Project Scope: The Improvements under this contract includes:

Roadway widening ( 12” type B stabilization and OBG 9) to accommodate three

11’ lanes with a 4’ to 5’ green background bike lanes on each side

Milling and resurfacing (milling the existing roadway 1” and resurfacing with 1” of

SP Structural Course (Traffic C) and 1” FC-9.5)

Extensive drainage and stormwater improvements including 70 curb inlets, ditch

bottom inlets and manholes with over 1,600 LF of pipe and 1,750 LF of French

Drain

Signalization improvements at Riverside Drive and Woodside Drive

Mast arms

Pedestrian detectors

Video detection system

New cabinets

Landscape improvements including installation and repair of irrigation and

installation of new landscape

Lighting system on the North side of the roadway.

III. Approach to Critical Issues Critical Issue- PIO & Stakeholders CoordinationChallenges & Approach: Coordination with Broward County and the City of Coral Springs Coordination with adjacent business to ensure continuous driveway access during construction.

Especially for plazas on the south side with one way traffic through the parking lot Coordination with adjacent schools/Parks Extra attention to protecting Whispering Woods Park right-of-way Approach Highlights: construction flyer distributer, weekly progress update & 2 week advance notice prior

to work.

Critical Issue- Utility CoordinationChallenges & Approach: Coordination with utility owners (TECO, ATT, FPL, CITY, Etc.) Soft digs are critical for mast arm locations Multiple Utility relocations not addressed in the Draft Plans. Proximity to overhead utilities and OSHA Requirements (De-energizing; using low profile equipment; Etc.) Our approach includes:

Create a matrix with all the anticipated utility work Pre-construction utility meeting Early Utility relocation coordination

Critical Issue- Communication with County Project ManagerChallenges & Approach: Our SPE will ensure that the PM is informed of project related issues and construction progress using the

following methods: Weekly progress meetings Weekly progress reports Monthly logs (PIO, WO, RFI, Etc.), dailies and emails

Approach to Critical IssuesCritical Issue: Earthwork & AsphaltChallenges & Approach: Monitoring Earthwork Quantities Performing VT and QC testing Monitoring the paving operation to ensure smooth ridability is critical at intersections. Pre paving meeting with the contractor. Review the asphalt QC plan prior to paving and will provide comments to the contractor.

Ensure temperature testing is performed. Asphalt tickets are collected for review. Milling depth is checked.

Cleanness of the milled surface prior to tack application, track asphalt application rates, track tackapplication rates.

Tracking overbuild and verifying final elevations using OUR survey crew.

Critical Issue- DrainageChallenges & Approach: Pre-activity meeting. Timely submittal & review of shop drawings. Only Stamped Structures are used. Ensure that all filter fabric, bricks, mortar & coarse aggregate are:

Certified & Sampled and accepted to AVOID any rework.

Critical Issue- Signalization & Pavement MarkingsChallenges & Approach: Locations of the mast arm foundation. Foundation elevation. Foundation bolt alignment. Thorough review of Drill Shaft Installation Plan. Pavement marking layout prior to paint and thermoplastic application. Allow proper curing time prior to placing thermo.

III. Approach to Critical IssuesCritical Issue- MOT & SafetyChallenges and Proactive Approach: MOT will be a main focus to our team, working on one side of the roadway at a time, ensuring:

Pedestrian access specifically for: Coral Springs High School, Center Academy Coral Springs, American High School, Forest

Glen Middle School; Coordination will include school & crossing guard staff for constructionduring school hours. Coordination with surrounding residents and businesses.

Driveway Access Implementing lane closures as per the FDOT standard index 600, protection of drop offs, providing

business access

Other Critical Issues: Tree removal / trimming in proposed sidewalk areas

Obtaining permits prior to start of tree removal or clearing and grubbing Comparing the work performed by construction project east of the project limits to our proposed work

in order to avoid conflicts, redundancy and rework Coordination with FDOT

CIGP Contract Requirements Reimbursements WO’s, CO’s, Time Extensions Constant Communication

Final Materials Certification and Final Estimates: Using only materials approved by the County and FDOT,using APL signalization items, & coordination for material testing between the QC/VT Lab. Monthly & FinalEstimates will be prepared by Felix and reviewed by Bryan to ensure the accuracy ofpayments to the contractor

City of Oakland Park Bid Pack 9; Drainage, Utility and roadway Infrastructure Improvements

Scope of Work: The project encompasses approximately 570 acres, the project boundariesare east of Dixie Highway, west of Federal Highway, north of NE 38th Street and south of NE50th Court. This project includes drainage improvement, water main replacement, sewer forcemain replacement, rehabilitation of Lift Station B-2, Lift Station #3, Lift Station #4, sidewalkinstallation, roadway improvements and resurfacing. The proposed drainage improvementsinclude construction of roadside swales and closed drainage system, construction of newstormwater conveyance system piping networks, modification of the existing conveyancesystems and replacement of outfall structures that discharge into the existing interconnectedlakes and canals. Construction of roadway improvements on NE 45th Street will include theaddition of paved shoulders and eastbound lane widening at the intersection of NE 18th Ave.
