Introduction: Microchem Lab Services (Pty) Ltd is an independent and authoritative provider of a comprehensive range of chemical and microbiological analyses and related services to the food and non-food industries. Our aim is to offer comprehensive chemical, nutritional, environmental, microbiological, and food borne pathogen analysis to clients. Microchem was established by Raymond Hartley in 2007 when he bought the Woolworths in-house laboratory. In 2009 Microchem acquired Consulting Microbiological Laboratory (CML) in Gauteng. CML was a well known microbiological laboratory, the acquisition allows for greater opportunities to service Microchem’s Gauteng clients who require microbiological services. Our Services:
Routine food microbiology analyses
Food borne pathogen analyses
Water microbiological analyses
Product shelf-life analyses
Foreign object inspections
Hygiene inspections and reports
Microbiological swabbing
Food chemistry
Nutritional analyses
Trace elemental and heavy metal analyses
Food colorants (Azo Dyes)
Vitamin analyses
Water chemical analyses
Melamine analyses
Pesticide analyses Consulting services: Our specialists provide consultation on the assessments and advice on environmental hygiene management programmes, interpretation of analytical results and advice on nutritional analyses, as well as assistance with pathogen management in production facilities. Quality: Microchem is a South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) accredited laboratory that uses a quality system which meets national and international criteria (EN45001, ISO 17025). The analytical methods employed are based on nationally and internationally accepted procedures.
Facilities: To meet your analytical requirements our modern facilities include centrally situated laboratories with over 1000 square meters of laboratory space for adequate sample reception, analyses and storage. Microchem continuously invests in the latest technology, Our state of the art technology includes GC, GC/MS, GS-MS/MS, ICP-OES, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, real time PCR, Tempo, Vidas and LIMS. These instruments have greatly broadened the range of analyses, and enable us to test for substantially lower levels of detection, and allows for the analysis of whole new classes of compounds. Personnel: Our laboratories are staffed with advanced degree chemist, microbiologists, biotechnologists, food technologists, and highly trained analysts to provide an exemplary and personalized service. The personnel’s strong, multi-skilled technical backgrounds and experience in a variety of analytical specialties ensure that our laboratory stays in the forefront of technology to provide superior results.
