LET’S REVIEW THE STEPS:

1. Choose the right time & place.

2. Be confident and secure

3. Make eye contact, SMILE , approach

4. Greet person & tell them your name. “Hi, my is ____________________”

5. If appropriate, give firm handshake

6. Ask for the other person’s name

7. Repeat their name, “It’s nice to meet you Mrs. _________”

8. Tell something about yourself or ask a question - something to help start a conversation.

9. After you’ve met someone, it is important to say, “It was nice to meet you, _______.”

Best to ask a question...people respond better talking about themselves. Kids might have to work up a few favorite questions...be prepared to have an icebreaker that fits the situation. Be prepared! Visualize yourself in the situation. Listen well and breathe.
