Dress to impressLook smart and be proud. Make sure that you are smartly dressed and well groomed for the occasion. You will feel more confident in yourself by doing so.

Be positive and sell yourselfSmile and be positive. Try to be relaxed and upbeat. Show enthusiasm and energy during your interview and demonstrate to us how much you really want to be a part of our team.

Listen before you leapListen to every question being asked by the interviewer and answer them directly. Ask the interviewer to restate the question if you are confused or did not hear it.

Fit for the jobWhenever possible, give examples of how your skills and abilities would fit the job. When given the opportunity, why not ask us questions about the vacancy. Asking questions shows that the candidate has a genuine interest in the company.

Short is sweetRefrain from controlling the conversation. Do not diverge from the topic of discussion and ensure that you answer the question being asked to the best of your ability. Allow the interviewer to ask all their questions.

A CV is the reflection of your academic and professional background. In order to maximize your chances of being selected during the first step of the recruitment process, your CV needs to be as precise and complete as possible. All candidates registering on www.myjob.mu need to create their CV online as per the standard format available on the website. It is important to follow the steps and provide as much information in each section of the CV; contact details, education background, professional experience, language and a personal statement where hobbies and interests can be listed. It is not possible to attach a word document . Candidates need to create their CV online with the standard format provided by the website. ALWAYS MAKE SURE ALL DETAILS IN YOUR CV ARE ACCURATE

How to create a good CV

1) Personal Information: - Always make sure that the contact details provided are correct. You can edit your personal details anytime if there is a change of address or contact number. - The recruiter needs to be able to contact you easily and will probably always try the Mobile Phone number first. Be sure to provide the correct number. - If possible, insert a photo in your CV. Please select a professional photo, such as a passport photo.

2) Education: - List all your academic qualifications - Make sure to include the year, the institution and the qualification title. - If you are completing a diploma/degree, you can add it to your CV but it is important to provide the year that the course will be completed, and you may also add (In Completion) next to the course title. In such case, do not forget to edit your CV when the course is completed. - If you have been enrolled in a course which was not fully completed, you may add it to your CV but it is very important to mention: Not Completed. Listing an Academic Qualification as completed when not, is false information. - In certain fields, it may be important to provide academic results. For ACCA students, list the papers completed only. If you have not undertaken any tertiary education, listing your SC and HSC results may be important.

3) Experience: - List your working experience in the right order. The most recent working experience always needs to be on the top of the list. - Always provide the dates and years for each job. - Make sure that your job title corresponds to the job title that was provided to you by the company. - List your job responsibilities for each job. It is very important that your provide maximum information concerning your skills, competencies and responsibilities in previous jobs. Keep your information clear, short and precise. - Select the right job category for each position.

4) Languages: - List the languages that you know and select attentively your level for each language - very

fluent, fluent, basic level, written only or spoken only.

5) Personal Statement: - In this section, you can insert a list of hobbies, interests and achievements. - Do not copy paste a word document CV in this section! It will only appear as unstructured and confusing information.

6) Application Letter: - Every time you apply for a job on the website, you will be given the option to insert an application letter. An application letter does not need to be long and simply needs to say why you are interested in that particular position. This is optional. However, explaining your motivation will only be a plus for your candidature.

APPLYING FOR A JOB

Before your apply for a job online, and in order to increase your chances of being selected, you have to be sure that; - You have read carefully the whole job description - You have the qualifications required - You have the professional experience required - Your profile corresponds to the profile the company is looking for. - Ask yourself if you are really interested in that particular position and what your motivations are. The more motivated you are, the higher your chances of being selected. A motivation letter will help.

If you have been contacted by a company for an interview, be prepared! How to get prepared: - Make sure that you have read and understood the job description and that you know the main responsibilities attached to the position - See how your previous job experience can relate to the job in order to discuss it during the interview. - Show some interest in the company. Look for information concerning the main activity of the company and its environment. Do not hesitate to look for the website online, or to ask people around you for more information. - Have all the required documents ready – CV, qualifications, letter of recommendation. - Dress professionally. - Get organized on the day of the interview. DO NOT BE LATE. Be sure to know in advance, the exact place where you need to go. Do not hesitate to call the company again if you have any doubts about its location. Take all factors into consideration, leave early, be on time! And finally, relax, speak clearly and Good Luck!
