1 EIGER‘THE NORTHFACE’

The Eiger is the most difficult mountain to climb in whole the Alps, and has a total height of 3970 meters. The northern side of the mountain is one of the most dangerous hills te climb, and has the well known name ‘the north face’. This wall wasn’t climbed be-fore 1938, when a Austrian expedition found a route up hill. You can find the Eiger in the Swiss Berner Alps, a area that is also known for it’s good skiing

How to get there? There are many planes going to the city of Bern, which is situated closely to the Berner Alps district. From there a train goes directly to the smaller city’s around the mountain. There are many things to do in the region, for example biking, rafting skiing and of course climbing are popular things to do.

3 MATTERHORNThe Matterhorn is partly due to his great name and a huge hights a famous mountains in the world. Also the pointed peak and the difficulty of climbing the mountain speak for themselves in the climbing world. A local legend is Ulrich Inderbinen, who has climbed the Matterhorn 371 times in his life, the last time at the age of 90.

How to get there?Again is the fastest way to get near the Matterhorn by plane. The peaks of the mountain are in the Zermat area, near the border between Switzerland and Italy. There are a number of roads that run along the area, and the car is the best way to reach the high Matterhorn.

travellerschoice “This is the most beautiful mountain I ever climbed, because it is very out-of-the-way. The mountain is on the Nabesna Glasier in Alaska. We had to fly from the outback of Alaska. The expedition lasted a total of three weeks. We were with four, a friend of mine and two Austri-ans.

We had an expedition with a lot of equipment. Consisting of a tent, food for three weeks , little burners and full climbing gear including snow-shoes. The picture is says more than text. In the upper left of the photo you see the igloo from the base camp with the arrival track right and left rail to the far ridge.”

4 BRIKSDAL

BREENGLACIER

Norwegian glaciers are a true mystery. For centuries this ice creeps its way up, and now this natural phe-nomenon is threatened by climate change it is cer-tainly worth to visit the Norwegian glaciers before they disappear completely. It is also possible to hike the glaciers by a guide and even in summer these majes-tic beauty’s are accesible.

How to get there? From many European airports, are flights departing to the Norwegian glaciers. Cities like Oslo and Bergen are near these glaciers. Because many areas are inaccessible in Norway, there are many small airfields. Tourists can also take advantage of these flights.

5MOUNTMCKINLEYMount McKinley is the highest mountain in Northern America. The highest peak is 6,198 metres, and climbing the mountain is very tricky. the first time the mountain had been conquered was in 1913, when Hudson Stuck tempered the mountain.

How to get there?Mount McKinley is a remote mountain and is certainly not the easiest to reach. You do fly at not so very advantageous prices from local airports. One of the destinations close to the mountain is Anchorage, but from here it is even days before you get to the the mountain.
