International Science Fair - Day Four - Finale! What a productive week of excursions and challenge based learning for each of the ten ISF activities! Today both visiting and ASMS students are presenting their responses to this week’s challenges. It was exciting to hear the visitors’ experience and how they found the different and unique learning that is found here at ASMS. Towards the end of the day, we had an Official Closing Ceremony of ISF, which included a presentation of certificates to international students and video presentations of ISF memories from the week. It is hard to admit that today is Friday, which means it is the last day of the ASMS International Science Fair 2018. It is sad to say goodbyes to our visitors from Ritsumeikan Senior High School, Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology, Oak Park High School, Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Laperouse High School, Lameroo Regional Community School, Korea Science Academy, Gwangju Science Academy for the Gifted, GSC, Fort Richmond Collegiate (Pembina Trails School Division), Craigmore High School, and Corinda State High School. The fun and exciting memories and the new friendships that were made will be forever remembered and cherished. It has been a pleasure having you here. We hope you enjoyed your stay here at ASMS. Deputy Principal Glenys Thompson Interview

What role do you think ISF plays in the culture of the ASMS?

For me, the ISF really brings all of the best bits of the whole ASMS, the interdisciplinarity, the collaborative nature of what we

do - having stretch and challenge, really being able to follow our passions. For me they're are all the best bits of the ASMS and

we wrap them all up into this particular week.

What is the biggest challenge your face while plan ISF week?

It's always really challenging because there's so many different pieces of the puzzle that have to fit together but we are so

lucky that we have the amazing Julie who really pulls it all together brilliantly and not only that, the staff and the students are

also really onside. Even yesterday, when something went wrong with the opening ceremony, people from outside of our

school didn't even really know because they didn't have an expectation and the way the staff and the students all just made it

all work seamlessly was really good. While it is a huge job and there are many challenges, the overarching culture that we

have at this school makes events like this possible.

Glenys and Year 11 student Olivia were interview on FiveAA radio on Thursday, September 6 about the ISF. The audio from that interview can be accessed via tiny.cc/isf5aa
