Fall Internship 2013- Weekly Work Samples

9/16-9/20:

This is my first draft of the main graphic for Madison House Autism Foundation’s Charity Buzz Event: an opportunity to have two studio recording sessions with the grammy-winners, songwriter Ali Tamposi & Maroon 5 vocalist/guitarist, Adam Levine. The microphone in this piece is made up of a cutout and transformations of the MHAF logo.

9/23-9/27: This the written portion of the outline I created for the content needed for informational pieces and “asks”, for the Autism Housing Network’s presentations. This sample demonstrates my strong project planning skills and organization.

Outline/Breakdown of content for AHN informational handouts:

about us and contact info•paragraph about mhaf, show that we are in favor of choice, what desiree is presenting and how she fits in...pic of desiree• add us on social media (simple icon and link), website address and general email•name, email, address, check box for subscribing to our mailing list•relationship to the autism spectrum: blank space for filling in specific relationship e.g.:self-advocate, parent, sibling, friend, grandparent, other family member, or professional etc… (check with adrienne to see how lines up with sales force category)•open space for feedback: ‘Let us know what you think about what was shared today’...IMPRESSIONS OF TODAY:•below the feedback….”If you’d like to share your story with policymakers, please email us at [email protected]” statistic: 72% of people with i/dd are living with a family caregiver because there is not enough funding for their residential needs. Issue at hand:

solutions:examples:Nearly a million individuals with I/DD are living with a caretaker over age 60….what will happen to them in the next decade? If we work together, solutions are possible.

SURVEY: questions for audience i.e.: -age of resident -age of caregiver present (give age range) -have you made any financial and legal arrangements for the future? (look at easter seals study) -are you interested in co-creating a residential option with others?QUOTE:‘Let us know what you see in store for the future of your adult child?’...then quote at bottom to share a short piece of their story or concerns.

I commit to helping make a difference! _______ (in order to get #’s of our outreach) have on envelope for them to make donation into or put questions into if they’d prefer.

-at bottom portion of “impressions of today’s presentation”: If you’re interested in: - getting more involved in advocacy housing issues ______ -aiding in co-creating an intentional community locally. ______ -volunteering time to furthering Madison House’s mission ______ -financially committing to empowering local communities ______(contact info from audience to be put with this instead of individual sheet)

Donations:-get an envelope for them to place it in and then can hand it back in then if they want to, address at top so if they wanted to mail it after, in case. Have it say something rememberable such as:-Please consider making a contribution to empower us in making a difference for decades to come. -Financially commit to empowering local communities for the next 6 decades, whether it be $6, $60, $600, or $6,000…. look up options for perforated paper options and sizes.http://www.perforatedpaperonline.com/

On a scale of 1 to 10 OR very dissatisfied/dissatisfied/neutral/satisfied/very satisfied-what was the level of urgency into looking at the future residential options for you/your loved ones residential options before the presentation?-what is now the level of urgency into looking at the future residential options for you/your loved ones residential options after the presentation?-how informed were you on housing issues before the presentation?-do you feel more informed after the presentation?-was speaker engaging?-was speaker informed?

What would be your impression from today:

What was not covered that you wish was covered:

9/30-10/4:

DO YOU DREAM OF BEING A STAR?

10/7-10/11:

These Charity Buzz graphics are the final version of the main one that was created and edited beginning my first week. Slight edits are apparent since the original draft and multiple attention-grabbing statements were added, so that the graphic could appear slightly different each day.

This is the first version that I designed through Adobe Illustrator of a banner for the front of Madison House’s office. Although transformations I made make it not apparent, this banner is very large with its original size being 6 ft by 2 ft. Program elements were configured to format the imagery so that it was set for high-quality print.

10/14-10/18:

This is a screenshot to serve as my work sample for my editing of the collateral material for ‘one-pager’ inserts during this week. I created the one-pager with content from previously written informtional documents. The material is shown in a new template created through InDesign on the right side of the shot above.

10/28-11/1:

#GlVlNGTUESDAYSave The Date: 12.3.13

This is the graphic that I constructed in Photoshop to demonstrate Madison House Autism Foundation’s participation in the online campaign #GivingTuesday. The graphic was included on the foundation’s website in the blog section, as well as on Facebook and other social media platforms. Every element is constructed out of colors of the MHAF logo (located in the bottom right) and social media links for more information about the campaign are included as well.

11/4-11/8:

Above is a photo of me holding the final product of the banner, which I designed and created in Adobe Illustrator, to be hung in the front of Madison House Autism Foundation’s office. The Banner measures in at 5 ft by 2 ft. It was a lengthy process to get this banner printed the way that we wanted it to be, but it resulted in a success.

11/11-11/15:

YERBOCDKI created this simple graphic in Photoshop, once again using only colors from Madison House’s branding. I used components of the organization’s logo individually throughout the piece. This graphic was used as supplementary material for a blog about the interns of Madison House Autism Foundation from the past and present.

11/18-11/22:

“Autism is the ‘Rosetta Stone of humanneurobiology’, providing richopportunities to study the neurobiologyof speech, brain rhythmicity andcreativity as it evolves on a different, but no |ess endowed, deve|opmenta|trajectory.”

The graphic to the left, is the example I created in Photoshop to present an idea for how statistical graphics could be presented.

The graphic to the right, is an example I used in the template that I created for quote

memes. The simple, clean look matches Madison House’s branding. Later edits were made changing the elements of this graphic

ever so slightly. This template ended up being the official one used from this week forward.

Lend a heIping hand this Thanksgiving.

Above is the Thanksgiving themed graphic that I created in Photo-shop for Madison House to share on their social media pages. The feathers of the turkey, as well as the leaves and text are all Madi-son House branding colors. My supervisor expressed the desire to use this graphic for Thanksgiving next year too.

The second graphic on this page was created to promote the issue of caregivers not receiving enough outside support. It also coincided with the Thanksgiving theme of giving. This graphic was shared on MHAF social media pages and attained a great amount of influence, displayed through likes and shares.

12/2-12/6 & 12/10:

I created my two final graphics to leave Madison House with for the holiday season. These graphics were created through Photoshop, just like majori-ty of the ones that I designed. A special technique was used to create the fireworks for the new year’s graphic by applying several effects and blending options/filters.

Below is a screenshot of what I managed to compile together to create one-pagers with collateral material for the company. I formatted and completed a final layout style for the one-pagers through InDesign, but unfortunately due to mitigating circum-stances their print-ready completion was never reached. All of these pieces display information pertaining to what Madison House Autism Foundation believes are issues at hand.
