PROJECT OVERVIEW

• The individual project is by far the most important single piece of work in the BIT degree programme.

• Project also aims to assess the candidate’s ability to communicate his/her ideas and work.

• It is equivalent to three (3) Modules in the BIT degree programme

• from the end of the second year through to the end of the third year covering over 300 hours of work.

• IS design & development skills– Construct a project from initial ideas, via a thorough

analysis of the problem;– Use references– Apply theories, tools and techniques from taught

courses;

• Report Writing Skills– Formal report writing.

• Summarising and Presenting Skills– Demonstrate the solution to the problem through

developed software;– Defend ideas in discussions and presentations;

• A project in business and science is a collaborative enterprise, frequently involving research or design, that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim.

• Software is a collection of computer programs, procedures and documentation that perform some tasks on an operating system.

• The term covers a large variation of uses within the business environment, and can be categorized by using a small, medium and large.

• The small business market generally consists of home accounting software, and office suites such as – Microsoft Office and – OpenOffice.org.
