There is not strong engineering • 31,000 students between first cycles, Master and Doctorate • Interna:onal standing in areas of humani:es (law, literature, teaching Spanish, ...) • High poten:al in areas related to biotechnology and health (advanced research centres), and specific groups of ICT • Public university. Financially dependent of the regional government of Cas:lla y Leon. Scarcity of resources. Only baseline funding for opera:ng expenses. Extra funds from compe::ve calls
KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER OFFICES IN SPAIN
• Units of rela:onship between universi:es and the produc:ve sector
• Recent fact in Spain with respect to Europe / USA • Its overall objec:ve is to bring closer the university environment to the business environment , and coordinate the efforts needed to achieve an appropriate use and evalua:on of the results of university research ac:vity

• Promo:on of the research results from the University in the produc:ve sector • Nego:a:on of contracts and agreements for coopera:ve research, consul:ng, services, … • Informa:on and assistance in the prepara:on of coopera:ve na:onal projects • Informa:on and assistance in the prepara:on of interna:onal projects • Informa:on and advice regarding intellectual property rights • Fostering the crea:on of innova:ve companies (EIBT's)

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROJECTS OFFICE • Wri\en strategy of how to encourage and promote the par:cipa:on including ways of funding these project offices based on percentage use of funds raised. • Proac:ve project offices, to intensify knowledge management and value-‐added services they offer. • Integral service of the promo:on and management advice, including support in the prepara:on and proposal wri:ng. • Management and dissemina:on tasks in coordinated projects. • Intensive search for addi:onal funding sources • To develop materials and good prac:ce thema:c guides and manuals to serve researchers • Enhancing the ac:ons of lobby and foreign presence. • Defining indicators that allow a proper assessment of their ac:vity
