INTRODUCTION TO NEWLY INTRODUCED SALT WAGON IN INDIAN RAILWYS
WAGON FOR SALT TRANSPORTATION
These two new type of wagon which will enable bulk transportation of bigger bags & carriage of loose salt.
The covered wagon with FRP sliding roof a variant of the covered wagon.
These wagon with the sliding roof which open up to 50% on either sides allowed top loading of bag salt, for the first time bigger bags of salt up to 200,250 & even up to 500 kg capacity can be loaded from the top.
The roof with FRP lining makes the wagon lighter & train loads of 3944 tons is ensured . These wagons can be used to transport other commodities also.

Open wagon with FRP lining & movable tarpaulin cover & covered wagon with moveable FRP sliding roof.
Open wagon with interior FRP lining a variant of the open wagon already in use in Indian railway. the standard open wagon of Indian railway has been modified to incorporate sealed doors to allowed loading of bag salt from the side. The entire interior has been fortified with corrosion resistant FRP lining thus making of wagon its first kind to suitable for loading of loose un packed salt.
The collapsible roof attached to the wagon keeps the salt safe from changing weather condition during transportation.
These two wagons will transport 68 tons against the existing 64 tons, science the train will now consist of 58 wagons as against the present 44 wagon train of BCN wagons, the tonnage carried per train would goes up from2816 tons to 3944 tons about 40% increase.
