Tim Beveridge’s career has progressed in leaps and bounds since he abandoned his life as a lawyer some years ago.

Starting in musical theatre, he was one of the youngest performers to play the Phantom in “The Phantom of the Opera” in Sydney at the early age of 29, then appeared on the world stage by winning a place in the final of the world’s most prestigious music theatre competi-tion, the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre in the UK in both 2000 and 2002 – the only person ever to appear in two consecutive finals. His first recording, “Singer” with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra went gold within four weeks of release.

This marked the beginning of a 10 year collaboration with Russ Garcia (arranger to Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, et al) including a big band recording that culminated in the release of Tim’s second CD, “Come Rain, Come Shine” on the Sony/BMG label. The album, fea-turing Buddy Childer’s Big Band and conducted by Garcia, was recorded in Hollywood. Its endorsements included Burt Bacharach lyricist Hal David, among others.

Tim has sung in every major venue throughout New Zealand as well as the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Concert Hall with well-known New Zea-land performers such as Sir Howard Morrison, Dame Malvina Major and Hayley Westenra. He has conceived, produced, directed and starred in his own festival productions over the past ten years. His numerous concert appearances include performing as soloist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Auckland Philharmo-nia.

Other career highlights include having performed seven national anthems for the All Blacks (for seven wins – although he claims no credit...) including the prestigious final Lions versus All Blacks test match in Auckland and more recently the 2008 final of the Bledisloe Cup. Tim was also featured in “The Anthem Singer”, a documentary on Sky Sport’s Rugby Focus programme..

Other principal roles in musical theatre include the Australasian premiere of Sunset Boulevard in Melbourne in the Australian/NZ tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. Throughout NZ, Tim’s performances

also include principal roles in Les Miserables, Evita, Me and My Girl, Anything Goes and Car-ousel. Most recently he starred as The Pirate King throughout NZ with the hit production of The Pirates of Penzance

His career as an independent concert producer has seen Tim produce concerts through-out New Zealand with his Neophonic Orchestra. Among those was “Fly me to the Moon” at Auckland’s Town Hall conducted by Russ Garcia himself and recorded as a live-in-concert album. Other concert highlights include a National tour of his show “VEGAS” and a special Valentine’s Day event with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, “In Love with Kiri”.

His most recent production is “The Music is Bond...James Bond”– a celebration of 50 years of the music from the Bond films, which he recently produced and conducted with the Christ-church Symphony Orchestra.

“Beveridge’s charisma and impeccable artistry put him head and shoulders above the rest.”Michael Church Sunday Express (UK)

“In terms of sheer relaxed vocal finesse New Zealander Tim Beveridge was peerless. In the flowing andante of On the Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady he seemed to be duetting with the cello and when he sang the line “Cos there’s nowhere else on earth that I would rather be” you felt that was indeed nowhere else you would rather be sitting there hearing him effortlessly spinning vocal lines.”David Benedict The Singer magazine (UK)

“Upbeat, polished, dazzling, smooth. This concert presented an opportunity, rare these days, to hear live swing music and you would be hard pressed to find anything better than this in New Zealand. Tm Beveridge is a regular visitor to the city and he continues to impress.”Rachael Hawkey Christchurch Press

“...If, as William Shakespeare says, music is the food of love then Tim Beveridge... definitely qualified as a deep-dish apple pie (sometimes spicy, often comfortingly familiar, always satisfying)... Every woman in the room fell in love with him after his emotional rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera and song after song proved his reputation as a world-class act.”Bay Of Plenty Times

“...Classic numbers like Mack the Knife and Girl From Ipanema roll of Timís tongue like he is blowing bubbles, and remind you that music is truly a beautiful, loving and wonderful gift that we sometimes lose sight of”Steve Hogg – RipItUp

“And the star of the evening was undoubtedly Tim Beveridge, who offers the complete package of an easy stage manner and a powerful voice.”Timothy Jones – Christchurch Press

“... I have never been a fan of Phantom of the Opera, but was converted by Tim Beveridgeís singing of Music of the Night. This style of song – found him at his best, while Tim Beveridge the entertainer was quite brilliant in Tom Lehrer’s [“Old and Grey”].”David Snell Christchurch Press

“Tim Beveridge has an uncanny sense of climax and a voice of satin.”Christchurch Star

“... Beveridge came with credentials and lived up to them, and more. He has a voice of enormous range, of raw, rich, passion and power that brings the house down. Next it is as soft as rustling fur... goose-pimple time... Then he lets loose a charismatic personality with a delightful sense of humour that has the audience rolling in the aisles. His diction is perfect and he pinpoints each and every character he plays... even the hackneyed My Fair Lady numbers came alive at his touch.”Harry Brown – Taranaki Daily News

“... Tim’s declamatory style makes him an elegant, polished performer, disarmingly appealing.”Dame Malvina Major and Tim Beveridge gala concert – July 8, reviewed by Doug Hill

“... But the highlight of the bill was Kiwi singer Tim Beveridge. He... instantly showed why overseas producers are picking him for their stage productions. True, clear and every word perfectly delivered... He finished the first half with Music of the Night, that much over sung number from Phantom of the Opera, but this was like hearing it for the first time. It was breathtakingly good.”Steve Mason

“... Effortless is the best way to describe Beveridge’s voice, combined with a suave and sophisticated stage manner.”Nelson Review
