This unit is one of three units in the international semester

Study commitment The students are expected to participate in all lectures, self – directed, group (team) learning, engaging in

group (team work), participating in presentations, researching the challenges, generate ideas and develop

a prototypes to your challenges

Description of the unit This unit is an interprofessional unit involving students from Nursing, Social entrepreneurship, Social Education (pædagogik) and teacher education. All students are undergraduates and working towards a bachelor degree in their own professions. This unit aims to provide students from various schools with the opportunity to learn with, from and about each other in order improve their knowledge and skills in collaboration and to develop innovate ideas together to meet the challenges in social and health care in the 21’st century

Unit learning environment In this unit, you are assigned in groups (teams) of 5-8 students from the different professions. You are

given a challenge from the real world about health and social issues. In these groups you are collectively

required to research and provide innovate ideas to your challenge. You will work interactively with the

challenge on a platform called “VIA CONNECT”. In these groups, you will participate in discussions and

generate ideas, which you upload on VIA CONNECT platform. From these ideas, you will collaborate with

different professions in your team to develop a prototype. The key themes are interprofessional

collaboration and innovation to understand your own and others’ personal style, health and social

professional roles, leadership in collaborative teams and team development, conflict management and

assertiveness in your collaborative teams. In addition, there is focus on how to collaborate with the other

health and social professionals in your teams to create new ideas and prototypes for current and future

You will work in interprofessional groups (teams) with a challenge

Interactive teams You will apply Knowledge and skills acquired in the unit to work as an interprofessional team with other

students from different backgrounds to explore issues relating to collaborative care in your given challenge

provided by the municipality. This is done in your teams, face to face interaction as well as an E – platform

called VIA CONNECT. Each team will have a facilitator to guide you in your discussions and idea

development. The role of the facilitator is not to teach or transmit knowledge but to guide you in your

learning. The purpose of the interactive teams is for the students to learn with; from and about each other

and so your learning will arise from the interactions you have with student peers in your teams and on the

interactive “VIA CONNECT PLATFORM”.

Working in groups Group work is an essential part of learning, from with and about each other, you share ideas challenge

each other and grow personally and professionally

Lectures These sessions will provide knowledge about team dynamics, interprofessional skills, research and

innovation.

Self directed learning The students are required to be motivated self-directed learners. Learning may involve activities as self

guided reading. Participation in study groups, electronic dialogues, reflective writing and sharing of

knowledge and experience with other students . Self-directed learning promotes critical thinking and

problem solving skills

Criteria for the essay

Focus of the professional essay is addressed. The essay is an analytical

discussion and addresses interprofessioal working in health care

Demonstrate use of current research (five journal articles to use in your

Present, justify and discuss intercollaborative practice to your selected

health care issue

Evidence of research within the last five years

coherent logical and well integrated arguments, extensively supported by

readings and evidence, original and clearly presented in the written and

oral part

Literature cited is relevant, current and extensive, accurate and systematic citation and adheres to academic guidelines
