The Mexican Pacific

El turismo representa para México una actividad estratégica y de gran importancia para su economía. Baste mencionar que representa casi el 9% PIB nacional.

Cada año, más de 39 millones de viajeros eligen visitar nuestro país, atraídos por su clima, su bio diversidad, su cultura ancestral, que contrasta con la modernidad de sus grandes urbes, su reconocida gastronomía y sobre todo, la acogedora hospitalidad de los mexicanos.

Si bien la mayor parte de los arribos se produce por vía aérea, el turismo carretero y recientemente el turismo náutico han crecido en importancia.

A bordo de las inmensos buques de cruceros arriban más de 6.7 millones de viajeros (1), pero su tamaño no intimida a las miles de embarcaciones que surcan nuestros mares y que son navegadas por sus propietarios desde aguas internacionales, siguiendo su propio itinerario.

Para los viajeros en tierra, existen numerosas opciones informativas y de orientación que les permiten disfrutar su estancia y aprovecharla cabalmente.

Sin embargo, quienes arriban por la vía marítima no tenían a su disposición instrumentos que facilitaran su trayecto, arribo, atraque, documentación y que les permitieran contar con el abanico de opciones de alojamiento en tierra, restauración y disfrute de los múltiples atractivos en cada puerto y sus cercanías.

Tourism is a strategic and important economic activity for Mexico, representing nearly 9% of the national GDP.

Every year, more than 39 million tourists choose Mexico for its beautiful climate, its impressive biodiversity, its ancient cultures contrasting with the modernity of its major cities, celebrated cuisine and above all, the warm hospitality of the Mexican people.

While most tourists arrive by air, the number of people arriving by highway or more recently by sea has become increasingly significant in recent years.

More than 6.7 million visitors arrive each year aboard cruise ships, in addition to the thousands of yachts, sailboats and boats that, unintimidated by these massive ocean liners, chart their own course through international waters.

For those travelling by land, there are a number of options offering information and guidance to ensure visitors enjoy their stay to the fullest.

However, until now those arriving by sea did not have the resources needed to plan their route, arrival and documentation process and provide them with information on the wide range of onshore hotel and restaurant options for them to enjoy the many attractions available in each port and surrounding areas. With this in mind, the

Por ello, mediante un esfuerzo conjunto, plasmado en un convenio de colaboración, las Secretarías de Marina y de Turismo del gobierno federal concibieron, diseñaron, integraron, produjeron y ahora ponen en sus manos el resultado de este trabajo, que se presenta como las Agendas Turísticas Náuticas, que pretenden atender la necesidad de este importante grupo de viajeros para quienes navegar constituye un estilo de vida, y una forma de conocer el mundo.

Las agendas se han dividido en dos regiones: una que abarca el litoral del Pacífico Mexicano haciendo referencia a 53 puertos, y la segunda, que cubre el litoral del Golfo de México y Caribe Mexicano con 45 puertos, integrando información turística y cartográfica vigente, de utilidad para el público usuario a las que están dirigidas.

Con más de 11,000 kilómetros de litoral en sus dos líneas de costa, incluyendo el Golfo de California y el Mar de Cortés, y una riqueza de 2.7 millones de Km2 de mar patrimonial, México tiene mucho que ofrecer a sus visitantes: 16 de sus 32 entidades federativas son ventanas al mar y cuentan con un valioso tesoro para compartir, constituido por sus vestigios arqueológicos de la civilización prehispánica; la fusión arquitectónica y cultural a partir de la conquista y hasta la independencia, manifiesta en sus ciudades coloniales, pueblos mágicos y artesanías; las obras del hombre contemporáneo en todas sus expresiones; la belleza del entorno natural que evoca al paraíso, y la interacción del ser humano con éste, desde la contemplación hasta la intensidad de los deportes extremos.

El Gobierno de México desea que este producto sea no solo útil sino interesante, y que contribuya a su experiencia de vivir y disfrutar México: Un mundo en sí mismo.

Mexican Ministries of the Navy and Tourism, jointly as a collaborative project, have conceived, designed, compiled, produced, and now make available these Nautical Tourism Guides, to meet the needs of this important group of travelers for whom navigation is a way of life as well as a way to see the world.

These guides are divided into two regions: one spanning 53 ports on Mexico’s Pacific coast and the other describing 45 ports on the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean coast, incorporating current travel and cartographic information, all of which we trust will be useful for the users for whom they are intended.

Bordered by more than 6,500 miles of coastline, including the Gulf of California and the Sea of Cortez and 1.6 million square miles of sovereign waters, Mexico has much to offer visitors. Sixteen of its 32 states face the sea and have treasures in store, ranging from the archaeological vestiges of its Pre-Hispanic civilizations; the cultural and architectural convergence spanning the centuries from the Spanish Conquest until Independence as seen in its colonial cities, magical towns and artisanal crafts, contemporary works in all their expressions, the beauty of the natural surroundings redolent of paradise, and the interaction of humans with nature, from tranquil contemplation to the intensity of extreme sports.

The Mexican Government hopes that this product will be not only a useful but also an interesting guide for our visitors to fully experience and enjoy Mexico: A World of its Own.
