Namaste!! SpeCivil Mania'18 welcomes all its readers and patrons to partake with us, all

that this Newsletter has to offer, in the form of information and insights into the working of

the Civil Family, as this edition of SpeCivil Mania'18 is the 4nd Edition. It highlights the

achievements and activities of the department. It depicts the contribution of the department

in central level of the college.

Bangalore ➢ B.E in Civil engineering from Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore ➢ 6 months industrial experience in Project Managing Consultants in E-matrix

Consulting Engineers ➢ 2 years teaching experience in Teegala Krishna Reddy Engineering college, Hyderabad ➢ Published a paper on “ Cost effective composite concrete by using hypo sludge,

NPTEL Online Certification Courses: (1 No.)

➢ Mrs. D.DURGA NAGA LAXMI DEVI registered for “SOIL MECHANICS /

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING I” online course which is in progress dated

from JAN 22nd – APR 13th 2018 (12 Week Course).

TRADITIONAL DAY

We celebrated “UMANG “Traditional day on January 12th 2018 and the response was

simply amazing with nearly all the students and the staff turning up in traditional attires,

representing different cultures. It was a welcome change for all who looked wonderful in the

colourful sarees, sherwanis, kurtas, etc.

SPEC PARIVAR

SPEC Parivar was an event introduced in this year and was conducted on January 26th

2018, which was exclusively for all the staffs and their family members of St.Peter’s

Engineering College. It was a day for celebration for all the staffs. Cultural Programmes of

many faculties and their family members took place on that day and the day ended on a very

happy note.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

As per Academic Calendar of Civil Engineering Department there is an INDUSTRIAL

VISIT planned in the Academic Year 2017-18. All the students of 4th & 3rd year along with

faculty members visited the site of L&T METRO HYDERABAD on 21st FEBRUARY 2k18.

The Metro of Hyderabad facilitates 2 depots located in Uppal & Miyapur. The L&T METRO

staffs have explained about all the details of railway track, signalling, mechanical train

operation, Treatment Plant, construction procedures and problems faced during construction

and how they rectified those problems etc. under guidance of Mr. Nyathani Sudheer Kumar,

O&M – Learning & Competency Development.

FAREWELL TO PRADEEP SIR

Mr. Y.Pradeep Kumar, who was the first member of the Civil Engineering Family,

joined as Head of the Civil Department in 2015. He got a better opportunity in core field as a

Manager due to which our family is missing his services and contributions towards

academics. So, Civil Department planned a farewell party on Feb 28th, 2018 which was

organized by the students to honour him.

AQUILA 2K18

Every year, a Techno-Cultural Fest was held in our College (SPEC) dated on

16th & 17th, February 2K18.

On TECH-FEST:

Our Students from 4th, 3rd & 2nd Years have been enthusiastically participated in Various

Technical Events like MODEL PRESENTATION, AUTO CAD, SURVEYING, PPT &

POSTER PRESENTATIONS and TECHNICAL QUIZ Competitions.

Civil Department invited external judge for Technical Events Mr. Madan Mohan Reddy

from Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad to examine the student capabilities.

The Award Winners are:

TRINATH REDDY has got 1st Prize in MODEL PRESENTATION of

“CONCENTRATED SOLAR THERMAL POWER PLANT”.

T. BHAVANA, S. SEETA RAM REDDY has got 2nd Prize In MODEL

PRESENTATION of “UNDER GROUND TUNNEL”

NSS CAMP

Our Students of 4th, 3rd & 2nd Year has been participated in NSS Special Camp. SPEC

adopted a village Maisammaguda to create awareness regarding need of education,

cleanliness and women empowerment which was held from 2nd March to 8th March 2k18.

ITC ACADEMY YOUTH TALK TELANGANA 2018

Our 3rd Year student B. SHARATH CHANDRA has participated in ITC ACADEMY YOUTH TALK

2k18 which was held on 20 February 2k18 In VARDHAMAN COLLAGE OF ENGINEERING.

He gave speech on "THE SECRETE BEHIND THE SUCCESS". He got selected for TELANGANA

STATE PRE-FINALS and received certificate from M.SIVAKUMAR, Chief Executive Officer, ITC

Academy.

4th YEAR STUDENTS AND HoD SIR FAREWELL

The farewell for the first passing out batch of Civil Engineering Department was held

on 3rd April 2018. Civil 3rd Year students invited Ex-faculty to join in the fun on the day. All

the faculty members conveyed best wishes to the 4th year students for the beginning of new

phase in their life, motivating and cheering them all to excel in all walks of their pursuits.

Along with that event our Head of the Department Col. L.P.Dasika was felicitated by

respected Secretary T.V.Reddy. Students and Faculty’s made a video tribute to Dasika Sir,

thanking him for all his contributions towards the upbringing of the department.
