TRANSCRIPT
“I will be prompt by using my time wisely” This means being on time to class and being ready to take care of business or to begin working. A prompt person hands in assignments on time and realizes that lateness affects his/her ability to be successful. Being prompt also shows that you are organized and responsible. Failure to be prompt says “I’m not as committed to this endeavor.” “I don’t really care about the outcome.” “I’m disorganized and irresponsible”. “I don’t care enough about you to worry about you being inconvenienced.”

“I will be POLITE to my peers and adults by showing respect.” This means treating everyone (students, teachers, and guests) with dignity and respect; no teasing. This also means displaying appropriate body language (posture, eye contact, etc.) It DOES not look like --- eyes rolling, sighing, head down, back to speaker, yawning loudly, etc.) A polite person uses appropriate language and doesn’t litter or disrespect our school’s campus or other people’s property.

“I will have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE about myself, my work, my learning, and my peers.” It’s important to have a positive mental attitude - Think “I’ll try”, not “I can’t” or “I won’t.” Be ready to participate and don’t give up. PA opens your mind, NA closes it. PA reveals possibilities, NA obscures possibilities. PA is engaging, NA is disengaging. PA increases blood flow to the brain, NA reduces blood flow to the brain.

Be in proper dress code. Be mentally and physically prepared. Being Prepared means to be committed toward the task at hand, to be organized and responsible, and to be mindful about what it takes to do the job and the possible obstacles you might encounter.

“I will PRODUCE my best work!” Complete assignments or homework. Create quality work. Use class time properly to complete work. Producing means providing some tangible, observable evidence of your participation. The products of our participation, whether we want them to or not, reveal our character.

“I will PARTICIPATE fully in order to learn as much as I can.” That means I will step up and ask Questions, readily participate or listen in classroom, and to not disrupt by talking out of turn, or making other disruptive sounds (tapping, whistling, singing). Being a participant means actively joining in, being completely engaged in the activity at hand, being in the moment by listening when asked. This means no lazy brains allowed – no staring into space. Show interest in what you are doing.
