Impressions. Five centuries of woodcuts, until January 24 Woodcuts are prints made from wooden blocks. Five centuries ago, this was the cutting-edge form of pictorial communication. What is the place of this venerable technique in our current age, with its ceaseless torrent of images on the web, on tablets and mobile phones? The exhibition seeks to surprise and excite by revealing the varied expressive potential of the woodcut medium. Here one can view everything from intricate ancient book illustrations to monumental works of recent years and woodcuts at the interface between two and three dimensions. The collaboration of young artists illustrates the contemporary relevance of the medium. Visitors will have a chance to create their own prints.Click here for more information, send an email to [email protected] or call 21 98 20 00.Address: Universitetsgata 13How to get there: All public transportation to National Theatre Ph

CONCERTS

Odd Size: Messiah, Oslo Ladegård, December 18 at 18.00 and 21.30Odd Size consists of four musicians who take on challenges that at first glance may seem impossible. The quartet’s members have worked their way to their very own version of Händel’s Messiah, without choir, orchestra or conductor. The result is playful, insisting, and perhaps a bit crazy, but also, arguably, a unique chance to get closer to Händel’s masterpiece.
