System M has a global patent for good reason. The concept of a high-performance pivot hinge with a closer that is entirely mortised in the door is innovation enough. FritsJurgens® originally brought this revolution to architectural and building professionals almost a decade ago. In the meantime, this Dutch manufacturer has continued to develop and refine the technology with the goal of offering a universal solution, for doors of virtually any size, with high load capacity, and the advanced control necessary to allow it to be used anywhere.

S Y S T E M MSystem M packs an enormous amount of force into a compact space. To
harness this power we have developed a casing out of a single piece of
aluminum. We have also made the camshafts out of tempered steel for
ultimate endurance.
This means that the hinge system is extremely rigid and virtually
indestructible: our rigorous testing has shown that even after one million
cycles System M still behaves flawlessly. This is a system that is truly
designed for the ages—durable, invisible, and maintenance-free.5

System M is fully mortised into the top and bottom of the door with only small floor and ceiling plates installed on the finished surfaces — a virtually invisible system.

Each model offers a different closer strength tuned to handle specific door panels depending on the position of the pivot, the width of the door and its weight.

With the System M mortised flush to the bottom edge of the door and the floor plate set on the surface of the floor, the undercut on the door is 11mm (approx. 7/16"). Although it is possible to set the floor plate flush to the ground, this would make it impossible to adjust the speed or 0° position of the door once it is installed.

Once set, the top pivot spindle protrudes from the top of the door a total of 18mm (approx. 11/16"). The gap between the top of the door and the head jamb can range from a mini-mum of 4mm and a maximum of 10mm (3/8").

The minimum distance from the pivot point to the door edge is 91mm (3-9/16"). Given this, the following are minimum gap dimensions (C) at the jamb, for common door thicknesses, without there being a need to round or bevel the door edge, assuming the pivot is set in the middle of the door thickness. For doors of 24” and wider, a 1/8” gap is possible at the latch end of the door without beveling.

Sometimes the top and bottom pivot centers are not perfectly aligned (plumb) and this is evident in uneven gaps around the door. These gaps can be adjusted along the plane of the door using a 5mm hex key in the top hole.
This adjustment moves the door relative to the bottom pivot point. Care should be taken when returning the door to it’s closed position after adjusting to ensure no binding occurs.
Two 8mm holes are required in the edge of the door to access the top pivot. One sets the spindle and the other is used to adjust the gaps around the door.

The top pivot can be set using a 5mm hex key in the bottom hole.
Clockwise : Spindle up.Counter-clockwise : Spindle down.
IMPORTANT : to ensure that the door is secured properly, a minimum of 16 rotations of 360º are required.
NOTE : Long hex keys (up to 10 ft. long) are available for doors where the pivot is set beyond the reach of the hex key normally included in the System Set.

Remove the small rectangular caps from both sides of the floor plate.
Loosen all four set screws using the 3mm hex key. Adjust the angle of the door to the desired 0° position.
Re-tighten the four set screws before op-erating the door again. Replace the caps on the floor plate.
