Purpose of the Interview

“Job Interview” is the face-to-face meeting between you and an employer

Generally the last and most important step in the job-seeking process

Could last from 15 minutes to over an hour depending the job

This is your chance to “sell” what you can do for the employer

During the interview the employer will judge your qualifications, appearance, and behavior

You decide if the position meets YOUR job goals and interests

Many companies are using social networking sites to as part of their interviewing and background checking process

Employers want employees to be successful on the job and not be an embarrassment

Primary information employers look for: Drinking and drug use

Offensive language/inappropriate pictures

Discriminatory remarks

Unprofessional screen names

Find out as much as possible

Check for website

Brochures/catalogs

Visit the place

Save questions about money for AFTER you have been offered the job

Write up a list of questions that YOU will have for the interviewer about the job and company

Create a folder or large envelope to bring with you Job Lead Card – has all of the employers contact information

List of questions for the interviewer

Dressing to impress

Proper grooming and personal hygiene
