• PSYCH 490P: International Perspectives on Disability (4 credits)• Elective or seminar requirement for Psychology major• Elective for Psychology minor

• Course components• Weekly, 2-hour seminar in Spring 2019• Two weeks of travel: August 3-17, 2019

• Cannot register through Spire• Apply through IPO• Once approved, we enroll you

• Spring Seminar• Friday 2:30-4:30

• One Course: Spring seminar and August travel • You cannot take only the spring seminar

• Provides foundation in disability• No prerequisites or background knowledge required

Spring Seminar

• The purpose of this course is to introduce students to international perspectives on disability

• This course will discuss conceptualization of disability across diverse cultures, laws and social policies that affect the lives of people with disability, and systems of support for people with disabilities across the globe

• There will be a focus on human rights for people with disabilities, as outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

• Eligibility• Open to all majors• Sophomore standing or higher, freshman may be considered• Graduating seniors are eligible to participate• Experience with disability preferred, but not required
