BAPTISM ELEMENTARY LESSON 4  PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes)  

“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 3:2  SUPPLIES:  Index cards.   PREPARATION:   Write each word of the verse and the reference on a separate index card, and hide the pieces around the room.   READ THE VERSE: “ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 3:2  EXPLAIN THE VERSE:   Repent means to confess and turn away from your sin. John the Baptist wanted people to repent of their sin so that they could be ready for the coming Messiah, Jesus.  LEARN THE VERSE:   Hide the cards around the room, but make sure the kids can find them easily.  Show the children a blank card so they will know what to look for, and tell them how many cards in all they need to find. (In this case, there will be 9 cards.)  Once they find all of the cards, have them put the cards in order and read the verse again slowly.   When finished, have the children read the memory verse again using the cards.  EXTRA ACTIVITY:   Sparkle Have all the kids get into a straight line.  The first child will say the first word of the verse then going down the line each child will say the next word of the verse and the reference.   Once the whole verse is quoted, the next person says “sparkle” and then the person after them in line sits down.  Continue playing until there is only one student left standing.

JESUS’ BAPTISM ELEMENTARY LESSON 4   PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes)  SUPPLIES:  9 chairs set in 3 rows of 3 (chairs make playing the game easier but are not absolutely necessary)  PREPARATION:   Place chairs in a tic tac toe board formation.  INSTRUCTION for Human Tic Tac Toe Group the children into groups of 8.  With the chairs in a tic‐tac‐toe pattern, have four boys and four girls (or 2 teams of 4) stand 5 feet away from the chairs.  Boys (or 1 team) are the X’s; girls (or the other team) are the O’s.  Explain that when you say, “Go!” they should race to sit in a chair (one chair should be left empty every time).  The team with three seats in a row wins.  Play best four out of five games.  Notice as you begin, children almost always race to their seats.  But as they play more, they should begin to realize strategy, not racing, guarantees the win.  (If the teams continue to tie, have a leader suggest they strategize before rushing to their seats.)  Mix your teams up and play again as time permits allowing the teams a few moments between matches to strategize.  Explain: “Many times we try to do things our own way – just like when we first started playing Human Tic‐Tac‐Toe.  We soon discovered it took stopping, thinking and asking for help to win – not just racing.  God wants us to ask Him to help us to be obedient and live the way that He desires.  Just as I prepared the room for our game today, you have learned (or will learn) in our lesson today that John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus and God wants us to do that same.”  EXTRA ACTIVITY:    Continue playing more games of tic tac toe so that all children have had an opportunity to play.

 LESSON 5 - THE FLOOD  ELEMENTARY BIBLE LESSON 

  LESSON TITLE:   The Flood (Genesis 6‐9)  LESSON OVERVIEW:  Tonight's lesson talks about a man named Noah and how he built an ark for the coming flood that God promised.  This lesson will encourage the kids to be obedient to God and this lesson will teach the kids that God always keeps His promises.    BIBLE STORY:  The Flood (Genesis 6‐9)  MEMORY VERSE:  “So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.” Genesis 6:22   TEACHING OBJECTIVE:    This lesson talks about obeying God and listening to all that He asks us to do. Also, this lesson will instill in the children that we serve a God who keeps His promises.  SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE LESSON

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5  PART 1:  THE GATHERING 5 (35 minutes)

 SUPPLIES:  Wristbands for all NEW kids.  PREPARE:    Walk through the wristband colors and what each color means and be ready to lead the kids through it, read through the text on what it means to RESPOND and be ready to teach it to the kids.   INTRODUCTION: “ Hey there kids!  I am so glad that each one of you is here.  It has been such a great week.  I have loved seeing you worship the Lord with all your heart and how you have been attentive as you have learned to LOVE, LISTEN, DISCERN and tonight we are going to talk about our 4th word ‐ RESPOND.  “Before we do that, we want to make sure that each kid has received a wristband and Bible this week.  If this is your very first time to reviveKIDS, please raise your hand.  We want to walk through the colors and what they mean.  Take your wristband and Bible and look at them.    

● Yellow is Sin, remember that sin is anything that we say, think or do that breaks                               God’s heart. 

● Black is Death, what we deserve for our sin is death (to be forever separated                             from God). 

● Red is Love, God showed you and me His love by sending Jesus to pay the price                                 for our sin and death. 

● Blue  is Faith, when we believe and trust in something or someone we can’t see. ● Green  is Life, we have life forever with God when we believe and trust in Jesus. 

 “Some of you may be here for the first time and you have never heard these verses before.  You may not even realize that God loves you!  He does!! He loves you and He wants you to know Him.  Many of you have been here all week and you know what the colors represent and what they mean.  I want to challenge you to not just learn what they are but to actually share it with a friend or family member.   We believe that you can do anything that an adult can do when it comes to following Jesus.    “O.K., let’s review a little bit about what we have talked about with our four words ‐ Love, Listen, Discern and Respond:  

1. What does it mean to love others? (to really care about them)  What are some ways that we can do that? (pray for them, etc.)

Please help us to learn to listen to                                     Your Holy Spirit and in confidence do what you are asking us to do. And Father, help us                                   listen to our leaders tonight and respond to the truth of Your word.  Amen.”

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5  PART 2:  BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes)  BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Genesis 6‐9  SUPPLIES:  Bible, signs for each character in the story should you choose to let the kids act it out.  PREPARE:   Read over the Bible lesson so that you will be prepared for the evening!   INTRODUCTION TO LESSON:  “ Tonight we are going to talk about a man named Noah. God told him to build an ark (which is a large boat) for his family to live on!  Noah had a very close relationship with God. They were best friends.  Noah loved the Lord very much and wanted nothing more than to obey Him.  Noah had a wife and 3 sons.  His sons’ names were Shem, Ham, and Japheth and they were all married.  Our story today is found in the book of Genesis.  Let’s see how God used these 8 people to show us how we can obey God.    “We are going to be learning about the importance of obeying God, like Noah did when he built a big boat for the future flood. We are also going to be learning about how God ALWAYS keeps His promises.”   Option :  Choose kids to help act out the story using signs to designate Noah, Noah’s wife, Shem, Shem’s wife, Ham, Ham’s wife, Japheth, Japheth’s wife.  Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Genesis 6. Don’t rush through the script.  Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  BIBLE LESSON:  “ We can find Noah in the book of Genesis, which is in the Old Testament or New Testament? (Old Testament, that’s right).   Noah was a man who loved the Lord with all of his heart.  Noah wanted to please God in all that he did! Noah valued his relationship with God above all else, which made him a righteous man.  When God looked at Noah, He was very pleased.  Sadly, when God looked at the rest of the earth, He saw evil deeds and sin in the hearts of the people.  God knew that the only way to make hearts turn to Him would be to send a flood to get rid of it all and start over.  This flood would wipe out all of the people who were living their own way and would leave only those who trusted and walked with the Lord.   “God said to Noah, ‘I have decided to destroy all living things on the earth, for they have brought evil into the world.  I am going to bring a great flood to cover the earth.  I am going to save your family, so I want you to build an ark.’  God went on to tell Noah of the dimensions of the boat he was going to build.

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5  “The boat would need to be built 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.  God told Noah to leave an opening at the top of the boat 18 inches wide. Noah was to make a lower, middle, and upper deck which means it was 3 stories high.  It took Noah and his family 120 years to build!  “God said, ‘Look! I am about to send a flood that will cover the whole earth in water, everything on earth will pass away.  But I will keep the promise I have made with you.  I will keep your family safe on the boat. Bring your wife, and tell your sons to bring their  wives along, too! On this boat you will bring a pair of every kind of animal, male and female. make sure to bring enough food for your family and the animals.’   “Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded Him. Noah was 600 years old when God sent the flood. Noah took His whole family aboard, including all of the animals. Two by two, the animals came in pairs of male and female. And 7 animals of every kind of animal that could be used for food.    “For 40 days and nights it rained and poured all around the world, flooding the whole earth!  As the water began to rise, the boat stayed safe upon the waves.  Isn’t it cool how God kept Noah and his family safe?  This is because of Noah's amazing obedience to do what God told him to do. When we are obedient it means we are listening to what God is telling us to do. Kids, it is so important for us to be obedient to God's plans for us.   “God wants to protect you from the storms of life, much like he protected Noah! Sometimes storms look a little different to us. Sometimes a storm is fighting with your siblings, or seeing someone cheat.  Sometimes a storm in your life could be loving someone who isn’t very nice to you.  But, out of obedience to God, we are called to ‘build the boat’ by reading our Bible and seeking Him in all that we do.  God keeps all of His promises.  Let’s talk about how Noah got to see God’s promises come to pass.   “The flood covered the earth for 150 days! That's a pretty long time to be stuck in a boat with a bunch of smelly animals, don't you think? After 5 months, the flood waters began to go down. Noah’s boat landed on a mountain top, called Ararat.  “Noah sent a raven out the window. This raven flew from east to west, north to south, to see if the flood waters had gone down in other areas of the earth. He also sent a dove. This dove flew out and away, searching the earth for dry land. The dove landed back in Noah's boat and had nothing stored in his mouth to show for dry land.  Noah waited a while, and sent the dove out again.  This time, when the dove came back he had a fresh olive leaf in his mouth! Meaning that there was finally a dry patch of land on the earth!   “God said to Noah, ‘The earth is now dry. Take your wife, your sons and their wives, and make a place for yourself among the dry land. Release every animal into the wild, so that they can go forth and populate the earth.’

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5   “Noah built an altar to the Lord, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that.  And God was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself, ‘I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things. As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.’  “God blessed Noah and His family. God told them to multiply the earth, to have many children to populate the earth. This is where the promise comes in, Kids! God promised Noah that he would NEVER flood the whole earth again. This is what God said, ‘I am giving you a sign of my promise with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come. I have placed my rainbow in the clouds.  It is the sign of my promise with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds and rain over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will a flood destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal promise between God and every living creature on earth.’   “Have any of you ever seen a rainbow?  Now when you see a rainbow, remember the promises that God makes. What are some of God’s promises to us?  He promises to always be near you, to keep you safe, and to never leave you!   “Noah was found to be right with God.  How can we be right with God?  The Bible tells us that our sin separates us from God but Jesus loved us so He paid the price for our sin so that we could know God and be right with Him.  Some of you may have questions about asking Jesus to be your Lord and if you do, please let one of the leaders know.    “Let’s take a moment to pray and ask God how we can be obedient to Him this week.”

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5   PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes)    SUPPLIES:  Masking tape, index cards, marker, and two different colors of bean bags.   PREPARATION:  Mark 6 index cards with the letter X, and 6 with the letter O. Tape a tic‐tac‐toe square on the floor. Also, use the masking tape to place a line where the children can stand in order to toss the bean bags.   READ THE VERSE:   “So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.” Genesis 6:22  EXPLAIN THE VERSE:   After Noah built the ark, God was very pleased with Him! This verse tells us that Noah obeyed God, by doing ALL that God had commanded him to do.   LEARN THE VERSE:   Divide your class up into two teams ‐ X's and O's. Recite the verse with the class a few times until you think they get it.  Take turns asking each kid on the team to repeat the verse. If a team gets the verse correct, a team member gets to throw the bean bag at the tic‐tac‐toe. Place an X or O index card on the space that the bean bag landed. If there is already an index card on that space, remove the card and place a new card indicating which team threw the bean bag. The team that gets three in a row first wins.  EXTRA ACTIVITY:  Continue playing Tic‐Tac‐Toe until it is time for the next rotation.  You may also review parts of the story if kids have been to the Bible lesson rotation.

THE FLOOD ELEMENTARY LESSON 5   PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes)  

SUPPLIES:  Blue painter’s tape and 6 to 8 Nerf balls 

PREPARE:  This game is similar to dodgeball. With masking tape, create 3 boats on the floor in the room.   

ACTIVITY: On the Boat All the children should stand on one side of the room.   The teacher and a helper are “it” and stand around the boats but not on them. When the children stand on the boat, they are “safe” and cannot be gotten out. The teachers will throw the nerf balls at the kids trying to hit them. If a child is hit, they must sit down on the side of the room. The children can only stand on a boat for 10 seconds and then they must run to another one. (The kids will need to be honest about changing positions every 10 seconds.)  

The teachers can hit them with the balls only as they run from one boat to another. Only 3 kids can be on a boat at a time so if a boat already has 3 children on it, the child must find another available one. Once everyone is out, you can start the game again. 

Play the game until it’s time to rotate. Pray with the kids and dismiss to the next class.

wanted to start over) 6. How many days and nights did it rain? (40 days and nights)  7. After the rain stopped, what did the dove bring back to show that there was dry 

land? (An olive branch)  8. What did God promise to Noah? (To never flood the earth again) 9. What sign did God give to Noah as a reminder of the promise He had made? (A 

rainbow)  10. How did Noah show obedience to God? (by building the ark and listening to all of 

His commands)  11. How can we be more obedient to God this week? (by listening to our parents, 

talking to our friends about Jesus, and praying for our loved ones)   Spend time allowing the kids to pray for one another as they have need.

TEACHING OBJECTIVE:  To teach the children how important it is to learn God’s word

 SUPPLIES:  Wristbands for all kids and Bibles for those who have not received one.  PREPARE:    Be familiar with the colors of the wristband and what they mean.  INTRODUCTION: “ We are so excited that each of you is here tonight!  We are going to have some fun in here tonight as we give you the opportunity to practice what we have been learning all week.  What are the 4 words that we learned? Love, Listen, Discern and Respond. We have learned a lot about the Lord this week and how He wants us to share the good news of Jesus with others.  Tonight we are going to give each one of you a Gospel wristband and a Bible if you have not received one.  (You need at least one Bible for every two students so that they can model sharing the Gospel with the wristband and Bible).  “Let’s review what the colors on the wristband mean:  

● Yellow  is Sin, remember that sin is anything that we say, think or do that breaks God’s heart. 

● Black  is Death, what we deserve for our sin is death (to be forever separated from God). ● Red  is Love, God showed you and me His love by sending Jesus to pay the price for our

 “O.K., let’s put into practice what we have been learning this week.  We are going to have you find a partner and each one of you are going to take turns walking through how we share the good news of Jesus using the wristband and Bible.”  Give kids ample time to go through the wristband and Bible while having all the adult volunteers walking through and helping the kids as needed.  “You guys and girls did a great job.  Now, the challenge is for you to take a wristband and Bible home or to school and share it with someone there.”  Close in prayer. “ Father, help us to love, listen, discern and respond to You by sharing the good news of Jesus with our family and friends.  Amen.”

JESUS’ TEMPTATION ELEMENTARY LESSON 6  

PART 2: THE BIBLE LESSON (25 minutes) 

BIBLE LESSON TEXT: MATTHEW 4:1‐11 

SUPPLIES:  play sword with the words “Sword of the Spirit” written on it ,  poster board with the following information written on it: 

Satan tempts     Jesus says Stone to bread  Jump down and angels would protect Bow down and worship Satan  PREPARE:  Read the text, pray and be prepared to present the lesson without looking at the curriculum. 

INTRODUCTION: “ Do you take tests in school? Why do you take tests?  (What you want the children to see here is that tests help us to gauge what we have learned. A test shows that you have learned things and that you know the answers.)  Let’s see what type of tests Jesus had to take. Before He could take his test, Jesus had to fast for forty days and forty nights. Fasting means that you do not eat any food.”  

Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Matthew 4.  Teach with enthusiasm for God’s word.  Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  “After John the Baptist, baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, Jesus was led by the Spirit of God to go into the desert. The Bible tells us that the reason that Jesus was led into the desert was so that He could be tested.  Jesus didn’t eat anything for forty days.  Think about how hungry He was!!  Think about how you would feel if you did not eat for forty days.  Would you be hungry? Would you feel weak? (Let the children discuss how they would feel.)  

“After forty days of fasting, alone in the desert, the Bible tells us that the tempter came.  Do you know who the tempter is?  The Bible, in this story, doesn’t call the Devil by his name, but it calls him by what he came to do ‐ to tempt.   What does it mean to tempt someone? (To tempt someone is to cause someone to desire to do something wrong or unwise.)  

“The tempter tried to tempt Jesus with three things. The first thing he said to Jesus was, ‘IF you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ Now remember Jesus had not eaten for forty days and was hungry. The tempter tried to tempt Jesus in one of the areas where He was the weakest at that moment, which was hunger.  He was trying to tempt Jesus to use His own power to get food instead of depending on God’s provision.

“The tempter also said, ‘IF you are the Son of God.’  By saying this, the Devil is saying, ‘prove that you are the Son of God.’ The tempter is using this to tempt Jesus to use his supernatural powers to satisfy his great hunger. But Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ God wants us to depend on Him. He will be our provider if we ask Him.  Jesus knew that the Bible tells us that what really gives us life is not food for our tummies but the Bible, the Word of God. 

“Then the tempter took Jesus supernaturally to the highest point of the temple in the City of Jerusalem. Remember that they were in the desert. Then the second thing the Tempter said was, ‘IF you are the Son of God, throw yourself down.’ The Devil said this because he knew that the Bible said that God would command His angels to take care of Jesus.  But Jesus answered him with a different scripture, ‘It is also written, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’’ This time the Devil was tempting Jesus to test God. Jesus knew that the Bible said NOT to test God. 

“Then the tempter took Jesus supernaturally to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. Then the third thing the Tempter said was, ‘All this I will give to you, IF you will bow down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ The devil wanted to tempt Jesus with power. The devil tried to tempt Jesus with being more important than God, but Jesus knew that the only one who should be worshiped is God and no one else.   Show the poster board with the three tests written on it. 

“Then the devil left him and the angels came and attended to Jesus. 

“The tempter tried to tempt Jesus with the same types of things that he tries to tempt all of us with also. For example, d o you ever crave food that you shouldn’t eat? Is it hard to say no to ice cream and candy and things like that? Does the tempter ever say to you, ‘You can be the most popular or important if you do what the bad kids do?’  Sometimes the tempter talks to us by putting bad ideas in our heads. Sometimes he uses other people to talk to us, for example: Sometimes our friends or people around us try to get us to do things that we know are wrong or that we shouldn’t do.  

“Jesus showed us the way to fight back. Let’s think about it.    What three words did He use every time He replied to the devil?  Jesus always said, ‘It is written.’ (have 3 children come up and write ‘it is written’ on the poster board under ‘Jesus Says’ by each test)  Where is it written?  It was written in the Bible. Jesus didn’t argue with the tempter, He just stated the truth that the Bible had said. To be able to tell the tempter what was said in the Bible, Jesus had to KNOW what the Bible said. The Bible was His weapon. The Bible is even called, ‘The Sword of the Spirit.’ (show sword)  The Bible is the weapon that God gave us to fight the tempter. When the tempter comes to you, you need to use your sword to fight him.  The test that Jesus had to take

was that when the tempter came, did He know how to answer with God’s Word? Did He know how to fight with His sword? It was important that Jesus pass this test because He would be the perfect one who would die for our sin. 

“We all need to know what the Bible says. It is important that you pass each test because there will be more as you grow up. You do not want to be fooled by the devil’s lies because you don’t know what the Bible tells you. You can do just like Jesus did and always say, ‘It is written.’ 

“Let’s say that together, ‘IT IS WRITTEN!’”

PREPARATION:  Write the memory verse on the board leaving small gaps between the words so that when you cover up a word, you don’t cover the word next to it. 

READ THE VERSE:  Read the verse to the class 

EXPLAIN THE VERSE:   “  This verse is from our Bible lesson. It is what Jesus said to the tempter. When Jesus said, ‘it is written,’ He meant that it was written in God’s Word, the Bible. At that time they had the Old Testament part of the Bible and Jesus was quoting from that. The verse He is quoting is Deuteronomy 8:3. This verse tells us that food and other earthly things only help us so much.  It is God’s Word that really helps us. This verse tells us that for us to have a better life, we don’t just need food, we need to know God’s Word.” 

LEARN THE VERSE: It Is Written! For this activity, write the memory verse on a board at the front of the classroom. Practice reading it a few times together and then use post‐it notes to cover up one of the words. Then, practice reading the verse again followed by covering up a second word with post‐it notes. Continue this pattern until the entire verse is covered and the children are saying the verse from memory.  

EXTRA ACTIVITY:  Reverse the game beginning with some words covered and have children guess the missing words.

JESUS’ TEMPTATION ELEMENTARY LESSON 6  

PART 4 GAME: “RUN TO THE WORD” 

SUPPLIES:  3 colors of masking tape 

PREPARATION:    You will need to create three circles on the floor with colored masking tape. Make each circle a different color. The circles should be approximately six feet in diameter. The size of the circle will depend on the number of children in the class. They will be running from one circle to another, so make the circle large enough that all the children can fit into it without kids being pushed out of the circle and getting hurt.  

INSTRUCTIONS for Run to the Word:    Designate a scripture to go with each circle. Example: A red circle could be designated as the “Man does not live by bread alone” circle. A green circle could be designated as the “Do not put God to the test” circle and a blue circle could be designated as the, “Worship the Lord only” circle.  

Explain:  The teacher will read a scenario that children might face someday. The children will be standing around the room, outside of the circles. When the teacher reads the scenario, the children will run to the circle that applies to that scenario. As they run, they need to shout, “It is written!” For example, the scenario is: Your mother told you not to eat any candy before dinner, but after school your friend gives you a candy bar and says, “Go ahead and eat it, your mom won’t know.” At this point the children would run to the red circle and shout, “It is written!” as they run to it. The teacher would explain how it is important to obey our parents and that God tells us to obey them. Tell them that sweets eaten in secret or disobedience actually make you feel bad. They are not yummy at all. The children will stay in that circle and run from there to the next circle. 

SCENARIOS: 

● In the movie, “God’s not Dead!” the teacher tells the students to write on a piece of paper, “God is Dead.” What if someone tells you that God is not real?  The students should run to the blue circle designated as, “Worship the Lord only.” Tell the children that many people will tell them that God is not real, but it’s our responsibility to tell and show that He is. 

● You really want a new bike. You tell God that if he is real, he’ll give you a new bike.  The students should run to the green circle. Explain that we can ask God for a new bike and sometimes He says yes. But when the answer is no, there is a reason and we need to accept that answer and continue to trust Him. 

● After dinner, your mom tells you to go cut the pie into equal pieces. You are in the kitchen alone and you want to cut your piece bigger.  Run to the red circle. Explain to the

children that God sees all that is done in secret and that He knows what is in our hearts and thoughts. Remember when we are tempted we can always ask for help. 

● Truth or Dare, is a silly game. People dare you to do silly or harmful things. What if someone dares you to do something dangerous and says, “Well if you’re a Christian, God will protect you.”  The children should run to the green circle. Explain that God wants to protect us, but He has said not to do harmful things on purpose. 

● You are at a slumber party and all the kids want to do something scary, so they decide to play with a Ouija board or tell ghost stories.  Run to the blue. Explain to the children that Ouija boards, ghost stories and other scary things are the opposite of worshiping God. God wants us to think about things that are good, pure and excellent. We are to only worship Him, never things that are evil. 

● Someone tries to bully you and tells you to do what they say because God doesn’t care. They should run to the green. Explain that they must know that God’s Word says He does care and He will never stop caring. He promises to never leave us. Do not believe when others tell you otherwise. If someone is bullying you, tell your parents, your teacher or your pastor. Ask for help!! 

● You absolutely love a certain rock star. You have posters of them on your bedroom walls, you listen to their music all the time and follow them on twitter and Instagram. They are the most important person you know.  They should run to the blue. Explain to the children to be cautious of having “idols”. We should worship God and not any man or woman. 

● You are at the store with your friend and they take a piece of candy without paying for it. They tell you that you should too because everyone does it and it is so small, the store will never know.  Run to the red. When we want something that does not belong to us to the point that we would steal it, our desires are stronger for things of this world than for God. Things, including food will not satisfy us, only God will. 

● There is a popular group of kids at school and they are so cool. They wear the latest fashions and everyone likes them. You want to be just like them so you too will be popular, even if it means doing some of the wrong things they are doing.  Run to the blue. We must not focus on people. It is so easy to wish we could be like other people instead of focusing on God and wanting to be like Him. Be careful when you are tempted to do, say or look like others to get their approval instead of doing, saying and looking like God wants you to.

1. Have you ever been tempted to do something that you know you weren’t supposed to?   2. How did you respond? 3. What are some of the ways Satan tried to tempt Jesus? (food, power, testing God) 4. What did Jesus say to Satan when he tried to tempt him with food? (Our memory verse 

Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”) 

5. What can we do when we are being tempted? (Pray and quote scripture)  6. What can you do to make wise choices?  (Think about what God’s word says and do it) 

 Spend time praying for students to stand firm against Satan and for them to have courage to do what is right in the sight of the Lord.

TEACHING OBJECTIVE:  To help the children learn that there is only one God, our God.

PART 1:  THE GATHERING 7 (35 minutes)

 SUPPLIES:  Wristbands for all kids and Bibles for those who have not received one  PREPARE:   Be familiar with the colors of the wristband and what they mean.  INTRODUCTION: “ This has been an amazing week.  We hope that you have learned about God and most importantly that  you can do anything that an adult can do when it comes to following Jesus. ”    “O.K, I need two volunteers.”  Choose two kids. One is taken out of the room. The other has 1‐3 minutes (depending on the size of your group) to arrange a maze, using all the people in the room. The maze can be as creative and complicated as he/she wants as long as there are a beginning and an end.   Variation:  Especially if you have a small group (under 30) use chairs as well as people to create the maze.   After the maze is arranged, bring in the second person who is now blindfolded and let them go. See how long it takes them to make it to the end of the human maze.   Switch so the other person goes through the maze.  Ask children to sit back in their place.  Say, ”kids there are times that things may seem confusing and you are not sure which direction you are to go.  The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5,6 to trust in the Lord with all of our heart, don’t try to understand things on your own but in all of our ways we are to acknowledge God and He will direct our paths.  “I believe that God has a plan and purpose for each one of you not just for the future but for today!  Let’s pray and ask God to direct and guide all that we do so that we can be a witness for Him so that others may know Him.”

PART 2: BIBLE LESSON 

BIBLE LESSON TEXT:  Genesis 11 

SUPPLIES:   Jenga or blocks of some sort 

PREPARE:  Study the lesson from the scripture and read through the lesson so that you are prepared to teach it without looking at the curriculum. 

INTRODUCTION:   Ask for 4 kids to come up and help you build something.  Explain to them that you want them to build a tower, however, they are not able to talk while they are doing it. After allowing them some time, now ask them to try again, but this time they can speak.  Was it harder or easier to build a tower the first or second time? Why? It is important for us to be able to speak to understand what we are doing.  What if some or all of you spoke a different language.  Would you have been able to communicate and build your tower as easily?  Today we are going to learn about a time that God confused some people’s language. 

Teaching Tip:  Make sure your Bible is in your hand opened to Genesis 11.  Teach with enthusiasm for God’s word.  Speak loudly, take your time and use your own words so that you are able to do it without looking at the curriculum.  “After Noah came out of the Ark, his sons and their wives had children and those children had children.  There were as many as five generations now living on the earth, and the whole world had one language. They settled in a plain called Shinar and said to each other, ‘Let’s make bricks and build a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we can make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the earth.’ 

“The way they built this tower was with a square base and sloping sides with stairs that led upward. They thought that they could use the staircase to get to heaven. They were very egotistical and proud to think that they could build a  tower so great that it could get them to heaven.  They thought incorrectly that they could be equal to God and that they could reach God by a staircase.” 

Question:  Do you know our only way to get to God? Jesus is the ONLY way to God. 

“It is very interesting that these generations were the first ones after the flood. Their great grandfather was Noah.   Question:  If you were Noah and his sons and you had survived the flooding of the entire world on an ark filled with two of every kind of animal, wouldn’t you tell your grandchildren and great grandchildren? If you knew that God had destroyed the world because man was wicked, wouldn’t it make you careful to be good? 

“It is very important that we know what God has done for us. We need to know that Jesus died for us and we need to share this with others. Right now we can share this with friends. When

we get older we can share Jesus with our children and grandchildren. If we don’t share, the future generations can become evil just as Noah’s great, great grandchildren did. 

“But God came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. God said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible to them. I am going to confuse their language so they will not understand each other.’ So God scattered them from there all over the earth and they stopped building the city. It was called Babel. 

“In the dictionary the definition of babel is a confused sound. When we say someone is babbling, we mean that they are not making sense.  The origin of this word is the Tower of Babel.“       Question:  Was it easier to build your tower when you could speak and communicate? 

“Egotistical is an exaggerated sense of self‐importance. This is when we think we are more important than we are. We are only important because we are important to Jesus. He thinks we are very special and He loves us very much, so much that He died for us. But we must know how special we are to God without becoming prideful. Pride is thinking too highly of oneself. God tells us that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall (proverbs 16:18) .”     Question:  Do you think that is was happened to the Tower of Babel?  

“In 1 Peter 5:5 the Bible tells us that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Noah was a humble man. He was righteous and obeyed God when God told him to build an ark and God saved him and his family. Noah’s descendants were not humble. They thought they could get to God by their own efforts of building a tower.  

“It is interesting that God let them build it for a while. God did not stop them before they started. He gave them time to realize that what they were doing was wrong, but they never realized that on their own. They just kept building. Remember that they had to make the bricks first. This was a long period of time. 

“God wants to give us time to realize where we may be proud. He wants us to realize that the only way to God is through Jesus and nothing that we can build or do will get us there.” 

Question:   Have you been trying to get to God by being good? Have you been trying to get to God by being great? Are you ready now to see that the only way to heaven is Jesus? Would you like to ask Him to be your Lord and Savior right now? 

(Be prepared to have helpers pray with each child that raised their hand.)

PART 3:  MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY/GAME (25 minutes) 

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. ”   1 Timothy 2:5 

SUPPLIES:  different color poster board or construction paper, Ziploc bags 

PREPARATION:  Write the memory verse on a strip of poster board or construction paper for as many teams as you think you might have. Try to use different colors for each verse to keep them from getting mixed up. Cut the strip up into individual words. Keep each set of words in its own Ziploc bag. 

READ THE VERSE:  Read the verse to the class.  

EXPLAIN THE VERSE: “ It is very important that we KNOW that there is only ONE God. There are many different religions in the world today and they claim that there can be other gods besides our God, that He is just one of many. This is not true. This verse tells us that there is only one God and there is only one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way to heaven. You can’t get to God and heaven by any other god, by good deeds, by being a good person or just because God loves you. God loves you so much He gave you Jesus. You must ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life so that He can be your pathway to heaven and God.” 

(This would be a good time to see if any of the children want to ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior and/or discuss it with one of the leaders.) 

LEARN THE VERSE:   Divide the children into teams of 4. Once you have your teams, have them sit on the floor in a circle or together at a table. Give them a Ziploc bag. At your, “GO,” the children can dump the Ziploc contents and put the words in the correct order. The first to complete the verse correctly wins. This can be played multiple times for multiple winners and the memorization of the verse. You could play the CD of “God and God Alone” during this activity.

PART 4:  GAMES (25 minutes) ‐   Run to the Throne 

SUPPLIES:  Enough chairs for all of the children. You will need one large chair to designate as the throne, a CD of the song “God and God Alone” by Phillips, Craig and Dean and a CD player, or be able to play it loud enough on an IPod for everyone to hear. 

PREPARATION:  This is a game of musical chairs. Put all the chairs in a circle. There should be one less chair than there are children. Point out that the large chair is the throne. Notice that there is only one throne.  

INSTRUCTIONS:   Have all of the children sit in a chair except one. As you play the music, the children will walk around the circle of chairs. When the music stops, (vary the length of time you play the music) everyone tries to sit down. The person left standing without a chair must sit on the floor. Take away one chair and repeat. Do this until the final chair left is the “throne.” At the end, point out that there is only one throne and there is only ONE God that sits on that throne. Before you begin the game, you can read the lyrics of the song to the class. Discuss what it means if they have questions. 

SONG: “YOU ARE GOD ALONE” 

You are not a God created by human hands, You are not a God dependent on any mortal man, You are not a God in need of anything we can give By your plan, that’s just the way it is.  You are God alone from before time began, You were on your throne, you are God alone, And right now, in the good times and bad, You are on your throne, you are God alone.  You’re the only God whose power, none can contend, You’re the only God whose name and praise will never end, You’re the only God who’s worthy of everything we can give, You are God and that’s just the way it is.  You’re unchangeable Unshakeable Unstoppable that’s what you are

SMALL GROUP TIME:  Ask the children the following questions and discuss their answers:  

1. Why do you think God was not happy with the people who built the Tower of Babel? ( They had forgotten all about God. They were no longer humble and seeking Him. Instead they were trying to be great and get to heaven on their own.) 

2. What did God do to the people?  (He confused their language so they could not understand each other. FACT – today there are almost 7000 languages in the world.) 

3. The people said that they wanted to make a name for themselves. What does this mean and why was it wrong? ( They wanted to be well known, famous. Many times when someone wants to be well known, it is because of pride. When we are prideful, we tend to think about ourselves as more important than we are instead of thinking about God and how we can serve Him better.)  

4. Today it is so easy to be prideful. When we “brag” about ourselves or post selfies all the time on social media, we are being prideful. Do you think God is happy with what you post on social media?  (Answers will vary. Discuss how “selfies” are about promoting ourselves. God cares about what is in our hearts, and it shows what’s in our hearts by what we post on social media.) 

5. Do you have friends or teachers that try to tell you that there are other gods besides our God? Do they try to tell you that you should accept other religions or you are bad (intolerant)?  (Discuss with them that many will try to tell them that they are bad for believing there is only ONE God. Tell them that they need to be strong and don’t back down. We must love other people who do not believe this, but we cannot back down from the absolute truth that there is ONE God and the ONLY way to Him is through Jesus.)  

Spend time praying for and with one another as we wrap up for the evening.
