Overview of Enterprise Monitor

RTView Enterprise Monitor is an application monitoring solution that provides an end-to-end view of the health of your most business-critical applications and the software and hardware that support them. RTView Enterprise Monitor provides the ability to correlate and visualize monitoring data across disparate elements in your infrastructure.

Solution Packages are used for gathering metrics and

data from specific technologies, such as TIBCO EMS, BW, databases, etc.




EM offers a Service Model that enables users to dynamically associate individual architecture components with a specific business application or service.

This establishes the hierarchy of components, enabling

an understanding of the business impact of a component problem.

• The Oracle Enterprise Manager Connector that enables RTView to connect to existing OEM deployments and collect performance data for databases and hosts.

• The UX Monitor Solution Package which will alert you when your web applications are unresponsive, performing slowly or generating errors.

• The RTView Host Agent that can collect performance data from hosts that are not already monitored by TIBCO Hawk or Oracle Enterprise Manager.

TIBCO ActiveMatrix Solution Package

• Allows you to monitor your services and nodes running on the AMX platform. Monitors hit rates, service response times, and fault/error rates across nodes and services.

• Complements the process and activity metrics provided by BWMON

on your BWSE implementation deployed under AMX

• Available only from SL directly as a Solution Package for the EM product.

• Not available as a standalone application

• Version 2.x and 3.2 of AMX supported.



OEM Connector

• Allows you to retrieve Oracle Performance metrics directly from OEM instead of connecting directly to the oracle instances

• Provides alerts and historical archiving like ORAMON

• The connector package OEMCON listens for data exported from OEM via JMS.

• Retrieves host metrics from OEM as well

• Sampling is done at a slower rate than ORAMON



Metrics Explorer

• Convenient way to create custom displays of trends of metrics without using the builder

• Graphical interface to easily locate and assign up to 5 metrics to a

single graph.

• These configured Views can be named and saved for use as a list of predefined configurations.

• Views can be shared or made private.



UX Monitor

• Provides end-user monitoring for web applications.

• It does so by performing simulated transactions as if a real user is accessing a URL via a Web Browser.

• When these simulated transactions are performed, UXMON gathers information about the transaction such as the performance of the transaction, transactional errors or invalid data errors.

• UX Monitor works with a Java console app called a Robot. Robots read configuration files that designate the URLs to monitor, optional login details and an optional search string to validate.

• Robots query the URLs at configured intervals and report the elapsed response time and any errors to the RTView EM platform.

Host Agent

• EM can retrieve host metrics from a variety of systems (Hawk, etc)

• The RTView Host agent is an agent that can be installed on your physical servers to retrieve vital host metrics.

• Suitable for situations where more in depth metrics are required, and higher frequency of data updates required to do proper analysis.

• For example, the RTView Host agent can be used in conjunction

with our Oracle Coherence monitor to deeply correlate how the data grid performance is related to physical server CPU, memory and network resources that are hosting the nodes that comprise the grid.



Html5 trend graphs

• The biggest advantage is that no plugin is required in the thin client since html5 is supported natively by all modern browsers.

• Lighter object than the current flex trends – can instance multiple times in a single display

• Better look-and-feel and enhanced features (e.g., time-

navigator)

• Easy to convert current graphs to html5
